Chapter 21: Chapter 21

Melvin's eyes searched for Danas' whereabouts but couldn't find her.

" Are you looking for Madame, Master?" a maid asked as if she knew what Melvin was looking for. "Madame has left for college, she's making breakfast for Master," the maid added while looking at the table.

Melvin nodded his head as he signaled the lady to leave. Very rarely, he saw Danas in the morning, she seemed to avoid him. And, probably would continue to avoid her, considering he had forced her to serve.

Melvin didn't utter a single sentence as he savored the meal. Until, there was the sound of clattering footsteps heading towards him.

"Honey. I called you but you didn't pick up." Renata's voice was heard approaching Melvin who was eating. She sat down without waiting for Melvin to order her, even grabbing the food that the man was eating. "I haven't had breakfast yet, you didn't pick up my phone."

Melvin didn't care at all about what Renata was doing. Renata looked around for a moment. "Where is that woman? Is she still sleeping?" she asked while devouring Melvin's food.

"No. She's already on campus," Melvin replied simply.

"Oh. Um, this is really good. Who cooked it? Did you make it, honey? I can't believe you can make fried rice this good," Renata commented.

"I didn't make it, Danas did," Melvin replied, making Renata immediately spit out all the food she had just eaten. It was delicious, but she didn't want it to be cooked by Danas.

"What, so this food was cooked by that woman?" asked Renata in an incredulous tone, a moment later her face looked angry when Melvin answered with a nod. "You ate the food she cooked?"

"Her food is delicious," Melvin replied briefly, the man had just admitted that Danas' food was delicious but unlike Renata, the woman looked annoyed and left Melvin.

Even the sound of heels being used sounded rudely stomped, even when meeting some maids, she snapped even though they didn't make trouble for her.

Elsewhere. Danas was chasing Davina, she was still trying to get her best friend to listen to her explanation.

"Dav, please listen to my explanation first," exclaimed Danas trying to talk to her best friend but the woman didn't want to listen to what she said. "Davina. Please, listen to my explanation," Danas shouted but it was useless, the woman he called really didn't care about her.

Davina just walked away. Danas sighed harshly, she wanted to talk to her best friend, but how could she do it if her best friend continued to avoid even listening to what she wanted to say.

Danas didn't know what else to do, so that Davina would listen to his explanation. She knew that what she had done was wrong for hiding the marriage from Davina.

"I want to explain everything to you." Danas monologued to himself. Danas' tears fell, she immediately wiped them away.

"Hey, why are you always crying?" asked a voice from behind.

Danas was surprised by someone commenting on her, she looked back to see someone in a white shirt suit standing behind her, Danas had to raise her head to see his face. The man's hand was holding out a handkerchief to her.

"Here, to wipe your tears," the man said smiling.

"No thank you," Danas refused and quickly walked away.

Her chest felt tight as the tears flowed unbidden. If only there was someone other than God who could listen to her complaints, she would probably be very happy.

"Do you think by crying, others will pity you?" asked a female voice she recognized. The woman's face stared intently at Danas.

A slapping sound rang out as Danas just saw who the woman was, making Danas unable to dodge.

The man who offered a tissue to Danas, was Jagad, he was surprised to see Renata's presence there. He knew that Renata was Melvin's girlfriend. However, Renata didn't realize she was there.

"Renata, you-"

"Let go of Melvin, or I'll make you suffer more than this," Renata threatened.

Danas looked down, then chuckled at what his former best friend had said. Seeing Danas laughing made Renata furious.

"What are you laughing at?" asked Renata.

Danas, who was still laughing, looked at her and smiled. "You! I'm laughing at you. Are you begging me to let Melvin go? I'll do it but can that man let me go? I wonder. I'd even be grateful if I got away from that guy," Danas said expressing her feelings, making Renata once again want to throw a slap on Danas' cheek but was thrown away making Renata annoyed.

"How dare you." Renata was so furious that she couldn't even argue with what Danas said. That woman had started to fight her.

Hearing that small quarrel, made Jagad even more curious about what made the two women quarrel. He was even more surprised when he found out that Danas was Melvin's wife.

"Look. I'm laughing at you begging a legal wife to divorce her husband. It's not me who's a bitch, Ren, it's you-" Danas stopped her words with a smile.

This time she didn't want to be oppressed by Renata. She had to be able to protect herself with that woman. She wanted to slap him but he looked sharply at her.

"He's my lover, you take him," Renata said firmly.

"Do you think Melvin would still think of you as his girlfriend, if he knew the truth?" asked Danas, he actually said it carelessly but the look on Renata's face made what Danas was thinking come true.

"What do you know, huh?" challenged Renata. "Don't threaten me, you think I'll be afraid of you, Danas? No one will help you," said Renata angrily.

"I've thought about it, the reason that guy hates me. After I thought about it, I thought that if I was wrong, you wouldn't have done such a thing. However, it seems my thoughts were right."

"What were you thinking, huh? Don't threaten me, Danas."

"I'm not threatening you, Renata." Danas' voice rose.

Jagad frowned at what made Renata's face pale when Danas asked the question.

"I will report to Melvin what you have done," Renata threatened.

Danas looked at Renata coldly. "Just report it to him, that way it's easy to tell him the truth. The real story about Amaira's death."

Renata paused, her hands shaking slightly as she was about to call Melvin. "Why don't you call him? Are you afraid that I'll tell him the truth?"

"D-danas, are you threatening me?"

"No, you're not. I was just wondering how Melvin would respond if I told him the truth about you being the killer, Amaira's sister?" Danas spoke up again, causing Renata to fall silent. Her face flushed, her eyes rounded. She couldn't believe what Danas had just said.
