Chapter 160: Chapter 160
It was because Brianna pulled out her small gun with a suppressor. A Beretta 21 Pill Bottle. She was just careful not to miss her targets, and as they were too close for her to miss, the ones she shot with utmost discretion dropped to the ground.
The civilian bodyguards were quick to assist Anna and Lucien, but as another wave of men was rushing towards their direction, the team leader boldly suggested an idea.
"Backup is on the way. We will buy you time so you can leave this place. Go!"
The place had turned thrashed as things of different kinds flew here and there while others were exchanging blows at each other. One bodyguard was fighting against four or five of their enemies but trying to lure the rest to fight with them instead of chasing Lucien and Anna.
But that was what the bodyguards were hoping to do. The gangsters' leader signaled what to do. Some remained on the spot to fight the bodyguards, but more were given a go signal to run after the two.
"I want them in the warehouse before lunch. You can beat them but do not dare bring me a corpse!" He did not even restrain his voice. He was shouting in the midst of a public place. People were hiding, but they were obviously watching. They had to at least know who to point a finger to when they get the chance to complain about all the damages caused by these pests in society thugs.
Lucien and Brianna busied themselves getting out of the area, wherever they may take an exit; Brianna was confident they would bump into a team from their backup. She continued to take the lead, and Lucien was obediently following behind her until…
"This way," Anna turned as soon as she saw a very narrow alley. She kept running. She was excited to see some of their men ahead of her direction. "They're here." She was fastly breathing, but she stopped when she realized something. "Lucien? Eh…" Brianna looked back.
"Fuck! God damn it!" She blurted.
A man from their troop saw Anna. They followed her direction, thinking she was leading them where to go. They ran as fast as she did, and the team leader caught up with her.
"Boss B!"
"I can't find the young Michaelson! I am tracing back the path I took on my way here," Anna answered without looking. She was looking on her sides and in every possible direction that would give her a clue of where Lucien was. Until they arrived at the west gate of the whole market area, she saw a van where Lucien was being dragged to get into. He must have been knocked out as to why Brianna did not notice he was taken because he did not get to make a sound.
"Give me all the weapon you have with you, and did anyone bring a bike coming here?" Brianna spoke with graveness in her tone. She was squinting her eyes as she tried to grasp any identifications that would give Jack even the tiniest information to keep an eye on that vehicle so she could follow with a safe distance.
She pulled her phone and dialed a single number—one of her speed dial buttons.
"Jack, I need you to give me the directions where a silver van, with a print Mrs. Dumbfire Laundromat on its sides, went. They got Lucien, and they just left a minute from the west side of the public wet market. I will be on a bike. Tell our men to leave five minutes after me. I will let you know the situation beforehand. We cannot be reckless and endanger the young Michaelson's life," Brianna spoke firmly. She was not worried, but she was concerned. If anything happens to Lucien, Leandro Michaelson will not take it so easily.
The men with Anna who heard her words moved accordingly. They gave her weapons, but as she was busy holding a phone with one of her hands, they geared her up.
Among them, one was kneeling on her side, securing a leg gun and knife holster. Another one with a slim physique took off his bulletproof vest and secured it on Anna's body, adjusting to her size for comfortability. Then another person topped the ballistic vest with an ammunition magazine vest, making sure all the strings and locks were secured.
When she was done talking to Jack, she checked her pockets. As expected, there was a spare wireless mic and earpiece securely stored in a metal box. She put it on and checked if it was working.
"Blake, do you hear me?" Anna asked. Blake was not among the people around her, so she chose to speak to him.
"Boss, loud and clear."
"Where are you located right now?" Asked Brianna, mounting the bike one of their men presented her, checking its built adjustments for her comfortability.
"At the Northside of the market. We blocked some of the gangsters. I believe we have the skipper in this attack," Blake replied, followed by a sound of a hand slapping another person lightly.
Blake was tapping the cheek of the big guy that Brianna heard gave an order to the gangsters to chase after her and Lucien.
"He is just a frontman," Brianna blurted to herself, making Blake hear her words as well. "I am going after the real person behind all these. Check your time, and connect to Jack after five minutes from now."
Blake did not get any chance to confirm his Boss' commands because she had already cut the line. But he heard the sound of a motorcycle, and he ran with speed out of the market, hoping his intuition would satisfy him to see Boss B was leaving in a bike like he thought she would. Before Blake even reached the door to exit the market from the north gate, a black rider bike passed his sight. Staring at the figure above the bicycle, Blake cannot be wrong to say it was indeed Boss B. He looked at his military watch. He set a timer according to his boss' orders and jugged his way back to join his men.
"Make sure this asshole does not cause us any trouble," he ordered. "We have somewhere else to go. Let's go!"
He ordered his men to get into their vehicles. They need to get ready and move when they get the new order from Jack Foster. But the man was busy guiding B which direction to go. And the van did not go too far from the wet market area—a warehouse of farming supplies.
"Jack, I am going in," Brianna declared. He parked her ride a warehouse apart from where the kidnappers took Lucien, and when she got a good view of her path, she checked her pockets for anything useful, and she found a tiny drone. She knew they could use autopilot on this kind of drone, so she set the camera setting to connect with hers and to Jack then sent the drone to do its task.
"Be my eyes as I walk in," B ordered Jack. "I will take Lucien out, and you guys do the after-task. Find out who is behind all this."
"Got it," Jack answered as he quickly worked his way to access that line on the drone and have the bird's eye view on B's way to save the young Michaelson. But before Jack could even tell her anything, he got a call from Blake.
"Jack, Boss B ordered me to call you after five minutes. It's been five minutes. What do we do next?" Blake asked.
Jack Foster gave the exact direction on which way to go. And before he could end the call with Blake, he saw on the screen from the drone Brianna sent out to check the surroundings that a man was standing to the next corner where Brianna was walking to.
"B, watch out!" Jack shrieked. He saw Brianna fall to the ground. Unknown to what reason, Jack's panicked yelp alarmed the people who were listening to him over the phone. "Blake, hurry up! Go! Go! Go!" He barked at Blake Gordon.
"What happened?" Blake was startled, but his car almost vaulted from its spot when he stepped on the accelerator to drive away. He was panicked with how Jack Foster sounded. "God, damn it, Jack Foster, tell me! What the hell just happened?!" Blake screamed as he felt like he was flying blindly.
