Chapter 83: Chapter 83
"I don't think that suggestion is good enough. Please consider it."
"No, no. It's the best solution we can come up with ...."
People were arguing in the meeting room. Melvin, who was in the room, was holding his head because he was dizzy. He hoped that today's meeting could end soon. Then, a decision on the next project could be made immediately. However, looking at the situation full of heated debates, it seemed like he still had to be patient to listen to the opinions of the people in the room.
While the man was busy with his work, the cell phone he had placed on the table suddenly rang. There was an incoming call from Aleta on the screen. Melvin didn't pick it up immediately because he thought it was rude to pick up the phone while the meeting was in progress. He just left his cell phone on vibrate. However, since Aleta connected the call several times, he decided to pick it up. He himself had a bad feeling about the call.
"Excuse me!" Melvin begged for permission to go out to pick up an important call.
"Hello?"
The voice on the other end of the line was troubling. Melvin could tell that his mother was not well from the way she spoke.
"I'm on my way to the hospital. Melvin, Danas' condition suddenly worsened," the woman explained.
Melvin's chest seemed to sink inward. He was completely shocked to hear the bad news.
Although he knew he was in the middle of an important meeting, he chose to leave the office to meet his wife at the hospital.
"Please take care of everything!" Melvin ordered the secretary. The man walked away, leaving the heated argument in the room.
Without lingering, Melvin immediately went to the parking lot and drove the car that was speeding towards the hospital. He wanted to get there as soon as possible because he was so worried after hearing his mother on the phone. Aleta's frightened voice made him feel very bad.
Aleta finally arrived at the hospital. She immediately went to the lobby and went to the reception desk. She explained Danas' condition and requested that her son-in-law be treated immediately.
The nurses who saw Danas being carried unconscious immediately escorted the woman to the treatment room. Incidentally, at that time Jagad had just finished checking the condition of the patients in the hospital, then he found Danas in an unconscious state.
"What's wrong?" asked Jagad to Aleta who had just finished doing the administration at the reception desk.
"Please! His stomach suddenly hurt," the woman replied with a tense face.
Jagad, who saw Danas' condition, immediately examined the woman. He also asked the nurse to apply fluids. Because Danas really looked so pale.
"Oh, God. Please help my grandson," Aleta muttered while covering her face with both palms. She began to shed tears.
"Aunt, just calm down. No need to panic," Jagad said. He then asked the nurse to take care of Aleta. It would be bad if she collapsed just because she couldn't calm herself down.
Jagad checked Danas' pulse and heart rate. Apparently, the woman's condition was not so bad. Next, he also asked the nurse to check her blood pressure.
After going through the standard checks, Jagad, who had been panicking, breathed a sigh of relief. He wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. However, when he saw the woman he loved lying there, somehow his heart seemed to be squeezed.
I really wanted to see you, but not in this condition, the man said to himself.
Aleta who was in the room then asked. "How is she?"
A faint smile appeared on Jagad's face. "Take it easy. She's fine," the young doctor replied, showing the typical professionalism of a doctor.
"Really? What about the baby?" the old woman asked again.
"The fetus is also fine. Danas has a strong baby," the man replied, then he seemed to smile at Danas.
Aleta who saw the doctor's expression felt a little disturbed. She caught a hint of emotion from the smile shown by Jagad. However, Aleta quickly erased her thoughts for the time being. For her, her son's child was her top priority.
After a few moments of silence, Jagad then realized. He had forgotten to ask standard questions because he was so worried about Danas' condition. The man forgot to ask about Danas who could faint like that.
"What did Danas do to make her like this? Or was there something she ate before she fainted?" Jagad asked Aleta.
The old woman, however, did not know either. She then wiped away her tears that had fallen after calming down a bit. "No idea. She just suddenly screamed and curled up in pain in her room," Aleta replied in a slightly hoarse voice.
"In that case, we'll only know after Danas wakes up," the man replied.
Not long after that, Melvin, who had been contacted by Aleta, arrived at the hospital. He walked quickly to the reception desk.
"Patient named Danas, where is she now?" the man asked with a worried look on his face.
The nurse then showed him a treatment room. Then, Melvin ran there without heeding the nurse's warning.
Faintly, the nurse said from a distance, "Please don't run in the hospital!"
The door of the treatment room was opened. The person inside was surprised to see the figure that suddenly appeared.
" Mom, how's Danas?" Melvin asked his mother, showing a face like someone who was in distress.
Jagad, who witnessed Melvin's presence, was silent and showed a flat expression.
" She's fine," Aleta replied with slightly puffy eyes.
" Is she really okay?" asked Melvin once again. This time, the question was addressed to Jagad as the doctor handling Danas.
Jagad then answered in a flat tone. "You don't need to worry. Your baby is fine," the man said with emphasis on the word child.
Jagad didn't wanna accept the fact that Melvin was worried about Danas. After all, it was that man who had made Danas' life miserable. Jagad who even used to have a close relationship with Melvin now didn't want to see the face of the man who had made the woman he loved suffer.
"I see."
Melvin himself could realize Jagad's coldness. They all ended up staying in the room in an awkward state.
In the midst of that awkwardness, Danas who had fainted finally regained consciousness.
"Mmmm... mmm ...."
The woman seemed to be muttering something.
"Are you okay?"
Melvin, who noticed the movement of his wife, immediately went to the woman after standing at the door for a long time.
Jagad could only silently watch the scene.
"Where am I?" asked Danas looking confused. He had no memory of being rushed to the hospital.
"You're in the hospital now," Melvin replied.
Then, without waiting any longer. Aleta stood up from her seat and asked Danas.
"How did you end up like that, exactly?" the old woman asked with a higher intonation of voice. The look on her face also implied anger.
Danas then tried to get up. However, Jagad stopped him. "You'd better lie down. Your head must still be spinning," the man said.
After drinking a glass of water given by the nurse, Danas finally complied to lie down again.
"Danas, can you tell me what happened before you fainted?"
This time it was Jagad who asked the question. She wanted to be as professional as possible, but she couldn't hide her concern at all.
Danas finally told her story after being prompted by the doctor.
"I don't remember doing anything that would cause me this much pain. It's just that, last time, I had eaten some jackfruit and drank some pineapple juice before my stomach hurt."
Jagad grunted after hearing Danas' explanation. Then, the man explained.
"Jackfruit and pineapple are not suitable for the fetus, especially in early pregnancy. It's a good thing you didn't eat a lot of them. If you had eaten a lot, there's no way your fetus would have been fine. You'd better not eat them again," Jagad explained.
Danas felt so guilty. She regretted that because of her ignorance, she had just almost harmed her own baby. If only she had eaten the fruit, who knows what would have happened to her.
Danas was only able to shed tears after making it through the dangerous situation.
Forgive mom, son, Danas said to herself.
"From now on, I will tell the servants to pay attention to the food you consume. I don't want a similar incident to happen again," Melvin explained.
The man could only let out a long sigh. For now, everything remained fine.
