Chapter 69: Chapter 69

Christina closed the bedroom door softly. The woman breathed a sigh of relief when the bad thoughts that had been lurking in her brain didn't actually happen. Christina looked back at the closed wooden door in front of her. She felt sorry for Danas. Trapped in an unsettled life. She wished she could help Danas reveal all of Renata's crimes. However, she was self-conscious. She was unable to fight Renata's power.

Then Christina's gaze turned straight ahead. She became suspicious of Renata's behavior. The woman entered Danas' room without doing anything.

"What exactly is she planning?" muttered Christina as she glanced at the stairs leading to the second floor. Where the woman's room was.

Christina was certain. There must be something that Renata had planned for Danas. And it was definitely not a good thing. The middle-aged woman boldly stepped into the stairwell. She walked to the second floor. More precisely the place where Renata's room was located.

She stepped on the second floor slowly. Trying to walk as slowly as possible without making a clattering sound. Then when she was near Renata's door, Christina prepared her hearing well. She had to confirm something.

She stood up, trying not to let the owner of the room know that she was eavesdropping on Renata's conversation with someone on the phone.

Christina quietly listened with focus. Until one sentence managed to make her freeze in place. The sentence of the abortifacient that came out smoothly from Renata's mouth was able to make Christina lose her focus for a split second. Until Christina regained her consciousness, she immediately left the place. Now she knew what she had to do to protect her mistress.

After learning of Renata's evil plan, Christina found it difficult to look at the woman as usual. Even when she heard her voice, Christina avoided her as much as possible. She was not ready to be in the same room with a human as cunning as Renata.

Christina was now in the kitchen with several other young maids helping her. She was cooking for the family's afternoon meal. The middle-aged woman picked up the wrong ingredients several times as her focus went nowhere.

"It's not like you to lose focus like this," one of the servants said. Christina rubbed the back of her neck. She couldn't possibly tell her subordinates what she had heard.

She was afraid that the young servant would slip up and end up getting fired. However, Christina was sure that her master would not believe the accusations of others against her lover.

Christina shook her head. "I haven't had enough to drink today," Christina replied in a slightly joking tone. Making the other young servants chuckle at that.

"Yes, that's right, losing focus due to lack of drinking."

"Never mind, you guys hurry up and finish this, we still have a lot of work to do. Aren't you going to take an early break?" said Christina which made her subordinate immediately resume cooking.

The woman smiled as she saw the young servants who she considered as her children immediately do what she ordered quickly and precisely. They are indeed reliable, Christina thought.

But her smile faded when she saw Renata walking quickly towards the exit.

Christina quickly took off her apron and placed it on the table. "I'm going out for a moment, yes, we ordered some snacks earlier, I want to check whether the driver has come or not," Christina said as an excuse.

The waiters nodded their heads. "Yes, ma'am," they replied in unison.

Christina made the excuse to follow Renata secretly. Sure enough, Renata secretly met with a man in a black mask and took out a bottle that Christina believed was a bottle containing an abortifacient.

The woman covered her mouth. Trying not to be heard, she backed away slowly and went back inside Melvin's mansion. Christina didn't think that Renata would go that far to commit such a cruel act just to get a man.

Christina re-entered the kitchen with a blank stare. The young waitresses in the kitchen turned to Christina. They frowned when they saw Christina sitting limply without carrying a shopping bag.

"Why does Christina look like she's received an envelope with a pay cut?" one of the young waitresses said casually.

"Hush, it's you," one of her friends reprimanded.

Christina looked up. Then she shook her head. "Nothing," she replied as she tried to pull the corners of her lips together.

No one answered when Christina said that. Although in their hearts they were still worried about the middle-aged woman. The reason was, Christina's anxious look was very evident. Whoever the person was would immediately guess that Christina was worried about something.

One of the young servants in front of the stove turned off the stove. Then she turned around. "It's ready," she said, causing Christina to immediately turn to the waiter.

"What about the fruit salad for dessert?" Christina asked for confirmation.

"It's ready in the fridge," the waiter replied.

"Okay, so we'll just serve it later, right? Then you can rest," said Christina.

Then she got up to do one more job. Preparing fruit juice for Danas. Christina took an avocado from the refrigerator.

She split it into two. Then she put the flesh of the avocado into the blender. From now on Christina would not let Renata prepare drinks or food for Danas.

In fact, she had intended to always monitor that the food served to Danas was really healthy food without any abortifacient drugs from Renata. Christina prepared the glass while the blender was mashing the avocado in it.

Then she turned off the blender and poured it into the glass. As Christina was preparing the drink for Danas, the sound of steps that Christina recognized came closer.

"Who's that?" the owner of the footsteps asked.

"For Mrs. Danas," Christina replied, trying to sound as normal as possible. Even though she herself was trembling to be in the same room with someone she knew so well.

Renata nodded her head. "Oh," Renata said. She walked to Christina's side and picked up an empty glass.

Christina held Danas' glass tightly. She already knew that Renata's purpose here would be to mix the abortifacient into Danas' drink.

"Do you want me to make you a drink too?" Christina asked.

Renata looked awkward when Christina suddenly offered her a drink. "Oh, please," Renata replied.

Christina curled her lips upwards, with her trademark friendly tone she replied again. "Yes, Mrs. Renata. I'll make some too. Oh, but first I need to go to the bathroom first," Christina said pretending to go to the bathroom. She actually wanted to monitor Renata.

Christina didn't actually go to the bathroom. She peeked in front of the kitchen door to see if Renata really had the heart to do that.

Her irises rounded when she saw Renata taking out a small bottle from her pants pocket. Christina quickly pulled her head back when she saw Renata turning her face to make sure no one saw her.

When she was sure no one was looking at her, Renata unscrewed the cap of the medicine bottle and put the powder into Danas' drink. Renata took a spoon and stirred the drink until the powder she had put into it was invisible. Then she put the spoon into the sink.

Christina pretended as if she had just finished in the bathroom.

"Mrs. Renata is still waiting for me? I feel bad," Christina said.

Renata hurriedly put the abortifacient back into her pants pocket. She changed her expression and turned around. "Oh, yes, it's okay. If you're in the bathroom just finish it first, there's no need to rush," Renata said with a crisp laugh.

Christina walked into the kitchen and her eyes glanced at the glass of avocado juice she had just made for Danas. A glass of juice that had been mixed with an abortifacient.

"I don't wanna leave my work for too long, ma'am," Christina replied.

"Emm, good then. It would be very dangerous for you to leave work for too long," Renata said.

Christina silently replied, "Yes, you are dangerous Renata."

Then Renata walked out of the kitchen. "Oh, yes, there's no need to make drinks for me, I'm not interested," Renata said again before leaving the kitchen.
