Chapter 216: Chapter 216
Then Charles Anderson turned to the IT team.
“I want to see every corner, every area, every exit and entrance of this barracks!” he roared in panic.
“Sir, what about the men in the field?” the team leader asked cautiously after nodding in response to the command given.
“Forget them, they are no longer of any use now that the enemy has its hands on them,” Charles answered waving his right hand dismissively.
“I want to see if the ones I am after would grace me with their mighty presence,” Charles murmured as he busily looked at every screen. “I am not so sure they would choose to join their team to attack me back for gatecrashing their wedding but knowing the bride too well, I won’t be surprised if I see her face coming for me at this moment.”
Charles keenly observed every angle on every screen. He was tracing Brianna’s figure among the intruders. They were all in full gear, but knowing Brianna for more than a decade, Charles Anderson could tell even her shadow. And he was more than confident to think that once he sees Brianna, it won’t be challenging to find the Michaelson already.
“All I need is a chance,” Charles mumbled. He had a lot of firearms within his reach. He could shoot from a distance with a sniper rifle, he just needed to find his target. And since Charles had been after the Michaelsons for almost all his life, he knew that there had never been a single woman in their army. So, if he would see a feminine figure, he had no doubt, even in the slightest that it would be none other than Brianna Peters, the most wanted on his to-kill list!
While Charles Anderson was in havoc and panicked, Terrence Clayton remained relaxed as he enjoyed his calming tea. He turned his microphone off without Charles Anderson noticing and while keenly staring at the screen to watch Charles’ every move, Terrence dialed a number on his burner phone.
“The barracks in the forest is being attacked, gather as many men as you can and send them to finish everyone you can find. Bomb the whole property if necessary, do not let it get traced as one of my properties. We might get all our targets in one shot this time. Don’t waste it!”
Terrence called his lawyer son who knew almost all of his engagements, activities, and secrets. He also made use of his son’s profession to create and build connections in the strong pillars of government and society to make sure he has trump cards to pull whenever he needs one in his most desperate times.
“And after you deal with this task, meet the judge closest to the one in charge of my ongoing lawsuit trial. Bribe them first, if it doesn’t work, you know what to do next. Am I making myself clear to you?” Terrence asked his lawyer son.
“Yes, sir!” Roger Clayton affirmed like a soldier to his superior.
They were family. Pure blood-related family, because Terrence Clayton was his father. But everyone in their family; the wife, the children, grandchildren, and in-laws have never felt the affection of a husband, father, or grandfather, needless to mention in-laws coming from this man, Terrence Clayton, because he had always been a dictator. He had always ruled their family with iron hands. It would be a joke if one would think none of the children had tried to break free from such suffocating familial ties and relationships, but they have suffered the consequences of disobedience and willfulness. The rest of the family even thinks of Roger as the pet and favored one to be right by their father’s side, knowing almost everything, but he suffered the most, to protect his siblings and mom and everyone that Terrence Clayton would have burning eyes to stare at.
And Terrence knew this weak point of his smartest son, Roger. He wanted this boy to follow in his footsteps in the military when he turned of age, but Roger disappointed him by running away to pursue what he wanted to be. The act of waywardness burned Terrence in great fury but no matter how he tried to find the boy with all his might and connections, Roger managed to hide from him. Until one day, Terrence found out his son was taking law for his higher education studies. Roger remained hiding, not knowing his dad had already known where he was and everything he was engaging with, but he had not said a word to anyone about his true intentions about wanting to learn more and everything concerning the law.
Terrence had not seen it coming from his son, Roger, that he would choose such a career path. But when he thought about it deeper, he came up with a wonderful idea that he could gain more profit by having a man who knows the law in a more accurate way, so instead of scolding Roger, he started to support everything his son would ever need. Even those things and connections he just assumed Roger would need along the way, he paved his son’s way to the top. But all he could do were matter outside the school, apparently, his son was among the top-ranking students in his class and batch that Terrence needn’t have to go under the table to assist Roger. He was doing his best. Roger was earning his recognition without the shadow of his influential politician father.
But when he started his professional journey, Terrence realized Roger’s reason for becoming a legal practitioner. He wanted to help his mom file for divorce and break free from the bondage of marriage with Terrence! The fury Terrence felt when Roger first disappointed him was doubled this time. Terrence felt so betrayed and could not forgive so he threatened Roger that the son will regret everything he was doing against his father because he will destroy that woman Roger was so eager to protect; Terrence's wife, Clara Koriv-Clayton.
Roger saw the passionate rage in Terrence Clayton’s eyes when he declared his words that he shook in indescribable fear. His years of preparation to finally help his mom be set free from her cage of marriage popped like a bubble into thin air. And when Terrence saw that fear, he made use of it to trample down on Roger’s willfulness. And the more he saw fear registering on his son’s mien, Terrence gobbled and swallowed Roger wholly down to disable him from doing anything against Terrence’s will.
As a result, a decade passed with Roger pledging loyalty to his evil father. Helpless to do anything for his emotionally suffering mom and siblings, but to top it all, he is being labeled as the worst son for doing what he is doing without the freedom to act on his will.
Well, not until someone succeeded to put Terrence Clayton behind bars!
Roger knew his father had a lot of men loyal to him in the military connections, subordinates, followers, and supporters, so he could not be incautious and heedless in his actions. But it didn’t mean he would stay idle since the Devil was somehow unable to use his full power to do evil.
So, when Roger knew about the group of Terrence Clayton’s most loyal men going to break into the prison facility, he made a call using a burner phone to the Michaelsons. They are the only ones Roger could think of that would be able to handle the situation accordingly. The Michaelson is the most undefeated enemy his father had ever had over the years, also the only one who had triumphantly overthrown the country’s Vice President off his seat by providing strong evidence of his unlawful deeds and crimes.
At this point, Roger keeps his spot next to Terrence not because he is still worried about what might happen to his mother and siblings if he disobeyed, it was more to be well aware of this devious man’s every move and the opposite of his every command.
As evil as it may sound, Roger was not willing to help his father with anything he wanted to be done anymore. Terrence Clayton had been living such a despicable life, as a family man, as well as a politician, and as a man who knew the law, Roger could not take this criminal’s actions anymore. Roger was beyond regretful about being useless for many years because he feared his father to death, but not anymore. Terrence was now comparable to a barking dog without its canine teeth to give a deadly bite any longer. Roger knew this was the perfect timing to let Terrence Clayton pay for all his wrongdoings.
When Jack tried to hack into the Claytons' firewall, Roger was notified. But instead of allowing the hacker gets through, he shut it off and through a different internet portal, Roger sent everything that would press the Ex-Vice President Terrence Clayton down.
“B?! B?! Oh my god!” Jack called Brianna’s name with an unknown tone if it sounded excited or worried. But when he got no response, his calls turned even louder. “Brianna?! Brianna Peters, can you see this? Check your screen, Bree!?”
