Chapter 49: Chapter 49
Danas often wondered if it would be better if she disappeared from this world. Thinking that she could no longer continue her life. Each time she thought of giving up, however, there was always something that made her believe that she could still get through this. She always found a reason to persevere.
Danas put her books into her bag. Today, she had an afternoon class. The woman was already preparing to leave for the college. Danas looked at himself in the mirror again. She put some concelear under her eyes to cover her puffy eyes from crying.
After that, Danas tidied up her makeup and got up from her seat. She grabbed the bag that she placed on the table. She stepped out of the room with her feet wide.
The butler who passed by Danas threw a warm greeting. Danas returned it equally politely.
" The driver is ready, ma'am," Christina informed her.
Danas nodded her head. "Okay, thank you, Chris."
Danas continued her footsteps. Up ahead, the black sedan Melvin had given her was already there. Inside the car was a personal driver that Melvin had prepared to take Danas wherever she wanted.
The woman got into the back seat of the car. She put her bag on the side. Fastened the seatbelt, then leaned herself as comfortably as possible on the back of the seat.
For some reason Danas felt weak today. The woman closed her eyes. He rubbed his forehead which felt dizzy.
"Sir, I'm sorry, just drive a little slower. I'm a little nauseous," Danas said.
She didn't usually feel this way. The driver nodded his head as he apologized.
"Sorry, ma'am, I didn't realize I was speeding too much."
"Ah, it's okay," Danas replied. "I'm not feeling well today, so it's just uncomfortable."
"Madam looks pale," the driver said, looking at Danas in the rearview mirror.
Danas blinked her eyes. She hadn't expected her pallor to be so obvious. The woman was holding her cheek. Feeling her own body temperature with the back of her hand. She seemed to have caught a cold. Considering that Danas rarely slept on time these days.
Danas leaned her back again. Her eyes were thrown out of the window. Trees and buildings were running very fast.
Until the four-wheeled vehicle turned into the campus yard. Danas straightened her back. She was getting ready to get out of the car.
When the car stopped in front of his faculty building, Danas unbuckled his seat belt and slung his bag over his shoulder.
"Thank you, sir," Danas said before he opened the car door and got out.
Danas' personal driver smiled kindly and answered her thanks.
"Take care, ma'am. When you're done, please let me know," he said.
"Yes, sir," Danas replied.
The woman got out of her car. She walked into her faculty building. The heaviness in her head returned. Danas's vision slowly blurred. Her head was getting heavier. Her footsteps stopped when she felt like the world was spinning. Danas held her head. Her eyes blinked repeatedly, searching for focus. Until everything darkened and Danas couldn't remember anything anymore.
Other than Jagad's scream calling his name...
"Are you ready?" Melvin asked Renata over the phone when she had just left the meeting room.
"I'm ready to go," Renata replied. "Don't tell me you're still in the office?"
Melvin signaled Rangga to prepare the car for him immediately.
"I just finished a meeting. I'm about to leave too," Melvin said.
Rangga replied through his facial expression that the car was ready. Then he directed Melvin to the elevator.
The man also pressed the elevator open and let his boss into the iron box. Melvin entered the elevator still with his cellphone pressed to his ear.
"See you there," Melvin said, ending his conversation with Renata.
Melvin let out a long breath as he put his cell phone back into his coat pocket. He pulled his sleeve up slightly to look at the clock on his wrist.
He wasn't late at all, tending to leave early. However, Renata was already that excited to scold him. Melvin rubbed his wrinkled forehead. He hoped his girlfriend wouldn't sulk at him for too long. It was nothing, Melvin had taken his time and exerted enormous effort to prepare dinner today. He was even willing to postpone his departure out of town just to fulfill Renata's wish.
The elevator doors opened. Melvin waltzed out of the metal box. Several employees who passed by Melvin greeted and bowed respectfully. Meanwhile, Melvin only greeted with a nod.
"Please solve the problem here while I'm gone," Melvin said to Rangga.
Rangga nodded his head and opened the car door for his boss. "Yes, sir," he replied.
Just as Melvin rested his butt on the bench, Renata appeared from behind the large door. Melvin immediately got up to greet his lover.
Renata immediately hugged Melvin's neck. He then wrapped his arms around her waist and gave her thin lips a light peck.
After that, Melvin led Renata to sit on the chair that had been provided. The man swiftly pulled the chair out. Letting Renata sit down, he then returned to his seat.
"You're not angry with me anymore?" asked Melvin.
Renata shook her head. Instead of being angry, she was amazed at everything Melvin had prepared for her. The luxurious dinner Renata had wanted. Right now, Melvin was granting her wish.
Melvin pressed the bell at the end of his table. Soon, several waiters arrived with the menu that Melvin had ordered.
The accompanying music at the end of the room began to play. Making the romantic atmosphere even more pronounced. The strains of saxophone that spoiled the ears succeeded in making the two human beings drift away.
Until on the sidelines of their dinner the sound of a cell phone rang. At first Melvin didn't want to pick it up.
"Just pick it up first, if it's Rangga tell him not to bother you," said Renata.
Melvin nodded his head as he stood up. "Sorry," Melvin said to Renata.
The man immediately reached for his cell phone which he put in the pocket of his office coat. While walking out of the vvip room to pick up the phone.
An unknown number was displayed on his phone screen as the caller. Melvin frowned. Even so, he picked up the phone anyway.
"Hello," Melvin said as he put the phone to his ear.
Melvin's eyes widened when he heard the information he got from the person on the other side.
"Where is my wife now? I'll be right there."
Melvin immediately went inside the VIP room again to get his wallet and bag.
" I've got to go to the hospital now," Melvin said in a rush.
Renata who saw Melvin's panic could only frown in confusion. "What's wrong? Who's in the hospital?" asked Renata.
Melvin glanced at Renata. "Sorry, our dinner failed this time. I have to go to the hospital immediately. Danas fainted," said Melvin then immediately turned around and took a wide step.
Hearing that one name come out of Melvin's mouth suddenly made Renata's anger soar. Renata couldn't accept that her special night had to be ruined just because of Danas. Renata threw the spoon and fork she was holding onto the table. Then she ran to catch up with Melvin.
"Melvin, you can't just leave me like this!" Renata exclaimed as she grabbed Melvin's hand to hold him back.
"Renata, I promise I'll replace this night with another beautiful night," said Melvin as he tried to release Renata's grip on his wrist.
Renata tightened her jaw. "I won't let you go just like that Melvin!" said Renata again while blocking Melvin's body with her body.
"Renata, please!" said Melvin again. "I have to go to the hospital now."
"What is Danas so important to you?!" Renata's tone rose. Her chest rose and fell with emotion.
Melvin looked into Renata's eyes.
"Yes," he answered without hesitation. "Danas is important to me, because she's pregnant with my child."
Melvin passed by Renata's frozen body after saying that. The man didn't even care about Renata's shocked expression. He was only thinking about Danas' condition and the fetus she was carrying.
When Melvin got a call from the hospital about Danas' condition earlier, the man didn't move for a split second just to understand every word of the person on the other side who said that Danas, his wife, was pregnant and was brought to the hospital because she fainted.
Hearing the word pregnant made Melvin's heart swell instantly. The man with four-five excitement mixed with worry immediately rushed to the hospital where Danas was being treated.
It was different with Renata. She hoped the information she heard was wrong. Renata couldn't imagine how her relationship with Melvin would be in the future if there was a baby in Danas' womb.
