Chapter 135: Chapter 135

Jack did not dally to do as Brianna asked him to do; he told Brianna everything he knew. And Brianna listened carefully. She wanted to be sure she got all Jack's information correctly and accurately. Brianna had so many questions, but she did not want to ask in fear that she might get noticed and seen on the cameras. She still has to hide the truth that she had her memories back. She kept her responses audible as she hummed occasionally.

"I know you hate the Michaelson's. And I swear on my mother's grave, I hate them, too," Jack stated with desperation in his voice.

Jack was actually worried Brianna would doubt his words for a fool, brainwashed by the enemy when she was unconscious. And he was worried because he was aware his intelligence was not as sharp as Brianna's. He could be correct, but he cannot ignore the possibilities of being wrong. Jack was also in the process of understanding, analyzing, and considering this and that in all the information his brain has received. Information that seemed too different from what they had been told a long time ago and reminded again and again over time.

"You can't imagine how horrified I was when I followed your trail on every surveillance camera you passed by along the road from the safe house after you visited your men, who happened to be sent to get Lucien Michaelson alive, you shot Charles Anderson on his chest, only an inch to his vicious heart and drove a car towards Leandro Michaelson's mansion," Jack spoke with fear and shock in his voice. "I was so scared; that was your enemy's mansion. His abode and it would have been well-guarded, no doubt. I tried every possible way to hack into every camera to have an eye on you. But I wasn't able. I was so desperate. I was worried you went suicidal and decided to walk directly into the lion's lair," Jack sighed. He paused to hear if Brianna would want to say anything, and when she did not make any sound, Jack continued.

"That is why when I knew you were stabbed by a poisoned knife, brought to Lucien Michaelson's villa to recuperate, I did not hesitate to drive there. At first, they denied me, but I did not let them shoo me away. If you are inside there, weak and vulnerable, I did not want to stay idle. I was thankful they let me in. I was able to see how you were doing with my own eyes. I was also able to assist on how to help you recover speedily."

Jack paused again. He heard Brianna grunting. A clear sign she was not happy with what he did.

"I know, I know, but you cannot expect me to do nothing," Jack argued. "Lucien flew with a troop of Private Army to rescue you on the battlefield; I only drove to a villa, I didn't do anything comparable to what he did for you. How can I claim to say you are dear as my little sister to me if I stay hiding with my tail between my legs?"

What he said made Brianna think about Lucien. She clearly ordered for him to stand back so she could do her job as his security, and she even threatened the young Michaelson that she would back out from the plans if he insisted on going with her on a mission; Lucien remained at the hangar where she boarded a private plane to send them to the location of the enemy. But Brianna was sure to see him before she lost her consciousness. He did fly to rescue her.

Brianna grimaced, her face wrinkled in indescribable annoyance.

"I can't be fooled," Brianna thought to herself. Then she heard Jack continue.

"When I had the chance to talk to them. Do you know what I felt?" Jack asked. Brianna hummed her reply.

"I felt the extreme cautiousness they have to protect you. As if they were doing the very same thing I would do for you if I were in their place," Jack sighed. "Honestly, it made me happy. I saw the deep concern in their expressions. And the man I told you about knowing your mom and you when you were a toddler is a friend of Leandro Michaelson. But Leandro Michaelson didn't even know your parents. He didn't have any reason to send an order to harm, let alone annihilate your family. I saw the fear in his eyes. Not because he's scared of you. But because he was terrified to know that his face had been used for a long time to be the bait on your training. To motivate anger in you and execute revenge. Who wouldn't be terrified? I told him myself that I was sorry because I hated him to the deepest core of my being. That if only I could execute revenge instead of my little sister, I would have done so. Because he was sitting right in front of me," Jack spoke with fierce.

Brianna grunted negatively again.

Jack softly chuckled; it was a sad sound. He was happy that Brianna was against his idea. It made him feel good knowing his little sister was also concerned about his life. He was also chuckling because he was a bit relieved that the person on the other line could not nag at him like she would sometimes do. And he was sad about such fact of his health conditions.

"Little sis, I am dying. I might die sooner than later. My heart is a failure. So, I guess finishing your enemy would have been a good goal for me. But I realized maybe he is not the right person to kill. He might not be the right one to get your parents' death avenged."

Silence filled the atmosphere. Brianna did not make any sound of response to Jack's statements, and Jack was also careful not to push his thoughts too much. Mainly because he wasn't sure yet; what he was saying right at the moment was only speculation.
