Chapter 47: Chapter 47
The fire of anger within Davina has yet to subside. Danas had just left because she had a consultation scheduled, while Davina had finished her consultation before meeting Danas earlier. Even though it was now time to go home because there was no more business at the lecture, Davina didn't necessarily move from the place where she was.
Davina grabbed her cell phone from her bag. She searched for her brother's contact and clicked the call button. In just a few seconds the phone was connected.
"Hello, Dav?" greeted Jagad from the other end of the line.
"Jagad!" burst out Davina, making Jagad surprised.
"Hey, hey, hey... what's going on? Are you crying?" asked Jagad teasing his sister. He could tell from the tone of her voice that Davina was not crying, but angry.
"I'm angry, Jagad!" screeched Davina again, not realizing that her voice had attracted the attention of other students passing by near where she was at the moment.
"What's wrong? Tell me quickly, I've got to eat lunch before I go to the poly room again," Jagad warned his sister.
Davina spluttered. Her face was now folded even deeper.
"Danas ...."
The story about Danas' situation at Melvin's mansion flowed smoothly from Davina's mouth. Jagad listened carefully. Ever since Davina started telling the story, the man was silent, but his hands were clenched so tightly that they were shaking.
"I think Melvin has no brain! How could he bring Renata to live with his own wife!" Davina roared again. She had repeated the same sentence for who knows how many times.
Jagad remained silent, with no intention of interrupting his sister. He let Davina channel her emotions until she was satisfied. Meanwhile, Jagad himself is busy with his thoughts. The image of Danas' figure materialized in his brain. Seeing that, made Jagad's heart feel sore. I don't know how Danas feels who has to live a life that is getting harder because of Renata's presence in the place closest to him.
"Dav, sorry... break time is running out." This time Jagad had to interrupt his brother.
"Ah, that's right. Sorry. I've disturbed your rest time," Davina said regretfully. She was too excited to tell her story, spilling her grievances.
Jagad smiled, understanding his sister. "No problem."
After bidding farewell, the phone line was finally disconnected. Davina, who had no reason to stay longer on campus, finally chose to go home.
Jagad's appetite had disappeared since hearing the news his sister had just told him. Suddenly he was no longer hungry. His mind was now filled with Danas. The anger that Davina felt earlier is now contagious to her.
Time passed and without realizing it, it was time for her to return to the poly room. The nurse in charge of the room said that there were still several lines of patients waiting for their turn to be examined.
Jagad put his cell phone into his pants pocket. He stood up, leaving the food that he had not touched at all.
Right now his heart wanted to rush to where Melvin was to beat the man up. If there was no current duty schedule, Jagad would have gone straight to where his best friend was to teach him a lesson.
"Fuck you, Melvin!" cursed Jagad in a low voice.
Jagad quickly packed up his things. The doctor was now preparing to leave the hospital. The nurses and staff looked surprised because the doctor was not usually in such a hurry to leave.
Jagad glanced at the wall clock in the room. It was quite late in the afternoon and it was about time to go home. He intended to rush the time, intercepting Melvin in his office who was about to go home.
"See you tomorrow, Doc!" greeted one of the young nurses Jagad had just passed.
"See you tomorrow!" replied Jagad, who only turned around briefly and continued walking.
Rushing and looking hurried, Jagad chose to half-run to the parking lot reserved for doctors and hospital staff. He got into the car and started the engine. Without further delay, his foot stepped on the gas pedal and drove his four-wheeled vehicle towards Melvin's office.
It took almost an hour for Jagad to finally arrive at Melvin's office. He noticed that the office building was getting quiet, the employees were seen leaving the building one by one.
In his heart, Jagad hoped Melvin hadn't gone home and was still in the office.
When he had just arrived at the floor where Melvin's room was, Jagad asked one of the secretaries who was still there.
"Is Melvin still there?" With a slightly strained voice, Jagad asked.
The secretary recognized Jagad as his boss's friend.
"Mr. Melvin and his assistant just came down, sir," the secretary replied.
Jagad immediately departed and left the place without saying anything. He re-entered the elevator to go downstairs.
Melvin must have gotten off the elevator next door. Jagad thought.
After the elevator carrying Jagad went down to the basement floor, the man immediately rushed out. He looked around, searching for Melvin's whereabouts.
His eyes caught the figure he was looking for. The man had just gotten into the car. Rangga, who had previously opened the car door for Melvin, was closing the door again. Melvin's assistant was now walking and about to get into the driver's seat.
Jagad ran over. Now the car driven by Rangga had its turn signal on. Jagad immediately lunged in front of the car, blocking its exit.
"Stop!" Jagad shouted.
Rangga, who was surprised by Jagad's sudden appearance, spontaneously hit the brake pedal deeply. Melvin, who was sitting in the back seat, was immediately annoyed by the sudden brake.
"Sorry, sir. There's Mr. Jagad ...." Rangga told Melvin quickly so that he could avoid his boss's anger.
Melvin saw Jagad's figure through the windshield. The man spluttered. Ever since he found out that his best friend was acquainted with Danas, there was a feeling of dislike in Melvin's heart.
"Melvin, get out!" Jagad shouted again, pointing at the car.
Melvin got out, instructing Rangga to get out too and stay away from the car. He didn't want whatever conversation he was about to have with Jagad to be overheard by his assistant.
Instantly Jagad's heart began to burn with anger again when he saw Melvin who got out of the car and walked over to him.
"What's wrong, Jagad?" asked Melvin coldly. The calm expression on his face added to Jagad's irritation.
"Are you out of your mind?" Jagad snapped.
Melvin narrowed his eyes at the insult. He wondered what he had done to make his best friend so angry with him.
"How did you get Danas under the same roof as Renata!" Jagad continued his words.
Melvin had guessed that Jagad's problem this time might have something to do with Danas. He just didn't expect it to be true.
"What does it matter to you? I'm just bringing my girlfriend to live together in my own house," Melvin retorted unconcernedly.
"Danas is your wife!" Jagad snapped again. This time his voice was higher and echoed throughout the basement. "If you want to live with your girlfriend, go ahead! But you can't have her near Danas!"
Melvin grinned infuriatingly. "What do you care? Danas is my wife. I'm entitled to do anything to her. Including making her live in the same house as the woman I love."
Jagad really couldn't understand Melvin's way of thinking. If he already had a wife, why would he still have a relationship with another woman? He even had the heart to make them live together.
"If you don't love Danas, then why did you marry her? If you already have Renata, why don't you just let Danas go?"
"Jagad, stop meddling in my business. You're nobody anyway."
Jagad immediately laughed because he felt his brain was stuck hearing Melvin's cold words. He couldn't find any arguments to counter Melvin's words.
Yes, he was a nobody here. What did he have to do with this complicated relationship between Melvin and Danas? ....
"Oh, I'll make this my business too, Melvin."
Jagad's tone suddenly turned stern and the look in his eyes was full of threat.
"If you can't let Danas go, I'll take him from you!"
Instantly, embers were ignited in Melvin's heart.
Now, it was Melvin's turn to laugh. Now it was clear. His best friend was waving the war flag at him. Declaring that he would fight against him.
"Well, take it if you can, Jagad. I'm just worried that you'll find it difficult to do so." Melvin again smiled sarcastically and slyly.
"I'll definitely do it! When that time comes, you'll regret losing Danas so much," Jagad said undaunted. The light in his eyes showed his sincerity.
From that moment on, Jagad silently vowed to turn his words into reality. He would do everything he could to keep Danas by his side. To free her from the cruel Melvin.
Melvin could see the earnestness in Jagad's eyes. There was an unpleasant feeling that infiltrated his heart.
