Chapter 41: Chapter 41

Jagad glanced at Melvin, signaling him to leave the room first. Otherwise, Jagad didn't know what his brother could do.

Melvin understood Jagad's meaning and chose to go downstairs. He felt it was better to leave the room than to receive Davina's angry outbursts.

"Liar! No, it's not. This is impossible. You must be joking. Why would Danas marry Melvin," Davina muttered, still trying to digest what she had just found out.

"Why should I joke, you can see it yourself, right?" said Jagad. The man understood the reason for his sister who seemed to be silent gawking like that. If he had been in his sister's shoes, he would have reacted the same way.

Davina stood still. It was as if she had just been struck by lightning when she learned the fact that Danas had married Melvin, the person who had destroyed her best friend's own family.

"Why did Melvin marry Danas? And why did Danas ...."

It was like being stabbed in the back. Not only didn't she know that her best friend was married, but of all people, Danas married Melvin.

"What is Melvin thinking? Isn't he satisfied with destroying Danas' family?" Davina snarled with widened eyes. Her scream could probably be heard all the way downstairs.

"You ruin people's lives!" Davina cursed, Jagad who saw her sister's behavior and tried to calm her down.

"Davina, you've got to calm down. You could have woken Danas."

However, Davina could no longer be restrained. The girl looked so disappointed and angry. In her condition, Jagad knew that Davina would not listen to anyone including him.

"Davina ...."

The woman's tears finally fell. She burst into tears. Davina's heart was very touched when she saw her best friend lying in a limp condition. And, it was all because of her fault too. She had made her best friend wait in the rain.

Davina was very upset with her current situation. The woman could imagine how hard her best friend's life was. All this time, her best friend had to bear a very heavy burden. Every day she had to go through a life she didn't want. Davina wondered if her best friend had gone through a hell-like life with Melvin. No, she hadn't. She was definitely treated like that. Just imagining it was enough to make Davina's heart tear.

Jagad rubbed his sister's back. However, since Davina didn't seem to be able to stop anytime soon, the man finally gave up on his sister. Jagad decided to leave her in the room with Danas. Jagad went downstairs and went to see Melvin.

Melvin looked alone downstairs with an annoyed look on his face. Jagad saw him and talked to him.

"Danas is fine, but she needs to be allowed to rest first," the man explained to his friend. Even so, Jagad looked away. When he asked Melvin to talk, he didn't see his friend's eyes at all.

"Yes," Melvin replied briefly in an awkward tone. Not long after that, the two of them fell silent again.

Jagad was still very upset about Melvin's treatment of Danas all this time. At this moment, he even wanted to immediately run Danas into his lap, and untie the woman from the man who had tortured her. Even though Melvin is Jagad's best friend, his actions towards Danas are really hard to forgive.

While Davina was still trying to come to terms with reality, not long after that there was movement on the bed.

"Mm ...."

Danas blinked. When he opened his eyes, he saw the ceiling of the room he recognized. He had no idea why he was in the room at all. His last memory was still vague.

"Ouch!" Danas winced in pain. His head still seemed a bit dizzy.

Davina who heard Danas' groan suddenly glanced at her best friend. Davina wiped the tears that were still flowing out. She then immediately moved from where she was standing and tried to carry Danas.

"Don't push yourself," Davina said while supporting Danas' head who was about to get up from the bed. The girl then asked her best friend to lie back down.

Danas was surprised to see Davina in her room. The woman wanted to get up immediately, but because her whole body felt stiff, she couldn't move immediately.

"Davina, I'm sorry for not telling you sooner," Danas said softly.

Danas knew that her best friend would be furious if she found out about her marriage to Melvin. There was no way Davina would let her. Davina was a friend who really cared about Danas.

"Why do you have to apologize? I was wrong for letting you wait alone in the rain," the girl replied with a slightly trembling voice.

Shortly after that, Davina's tears fell again. Davina burst into tears again.

Seeing her friend's condition like that, Danas also sobbed. Danas was finally able to get up, then sat on the bed.

Davina immediately hugged Danas because she was saddened by the woman's fate. "Why, why does Danas have to go through all this?" Davina screamed.

The sound of her crying boomed throughout the room. The sound of her hysterical screams could even be heard downstairs.

Davina hugged Danas tightly. As if, it was her last hug. Davina wanted to support her best friend through thick and thin. However, her current condition did not allow it. It was too late. Danas had already experienced the worst.

She was accused of doing something she never did. She was blamed for a death that was not her fault. As a result, her family's life had been ruined. Even Danas' own life was on the verge of collapse.

Davina wanted to scream at the top of her lungs for Melvin to hear. She wanted him to know that he had made a terrible mistake. That stupid man had been swept away by his own illusions and wasted a woman as good as Danas. It wasn't fair that someone as good as Danas should be treated so cruelly by the brother of her dead best friend.

"Melvin is a demon! Shameless! Stupid too!"

Davina tried hard to let out whatever curse words were on her mind at the moment. Still holding Danas tightly, she continued to yell at Melvin who was downstairs.

Meanwhile, Jagad and Melvin could only stay silent listening to Davina's echoing curses.

Jagad pretended not to know. The man was just silent. Even so, deep in Jagad's heart, he agreed with his sister. He didn't deny Davina's words because he also thought that Melvin had gone too far.

Before torturing the lives of others, the first thing Melvin should have done was to check the truth of his sister's death. However, the man swallowed the information whole. And blindly vented his anger on other innocent people.

Feeling that Davina was out of control, Jagad decided to go back upstairs and pick up his sister. He rushed up the stairs and entered the room where Danas and Davina were.

Jagad saw Danas who had woken up. The woman's face looked pale. He could tell that Danas was still very tired.

"Davina, we should go home. Danas needs to rest," Jagad explained to his sister.

However, Davina didn't seem to want to let go of Danas. The girl thought that if she let Danas go now, something bad might happen to her soon.

Even so, Danas slowly let go of his best friend's embrace. He looked up at Davina with a knotty smile on his face.

"I'm okay," the woman said.

Davina couldn't bear it, but she obeyed. Her best friend had said so. She couldn't press any further. After all, Davina realized how weak Danas' body was right now. As she held Danas' hand, Davina could feel that it was completely helpless.

"Call me if anything happens," Davina said to her best friend.

Danas replied with a small nod. "Of course," the woman said still with her gentle smile.

Jagad grabbed his sister's wrist. Both of them were about to leave Danas' room.

Before they left, Jagad turned to Danas. He said, "Take good care of yourself," with a worried look. Danas only replied with a faint smile.

Danas still didn't know why he was suddenly in the room. He also didn't have time to ask Davina and Jagad. In fact, the woman was also confused why her best friend could suddenly appear there. However, among all that, Danas felt happy because his best friend cared so much about him. Even though Danas was afraid that Davina would hate him.

Downstairs, when Jagad and Davina were about to go home, they passed Melvin. Davina threw a cynical look at the man. Davina seemed to want to devour the man who was the husband of her best friend.

Melvin didn't understand the meaning of Davina's gaze. He didn't know the reason why she could look at him with a look of deep hatred. In fact, Davina should know that she was very sad about Amaira's death.

Then, the next words that came out of Davina's mouth made Melvin even more confused.

"I don't know what made you torture Danas, but you have the wrong target."

Her words made Melvin silent for a moment. He was only stunned when he saw the backs of the two people leaving his house. The words spoken by Davina really left a puzzle in Melvin's mind.
