Chapter 76: Chapter 76

Melvin had to attend an important meeting at his company. He saw on his phone's calendar that today was Danas' gynecological control appointment. He sighed and sent Danas a message.

"I'll be there for the checkup. Just wait," he wrote.

The message from Melvin went unanswered by Danas. Melvin didn't mind; when he arrived at the office, the man was immediately busy with various jobs.

"Sir, the staff is ready for the meeting," Rangga said, entering Melvin's room.

Melvin then turned to his secretary, he got up from his seat, then straightened his suit. "Okay. Remind me that at ten o'clock I've got to go to the hospital, my wife has a gynecological check-up." Melvin then stepped towards the exit quickly.

Rangga nodded, "Yes, sir," he replied.

Melvin didn't say anything else, he walked straight to the meeting room. There were already some staff and also some directors from several divisions. As the leader, Melvin sat at the end. Leading today's meeting, paying attention to all the programs and reports that have been made in this company.

The time passed so quickly, Melvin, who was in the meeting room, didn't realize that it was already ten o'clock.

His secretary then reminded Melvin in a whisper.

Melvin's eyes immediately widened, he forgot because he was too focused on today's meeting. Finally he glanced at the watch. "Oh my! Okay." He glanced at his secretary. "Rangga, please take my place, chair this meeting. I need to accompany my wife."

Rangga who was sitting near Melvin nodded, "Yes, Mr. Melvin," he said. He gladly replaced his boss.

Meanwhile, Melvin was in a hurry to leave the meeting room, without knowing when he passed his room. There was Renata waiting on the sofa, the woman stood up and smiled when she saw Melvin heading to her room.

"Honey?" greeted Renata and immediately embraced. "I wanted to come into your room earlier, but your secretary forbade me," she whined.

Melvin sighed, a little unhappy that Renata was suddenly here. "What are you doing here?" his voice was both flat and cold.

"I wanted to take you shopping. Yesterday, the store I subscribe to sent a catalog, there's a summer collection that I like. I want to buy it, would you like to accompany me?" Renata asked spoilingly. Putting on a sad face, she hoped Melvin would comply with her wishes. "Would you like to accompany me? I think you rarely spend time with me nowadays."

"I have an appointment with Danas," Melvin said quickly getting rid of Renata's hand that was clinging spoiled.

Renata gaped at Melvin's reaction who suddenly removed her hand from his arm. Her body froze unable to stop Melvin, tongue-tied. Usually Renata would seduce Melvin all the way. But this time, Renata felt like a fool, because Melvin just walked away.

Shit! Renata cursed to herself. A few minutes later after Melvin left, Renata's eyes blinked, looking around her. A lot of eyes were looking at Renata, her face was getting redder and redder, embarrassed and also pissed off to death. How dare Melvin refuse her request. And all because of Danas!

Renata became even more furious. Especially today when she was being humiliated like this. You'll see, wait for my revenge! The woman finally left Melvin's office with a grumpy and annoyed heart. All because of Danas, why does there have to be a Danas name in this world?! Renata grumbled.

Melvin smiled as he saw Danas sitting in the waiting room. The man then sat down next to Danas, making Danas a little surprised, because he didn't see Melvin coming.

"Sorry, I'm late."

"Not really, I just came too," Danas said awkwardly, this was not what Danas wanted, to be near Melvin.

Melvin gave Danas some bread. "Here, I bought it on the way here."

"Thank you," Danas said flatly. The hospital was crowded at the moment. In the waiting room were several couples whose wives were also pregnant. Danas occasionally watched their interaction while eating the bricks of bread Melvin had given him.

If only Melvin was like the future father Danas saw in front of him. Her eyes then went to the bread she was eating. Maybe Melvin had already started paying attention to her. Giving Danas bread, and then this? Melvin could have been rude or ordered something else.

"Mrs. Danas!" called the nurse in front of the doctor's room.

Danas and Melvin stood up and headed to the doctor's office.

The bespectacled gynecologist sat on a chair behind the desk. He smiled as Danas and Melvin entered his office.

"Please. Please have a seat," the doctor said.

Melvin and Danas looked at each other awkwardly when they sat in front of the doctor.

" Do you have any complaints?" the doctor asked, looking at Danas.

Danas shook her head, because she didn't have complaints.

"You were allergic yesterday," Melvin chided, worried about his wife's condition.

"Do you have a history of allergies?"

"Never. Maybe it's just because I'm not feeling well," Danas replied quietly.

The doctor then made a note in the medical record. "Then we'll check first, please get on the gurney."

Danas climbed the gurney and there was already a nurse at the edge of the bed. The nurse prepared Danas for an ultra sonography scan. "Excuse me, ma'am, I'm applying gel to her stomach," she allowed.

Danas nodded slowly, while the examining doctor washed his hands. While asking Danas and Melvin something. "After the allergy, is there anything you feel?"

"Nothing, just yesterday when the attack happened, I was shocked. Because I don't usually have allergy attacks."

The doctor smiled and sat on the chair, the two dimensional ultrasound screen then lit up. Melvin approached the gurney, his forehead wrinkled, what was the doctor looking at? The screen was only black and white.

"Here's the heartbeat," the doctor said, pointing to Danas' lower abdomen. "From the rhythm, there seems to be no problem, the baby is also developing in accordance with the gestational age." The doctor then turned to Melvin, who was smiling broadly.

As long as he had lived, nothing had made his heart so happy. Hearing the heartbeat of her future baby was like listening to the most beautiful tune in the world. Her eyes filled with tears.

"Does it look like the baby's gender yet?" Melvin snatched, impatient. He was already imagining that the baby was a boy. Melvin would be so happy to have a successor in his family.

The doctor looked for the position of the baby in Danas' womb. "Not yet, sir. She's still shy," the doctor said.

Danas smiled, her cheeks flushed when she saw the image of her future child on the screen. And the doctor pointed to a point. Indeed, if you don't explain it, it doesn't mean anything. The doctor then explained carefully.

Melvin, who was on the side of the gurney, nodded in understanding. Melvin also felt impatient waiting for the moment when his baby would be born.

Occasionally, Danas and Melvin looked at each other. There was still an awkward feeling in them.

"Okay, we're done," the doctor said.

"What can we do to keep the baby healthy, Doc?" asked Melvn enthusiastically.

"Eat nutritious food, don't forget to consume enough vegetables and protein. You can also talk to the baby," he added. Melvin and Danas nodded. "I'll give you some vitamins for pregnant women. Don't forget to take it later." The doctor wrote down a prescription for Danas and handed it to Melvin.

"When should we come back for another check-up?" Melvin asked.

The doctor handed over the ultrasound results as well.

"Next month. But, if there's anything, you can call me," the doctor also gave Melvin his business card.

"Okay," Melvin said and smiled and shook hands with the doctor. And excused himself from the room. A smile spread across his face, the orange of his cheeks flushed. She didn't care about her surroundings. She continued to look at the ultrasound results that the doctor had given her earlier.

Meanwhile, Danas thought it was ridiculous that Melvin could be this smiling and happy. She almost bumped into passers-by because she was so engrossed in looking at the ultrasound results.

Melvin also forgot to pay the examination bill.

"I'm sorry, sir, the examination bill hasn't been paid yet," said the hospital clerk at the drug redemption department.

"Ah, I forgot. I'll just pay here," Melvin said as he took out his wallet. "Is that possible?"

"Yes, you can pay for the prescription," said the pharmacist.

Melvin smiled a crooked smile, and looked at Danas, who was sitting in the waiting room of the pharmacy. The woman looked calm, taking in the surroundings.

"Sir, it's done!" exclaimed the cashier at the pharmacy.

"Yes?" Melvin snapped out of his reverie. The cashier's gaze was full of smiles. Melvin's face, which was like a fool's, was stunned.

Melvin then caught up with Danas, sitting next to him. "It'll be done soon," Melvin said to Danas while grabbing his fingers.

Danas' forehead wrinkled, not understanding what Melvin wanted to do.

"I can't wait to meet our child," he said enthusiastically, his hand stretched out and placed on Danas' stomach.
