Chapter 35: Chapter 35

Jagad was silent hearing Davina's words. He pondered for a long time after Davina left and went into her own room. Of course Jagad still had his wits about him, he knew that Danas was someone's wife. He didn't want to be called a usurper.

"What does the world say?" Jagad thought. He realized that with everything he now had, he could win any woman's heart.

Jagad was a smart man, rich, and had a good job. Who wouldn't be attracted to him? But for some reason, until now Jagad still chooses to be alone.

Everything seemed to change when he met Danas. He couldn't just ignore her. Although he finally swallowed his disappointment when he found out Danas was already a wife.

Moreover, her husband was not someone else but Melvin, her own best friend. There was no way he could take her away. Jagad repeatedly pulled her hair. He wanted to be able to ignore and forget Danas' existence from his head.

But the more he tried to forget him, the more Danas' shadow became entrenched there. Especially now, when he knew the important problem that was wrapped around Danas. That woman was in very big trouble. Danas couldn't possibly leave her alone.

"Aah, how is this? I can't just ignore this problem. My humanity is rebelling. She shouldn't be in the position of always being blamed and even worse, accused of being a murderer. When it's clear that she didn't do it."

"But if I intervene in this matter then I will be called a domestic intruder. Oh God, what should I do?"

Jagad then sat back on the sofa. Both his hands were on his back. Jagad tried to calm himself down and didn't want to think about anything anymore. His eyes closed, he breathed several times, trying to calm himself down.

But he couldn't get the image of Danas' pitiable and sad face out of his mind. He continued to haunt her.

Danas did look tough and strong on the outside but he knew very well the woman's heart was very fragile he did not know how long the woman could survive in the heavy problems that were currently confining her.

Jagad continued to think, obviously he could not remain silent knowing the severe problems that were afflicting Danas. Moreover, it was related to the murder of Amaira, the sister of Melvin, her own husband.

If he gets too close to Danas then he can mess things up like Davina said earlier. He would get labeled as a usurper, which was never in Jagad's life plan.

Jagad then opened his eyes and let out a rough breath. "Give me time to think, I'll help you in my way but I also have to be careful. I don't wanna mess things up, instead of helping you, we all get ruined. No, I don't let that happen."

Jagad then stood up and walked into his own room. He felt very tired today. Jagad wanted to sleep and regain his strength that seemed to have been drained that day.

Meanwhile in her room, Davina had an annoyed look on her face. Her lips kept pouting. She couldn't understand what her brother was doing. All this time she knew her brother was a good man. He was very careful when dealing with all women.

That's why until now he still chooses to be single. He doesn't want to play with women let alone hurt them but what is he doing now? Look at him approaching someone's wife.

Davina bit her lip. "I can't let Jagad keep getting close to someone's wife. It's very dangerous for him. But how? I see Jagad can't seem to get away from that woman. What a headache!"

Davina lay down on the bed. She didn't want to fall asleep yet. Her eyes were still staring at the ceiling of the room.

"Huh. How could he even like a woman with a husband? Doesn't he sell well?" grumbled Davina. "Looks like he wants to make a new history in the family by taking someone's wife," she added. Just remembering that gave Davina a headache.

At breakfast Davina looks quite cold unlike usual. In front of her is Jagad who is also equally silent. Usually, the two of them chat or make fun of each other at breakfast so that the atmosphere becomes warm and lively.

But that morning both of them were silent. It made their parents look at each other and wonder what was going on with their children.

They knew that the two of them must have been fighting. That's how the two siblings were, when they had a problem they would ignore each other and act indifferent.

Sensing a bad atmosphere, his father finally asked Jagad. "Jagad, what's with the silence? Do you've got a problem?" his father asked to the point.

Jagad, who was chewing food, choked a little because he didn't expect to get a question from his father suddenly. His mother, who was opposite him, hurriedly got some water and gave it to her son.

"Drink up, eat calmly. Don't think while daydreaming," she said.

Jagad accepted the water from his mother and gulped it down. After that, he said thank you.

"So, what exactly is your problem?" This time it was his mother who again pushed Jagad with the question. Jagad immediately answered her.

"It's okay, Mom. There's no problem, I'm okay," he said while forcing himself to smile. Of course, Jagad's answer made his parents dissatisfied because they already knew that he had something to hide.

The mother finally asked her daughter. "Davina, what's wrong? Why are you two like two enemies? If there is a problem, talk about it and solve it well," said her mother.

Davina, who was still slicing bread, turned to her mother with a sullen face. "I don't have any problem, the one with the problem is Jagad."

Her mother turned her eyes to her son and watched him. Jagad pretended to be busy with his food.

Davina continued her complaint. "Mom, Jagad is weird. How could he like a married woman?" Davina said rudely.

The two parents of course immediately stopped eating and glared at Davina. While Jagad hurriedly swallowed his food, he didn't want to choke on his sister's nagging.

With a questioning look his mother then turned to ask Jaga again.

"Jagad, is it true what your sister said?" she asked with an annoyed look on her face.

Jagad was about to open his mouth to defend himself, he wanted to deny the accusations made by Davina. But somehow his mouth seemed to be locked tightly. Jagad finally could only shrug his shoulders.

The attitude of Jagad certainly made his father and mother frown. Both of them looked at each other.

"Jagad, you shouldn't mess with women." So said his father. His words were short, but they were clearly irresistible.

His mother quickly replied. "That's right, Jagad. You must choose a woman who is equal to you, and more importantly, she must be single. Don't look for a woman who already has a boyfriend, let alone one with a husband. It could get messy and become a big problem!" she said.

Jagad finally opened his mouth and shook his head. "No, don't worry, I'll take good care of myself. I didn't do anything that you can imagine. I apologize for not being able to tell you everything but believe me, it's not like you imagined," Jagad explained.

This time he tried to defend himself. He didn't want the people around him to have their own assumptions. Indeed, he was also in contact with Danas and later found out about the big problem that happened to him, not of his own free will.

"Trust me. I'll be fine." Those were the only words that finally came out of Jagad's lips.

Davina glanced at her brother. "We listened and took note of your promise," Davina said curtly.

Jagad shrugged his shoulders again. "Calm down I can still think sane and I'm not as crazy as you think."

"Stop, that's it! If Jagad doesn't confess and has promised not to make trouble, then let it go." So said his mother. The woman tried to mediate and break the suddenly tense atmosphere.

She didn't want their breakfast to be disrupted just because of an unnecessary disagreement. "Go back to eating," said his mother as she offered him a plate of side dishes. She even offered Jagad to get one for her. "Do you want this fried egg?" his mother asked.

Jagad then shook his head while pointing at his own plate which still had pieces of egg. "No need, Mom. I haven't finished this yet, I'm already quite full," he said.

"You've got to eat a lot, you'll be working in the hospital all day and meeting a lot of your patients. So a doctor must take care of himself and always be fit before he helps those sick people," his mother began to lecture.

Jagad nodded with a small smile. "Yes, Mom. Rest assured that I will always be healthy and strong," he said with a smile.

Seeing that the problem between his children had seemed to be resolved, his father also resumed eating. The middle-aged man sped up his meal when he glanced at the watch in his hand, it was almost 8 am. He had to rush to the office because at 9 o'clock there was an important meeting.

Jagad's father finished eating the fastest. He then stood up and then said goodbye to his wife's children. "I'll go first, I've got an important meeting this morning," he said as he picked up his briefcase.

His wife then accompanied her husband and opened the door, while Jagad and Davina were still at the dining table. Although in front of her parents, both of them were softening and no longer arguing, Davina's eyes clearly implied that she still didn't like what Jagad was doing.

Unable to remain silent, Davina again said to her brother. "Anyway, Jagad don't go near her again if you don't want to get into trouble!"

"Why don't you believe your brother?" Jagad finally asked his sister in a half-protest tone.
