Chapter 81: Chapter 81
Danas moaned in her sleep. She turned her body to the other side. However, the shrill ringing of the alarm caught her consciousness. The woman's eyelids moved. Her two hands moved to rub her eyes.
Slowly, her eyelashes lifted up as her eyelids opened. She blinked as her eyes were still adapting to the light entering her retinas. Danas then looked to the side. Where she placed the cell phone that was still ringing due to the alarm. The woman immediately grabbed her favorite flat object and turned off the alarm that kept screaming.
"It's already half past seven, geez, I overslept!" exclaimed Danas as she got up and sat up. She smoothed her hair back. Then she put her cell phone back on the nightstand.
"Ah, this must be because I couldn't sleep last night," grumbled Danas as she pulled back the blanket that partially covered her body. She quickly got out of bed. Put on her house slippers and walked into the bathroom.
She herself rarely woke up at this hour. Usually, Danas always woke up at five or half past six in the morning. She would wake up first and prepare breakfast for her husband.
Danas only needed to wash her face, brush her teeth, and urinate in the bathroom. Then she left her room without taking a shower. Danas guessed that her husband must have woken up already. Danas hoped that Melvin could understand that he couldn't prepare breakfast for him today.
"I'm sorry I got up late, Melvin," Danas said as she passed by Melvin.
Melvin, who was tidying up the buttons on his shirt sleeve, just nodded his head briefly and walked away. Danas herself didn't dare to move and just stood still in place. She was still monitoring Melvin's behavior with her eyes. Whether the man would scold her or not.
Melvin, who had just wanted to walk towards the dining table, stopped his steps. The man turned to his wife. "Aren't you coming to breakfast with me?" Melvin asked Danas who was still silent in her place.
At that question, Danas nodded her head. "Yes. I'm going there," Danas replied quickly.
Not wanting to keep Melvin waiting, Danas immediately swung her legs towards the dining table. There was already breakfast for Melvin, Danas, and the rest of the family.
Melvin sat where he usually sat. The chair at the end of the table. Danas took the seat on his right side. The woman furrowed her brow when she realized the dining table was still empty. Her mother-in-law and Renata weren't there yet.
"Let's wait for Mommy and Renata first," Melvin told her. Danas nodded her head.
She glanced at the new waitress who replaced Christina. The waitress looked about the same age as her. Her face looked more serious and stern. Danas really felt that the waitress was very stiff. It seemed like she was starting to compare the waitress to Christina. Where Danas felt very relaxed when interacting with Christina Even on some occasions, Danas felt like she had the presence of a mother figure in this house.
Danas released her gaze on the woman when the maid looked back at her.
" Something wrong, ma'am?" the woman named Winda asked.
Danas immediately shook her head. "Oh, no, I was just thinking about something and my eyes happened to fall on you. Sorry if you're inconvenienced," Danas replied with a grimace.
"Oh, well, ma'am," Winda replied as she nodded politely. "Indeed, I'm not terribly comfortable with being looked at for long by Madame," the waitress continued frontally.
Making Danas straighten up, fidgeting in his seat. Realizing the awkwardness made Melvin make a sound. A sign that he didn't want the conversation to continue. Danas and Winda fell silent. In this situation Danas felt that Melvin had saved him. One more assessment of Danas towards Winda. The maid was brave enough to say something.
Not long after, Aleta came out of her room. She descended the stairs slowly. Danas turned her head towards the stairs where her mother-in-law had just come down from. Aleta walked towards the dining table.
"Where's Renata?" was Aleta's first question of the day.
Melvin shrugged his shoulders. "Looks like she's still in the room," Melvin replied.
Aleta nodded her head as she pulled out a chair and sat down. "No need to wait for Renata, Vin. You can have breakfast right away, because you'll be late if you don't eat from now on," Aleta ordered when she saw Melvin who still hadn't touched his food.
Melvin sighed and nodded his face. "Okay, Mom. Let's start breakfast," Melvin said.
Melvin occasionally glanced at the stairs. As if he was still waiting for Renata to join him for breakfast. Danas herself who saw her husband's gesture just smiled bitterly. The woman poured water into Melvin's empty glass.
Melvin who realized it just uttered a sentence of thanks to Danas. Danas nodded her head and started devouring her food.
Danas didn't care if her husband wanted to go to breakfast with her girlfriend. Danas only needed to think about herself and the fetus she was carrying.
Not long after, there was the sound of footsteps from upstairs. The sound of Renata's heels caught the attention of Melvin who was eating his food.
Seeing Renata coming down the stairs with her big suitcase made everyone surprised. Especially Melvin who didn't even want to know where Renata was carrying the suitcase.
"Looks like you don't know why Renata brought the suitcase either," Aleta guessed.
Melvin was silent with his eyes still watching Renata. Aleta turned to Danas. "Do you know?" she asked.
Danas shook her head. She herself had not interacted with the woman since Christina's dismissal. Because Danas knew that Christina was not at fault, and this was all because of her.
Melvin approached Renata. Danas saw him from his seat. One hand reflexively rubbed his small belly. Melvin seemed to be saying something to Renata.
Danas himself couldn't hear clearly. Until Melvin turned around and walked towards the dining table.
"Renata is going to Germany today, I'll take her to the airport, after that I'll go straight to the office," Melvin said to his mama.
Aleta then stood up and gave Renata a warm hug. Danas herself was still sitting in her chair looking at the harmonious scene between Renata, Aleta, and Melvin.
Then the three of them left the house, Melvin hadn't even finished his breakfast. Danas saw a lot of fried rice left on Melvin's plate. The woman exhaled her breath in resignation. Then she quickly ate her breakfast.
It wasn't long before Aleta came and sat back down in her place. "Melvin left with Renata," Aleta said before shoveling a spoonful of food into her mouth.
Danas smiled slightly as she nodded her head. "Yes, Mom."
The woman lowered her face even more as she quickly spooned her breakfast into her mouth. Danas himself felt uncomfortable if he had to be at the same table with Aleta alone.
Danas finished his breakfast quickly.
"Mom, Danas, I'd like to ask permission to go to my room."
Aleta answered her son-in-law with an indifferent wave of her hand. Making Danas finally get up from the dining table and head back to his room.
Danas held her small belly. She stroked her belly with a smile. Danas didn't think that her time with Renata was over. "Honey, Mommy take a shower first," Danas murmured to the child in her womb.
On the other hand, Winda who was just standing still in her place just stared flatly at Danas who had now walked towards the woman's room. Winda had caught the moment where Danas smiled slightly while stroking her womb. She didn't like the happiness on Danas' face. She hated it so much.
" Winda," Aleta called, causing Winda to quickly turn around and find the middle-aged woman who had called her getting up from her seat.
"You can already clear the table. Oh, yes, don't forget to prepare some fruit for Danas. Fruit, and juice. Don't forget it. Sometimes my son-in-law forgets to eat fruit, you have to remind him," Aleta told Winda.
Winda nodded her head politely. "Yes, I got it, ma'am."
Getting an understanding answer from her servant, Aleta returned to her own room. Leaving Winda who now had all sorts of plans to carry out her bad intentions.
The woman picked up the dirty dishes on the dining table. Then she took them to the kitchen. Inside the kitchen, Winda just put the dishes into the sink, then she took her cell phone from her apron pocket.
"I don't like that smile," Winda muttered as she typed a few sentences into an internet search engine.
'What are the fruits that can terminate a pregnancy.'
