Chapter 29: Chapter 29
Karen's POV
She held my hands and smiled. I didn't know what she wanted to tell me, I just stared at her in confusion.
"I'm sorry but this is actually my mom's plan, she thinks that you're a golddigger and she wants to prove to my brother that you're a cheat and a liar."
My heart almost shattered. "Does he know about this?" I asked.
She raised an eyebrow and looked at me. "Who?"
"I'm talking about Brody, does he know about this?" I asked her.
She cleared her throat and paused, looking deep in thought. "He knows about everything."
Why would he know of his mother's plan but won't tell me? Did he have another intention? I was really confused. I needed answers.
"I was expecting him to tell me."
She chuckled. "He wanted to also find out if you're a bad person."
I frowned. How could he not trust me? I was not the type of person that would betray him especially when I knew the money I would receive for the contract. "I can never love anyone else other than your brother." I assured her with a fake smile.
"I'm sure my mom knows that too." She replied.
I was surprised at her reply. "I don't understand."
"My mom actually fixed hidden cameras in this house to monitor your activities."
My eyes widened with shock. I was really lucky to have rejected Joe's dare. A smile plastered on my face. "It's really not bad."
She chuckled. "Something big is coming up soon, you're just going to have to wait for it." She said.
"You should tell me what's going to happen, I can't wait." I told her, anxiously.
"Alright, my family is planning....." Her phone rang and she quickly walked out of the room to pick the call.
I wondered what her family was planning. I really wanted to see my father before leaving Los Angeles although I knew that it wouldn't be possible. My mind drifted to Brody again, I knew his plans. I was so lucky to have outsmarted him. He wanted me to fail so that he could stop the contract and I won't be paid.
He was such a dubious fool! Helen walked into the room with a smile. "So huh, I have a surprise for you."
"What's that?" I asked.
"Someone's here to see you."
My face darkened, who would want to see me except from Brody? "I don't want to see him." I told her without a smile on my face.
She chuckled. "You don't want to see your father?" She asked in amazement as my dad walked in and I hugged him. This was the best surprise ever.
I turned to face Helen. "I'm so excited right now, thanks for everything. I'm really indebted to you, I don't know how I can repay you."
She beamed with joy. "You'll certainly repay me soon, I'm sure of that. I'll leave you guys to talk for a while."
"Thanks."
"And also get ready, we're going back home."
I nodded with a smile and she walked out of the room. My father was so excited to see me. "Dad, I've missed you so much."
He shrugged and touched my cheeks. "You're getting thin. Why aren't you eating? You should add on a little weight so you can get married quickly."
I chuckled and slightly nudged him with an elbow. "I'm not even thinking about marriage because I believe it's forever. I can't get married to a man I can never love."
He smiled at me and hugged me again. "Your mom is doing pretty good on TV, I'm not sure you watched her last episode yesterday night, did you?"
I shook my head and he sighed. "Yeah, I guessed right. I really thought you've forgotten about me totally."
"Why would I do that?"
"You stopped contacting me." He reminded me and I felt bad. He was definitely right, I almost forgot everyone because of the contract.
"I'm working on something that would never make us poor again." I reassured him with a smile.
He nodded. "What's that?"
"I signed a contract."
His eyeballs almost pooped out of its socket. "A contract?"
"Yeah, I signed a contract."
He looked at me excited. "That's really nice and I'm happy for you."
"What type of contract did you sign?" He asked.
I paused for a few seconds, wondering the reason for the question. I was terribly searching for lies to tell him but I couldn't lie to him. "A relationship contract with Brody Taylor." I informed him and he became shocked.
"Taylor's family?" He asked, angrily.
I nodded. "But they don't know about the contract." I told him.
"I don't think this would work." He replied.
"Why?" I inquired, softening my voice.
"The Taylor's family are wealthy and arrogant people and what is the contract you signed with Brody about?"
I looked at him and wondered if I should continue. "I'm his fake girlfriend."
"That's bullshit. They're just using you."
"No one's using me, I'm doing this to help us." I said in a low voice making sure the cameras weren't focused on us.
"I hate contracts." He admitted.
I chuckled and rested on his shoulder. "But why?" I asked.
"You can't fight fate or love, when you fall in love with someone. It's always hard to forget about those people when they're gone."
"I can never fall I'm love with a rich and arrogant man."
"You should search your heart deeply, I'm sure you're already in love with him but pride won't make you accept that." He said.
I looked at him, I didn't know what to think. Was he saying the truth? "His mom is rude." I whispered to him.
He chuckled. "Can I ask a simple question?"
"Of course, dad."
"How can you not fall in love with Brody? Aren't you guys living in the same room? You'll definitely fall in love with him." He replied and his point was quite great.
Brody's POV
Sarah looked at me with a smirk. "I'm still in love with you." She repeated.
I gave her a cold smile and shrugged. I was beginning to think my mom was also putting my love for Karen to a test. "That's nice."
She blinked her eyes in shock. "You don't love me again?" She asked with a soft voice.
I looked at her and sipped a juice. "Obviously, I don't. We are not even friends and we can't love each other. You're only lucky that my mom asked us to chat for a while."
"Don't you miss the times we spent together, we went to cinemas together and had fun." She reminded me.
"That was before I caught you cheating." I told her.
"Well, I didn't do it on purpose. You didn't want to have sex with me for unknown reasons."
"I was busy with work."
"I'm sorry, we can still get back together."
"Another woman is in my life and you should respect that fact that Karen is better than you." I said.
"We were lovers before." She replied and tried to kiss me. I could feel my erection pressing against her body but I didn't want to give into her seduction.
As I tried to resist, she deepened the kiss and I kissed her back passionately. "I've missed you." She muttered.
