Chapter 124: Chapter 124

"Tell me, what can I do to help?" Jack Foster asked with eagerness.

He is pleased to realize that there are people willing to help Brianna solve and bring her parents' death to justice. No matter how hard he had tried, his capabilities and access to many things are still limited. Besides, it's always better to have two heads thinking for anything than one. And more the better if there are more than just two.

"You are going to tell us everything you know," Andy replied quickly. "Anything you could tell us might be very helpful."

Jack nodded vigorously. He was willing to do anything that would be helpful. Even if it means turning his back to the father his mom introduced to him. Charles Anderson. Her mom was already weak and breathless when she told Jack about his father, and he will have to live with the man when his mom died. He was resentful, but he was only seven years old. He had no way to survive with his weak health and no adult around him, except under Charles Anderson's care. He knew the man even checked their DNA; although he did not see the results, Jack was not interested to find out. There was also the intention to remain his firm acclaim that Charles Anderson was not his father at all.

"I would like to see Brianna first," Jack pleaded. He was not fully aware of her condition. He only heard she was injured and poisoned. He knew a few of such things from B's and the previous team members' experiences, and he might have the knowledge to help her recover speedily if he could see how her body is reacting from the antidote. His words changed. "Actually, like is not the right word to say, I need to see her."

"And why is that?" Enzo sneered. She was still skeptical about this guy. His words don't prove much of anything he claims. They have to have concrete evidence to trust him.

Jack smiled contently. He is glad that these people are almost as protective as he was to Brianna.

"I have seen her get injured and healed over the years," Jack replied. "I need to see how she is reacting to any medications you are giving her if there is, or how is her progress of recovery to that poison."

The three men were almost about to agree Jack was right when Leandro's phone rang. He quickly answered the phone as soon as he saw it was Lucien.

Lucien was asking his grandpa to let Jack Foster see Anna. Lucien was also desperate to make sure Anna recovered soon and adequately. He had heard how the two, Anna and Jack, spoke over the phone; Lucien was somehow comforted by the thought that Jack cares for Anna. And they need all the help they can get to ensure her safety.

"Okay, okay, I got it," Leandro answered to the man on the other line of his phone with a nod. "We'll be there in a minute or two."

Leandro turned his eyes to Andy, then he spoke. He told him what Lucien wanted and somehow asking for their opinions, looking at Andy then at Enzo.

"Luci wants this Jack to see Anna," he stated. His spoken words were few, but Enzo and Andy could grasp the silent warning to stay alert. There was only one Jack against the three of them, plus Lucien; there would be four of them against Jack Foster if he ever tries to pull a stunt and make a fool of himself to hurt Anna.

Jack was too ecstatic to notice, or he might have intentionally ignored their silent glances. As long as he ends up seeing his dear sissy, he does not bother being offended or anything at all.

The General and Leandro's assistant nodded. They were not sure they clearly got the message Leandro was trying to tell them, but they were smart enough not to get the clues if the situation arose.

Alertness is already a part of their habits. Being in the military almost all his life, Andy was of no need to be told. While Enzo was the same, he may not be in the military, but Leandro's life has always been in great demand of intensive security that he is alert as if it is the air he practically breathes.

"Let me just warn you once more before we bring you to Anna's recovery room," Leandro spoke with a stern tone. "If you try to do any kinds of monkey business, I am afraid you won't see the next sunrise. And there are many ways to do it with you realizing the agony with extreme pain and regrets until death takes you."

Leandro was seriously and almost ferociously declaring his warnings, but Jack smiled with honest serenity, and he even thanked the old Michaelson.

"Thank you," Jack uttered.

Not just Leandro, Enzo, and Andy were slightly taken aback at Jack Foster's response. Jack did not keep the reasons to himself.

"I am glad to know that there are so many people who are protecting her like you all do," Jack admitted. "Well, there is her team who would also die for her, but to see you all so concerned and as eager as I am to help Brianna find justice, I can't help but feel happy without reserve. It makes me feel the dawn for her success is peeking at a short distance."

The three were silenced by the immense emotion Jack's words successively conveyed that they had received somehow. Enzo walked to the door after Leandro gave him a nod as a signal.

"Jack Foster, I will show you the way."

Jack was obviously trying to hide his excitement, but it still showed when he rose abruptly from his seat and, with a frisky attitude, he crossed the distance to the door which Enzo was holding open.

Andy and Leandro walked behind Enzo and Jack. The latter was a bit astonished that they were heading to the same room where he was told to wait. He had a slight fear of being sent back to it and getting locked up again. But he was relieved to see the man beside him walk passed by the room he was in earlier and knock on the room right beside it. Answered or not, Jack did not hear, but the man opened the door widely.

"You cannot be loud; you know that, right?" Enzo reminded Jack Foster.

The latter just nodded his head with enthusiasm as his eyes flew towards the person lying on the bed. The room was dimly lit so Anna could rest without being bothered by too much brightness. And it was almost in the middle of the night. Jack spoke softly to Enzo.

"I need a flashlight or something small light to check on her," Jack requested.

Enzo did not want to leave the room despite Jack's request, so he dialed a number and asked for someone to bring a small flashlight to the room they were in.

Jack stepped closer. He saw Lucien sitting on a chair right next to Brianna. But the young Michaelson stood from his seat when he saw the men at the door. They just nodded at each other, and Jack continued to walk closer to Brianna. He was cautious not to let his tears show. Brianna was too pale. He was worried about her, too afraid that he might be right to think that the poison had somehow got too close to totally invading her bloodstream.

"Do you still have the weapon that had the poison?" Asked Jack to Lucien softly. Not that he was scared Lucien would not like him asking, but Jack was feeling too weak as fright swamped him.

"The medics have it," Lucien replied without caring for the item. She already had the antidote. And Lucien was more focused on attending to Anna that he did not care about anything else.

The flashlights Jack had asked for came, and he quickly checked on the patient.

"Please ask the medics to test what kind of poison is in her system," Jack was even more worried to find out she was in worse condition than he ever had witnessed before. "We need to know exactly so we can assist her with medications that do not interfere or worsen her conditions."

Lucien told Jack what she told him before she passed out.

"That technique is only applicable when there is no medical team to help her diagnose; it works, but excruciatingly slow. Hydration would only help flush the toxins out of her system, but her body could be suffering from too much pain. She is too weak to complain," Jack eagerly explained. "Look how pale she is."

"If the poison is like the one she was taught to use, it would be from a pufferfish, and it is deadly once it gets to her neuro systems. The most dangerous part is, there is no known cure for that toxin yet."

"Then what did she take from a tiny vial of powder she found in a necklace pendant of her attacker?" Lucien argued; worries were cloaking him again. He was not comfortable with Anna's request before she passed out.
