Chapter 32: Chapter 32
Deg.
Jagad and Renata's eyes rounded at what Danas said. Sharp and precise. Melvin considered Danas as his sister's murderer, while the real culprit was... Renata!
"Is this the reason why Melvin hates her?" Jagad thought. He was so shocked by what he had just heard that he held his breath for a while. He digested what really happened.
If that was true, how wrong and stupid Melvin was. He had sentenced an innocent man while allowing himself to fall into the arms of the real killer.
Jagad rubbed his face, trying to realize that his ears had heard right and his eyes had not seen wrong. He was an eyewitness to the truth being revealed.
All kinds of feelings and prejudices were now jumbled in Jagad's heart and mind. They made his body tense, stiff and he didn't know what to do. For a while, Jagad could only stay in place and observe what was happening in front of him again.
Danas and Renata were still facing each other. Both of them were like enemies who each held a weapon and were ready to stab the other. It was possible that in the minds of both of them there were only two choices left, kill or be killed.
Danas' eyes were now unblinking looking at Renata. She dared himself because there was no choice but to dare to fight. Danas had never had a problem with anyone until she met Renata.
"Now, I realize that Melvin hates me. You've twisted the facts. If it was me who killed his sister, it wouldn't be you."
Danas made another conclusion sentence. She made it so clear that it made Renata even more tense and her body trembled with fear and anger.
"Are you threatening me?" Renata asked angrily. The woman did not blink as she looked into Danas' eyes. Obviously, her gaze was threatening. She was the one threatening him but he felt threatened.
Renata, the master manipulator, her a personality was shaped by circumstances. All this time, she had achieved everything she wanted, with all her tricks. She who has dared to kill Amaira is now faced with Danas.
Renata is at a loss, she seems to have made the wrong path. Expecting to make a straight and smooth road but instead making a hole that makes it mired and so difficult to close again. That big hole is Danas as if she wanted to, she could bury him alive at any time.
Renata thought of many ways to get rid of Danas but everything seemed mental because she also had to deal with Melvin. She doesn't want to lose the man, on the other hand she knows her position is threatened at any time when Melvin knows the real facts.
No matter what kind of alibi she created, Renata couldn't lie to her own heart. She was the one who actually killed Amaira and then passed the big sin on to Danas. But how long can her false story last?
In front of her, Danas smiled slightly. Danas was smiling as she watched her enemy act boldly even though she was clearly masking her fear.
"No, I'm not threatening you, but I'm reminding you of the truth. What Melvin would do to you if he knew that you were the murderer of the woman he loved."
Danas' smile grew wider, he felt satisfied to be able to say that. She now realized that she wasn't wrong. So, why not just reveal that fact and create a little shock effect for Renata?
If someone is cornered and cannot bear the pain, they will rise up with all the strength they have. Sometimes that strength is even more than ever imagined. The power to survive and defend themselves, that's what Danas is now feeling.
"Have you ever thought about it? How disappointed Melvin would be with you. Not only would he be furious with you, but I'm also sure he would curse himself for being so stupid."
Danas' words became sharper, like a bullet that pierced straight into the heart of her opponent. Danas noticed the reaction of Renata who was now silent. Danas had won that battle.
Feeling annoyed by what Danas said, Renata chose to leave from there while. Danas sighed harshly.
Renata left the place without looking back. Her footsteps were so hurried. The sound of her shoes could be heard loudly pounding on the gravel garden path.
Danas was still watching Renata's departure. There was a strange feeling growing in her heart. She had succeeded. Yes, she had succeeded in cornering Renata even though she didn't have the courage before.
"No matter how neatly you hide your lies, one day the truth will be revealed. Renata, you don't know that even the dead can rise again in their own way."
That's how Danas felt. She knew that Amaira, who had died in an unnatural way, would surely seek revenge and uncover the secret in her own way.
Renata's shadow was no longer visible. She had disappeared behind the tall buildings of her university. While Danas was still in that place. Without Danas realizing if anyone heard what he and Renata were talking about.
Jagad didn't expect the conversation between the woman he liked at first sight and Renata to be so deep. The most surprising thing was when he found out about Amaira's death.
How could Renata do such a terrible thing? A woman who was considered meek could be so willing to take someone's life and scapegoat someone who was innocent.
"I can't let something this important just evaporate. The guilty must be punished, while the innocent must be cleared," Jagad muttered as he pulled out his cell phone from his shirt pocket.
Jagad thought about telling Melvin right then and there. However, when he was about to call Melvin, he decided against it. "I can't tell him now if there's no proof. He definitely won't believe me. Hmm, I'll have to think of another way."
Jagad saw Danas still standing in his place as if frozen. He then chose to get closer to Danas. Jagad thought, if he was going to tell Melvin, surely Danas must know. After all, all the evidence was in Danas' hands.
The man also made up his mind. He couldn't stay silent and make the woman he secretly loved suffer because of a mistake she never made. Jagad would help Danas, in his own way.
Slowly, Jagad came out of the trees where he was hiding. He made himself as natural as possible and didn't want to startle Danas. He greeted the woman with a voice that was not too loud.
Right when he was behind Danas, Jagad stopped. "Hello, Danas. How's it going here?" Jagad said a little awkwardly.
Danas spontaneously looked back and his eyes widened when he realized who was coming. "Ja-jagad? I-I'm alone. How did you end up here?"
"I happened to pass by earlier, then I saw you talking to Renata."
Jagad's answer made Danas' heart rippled. "Jagad, were you listening to our conversation?"
