Chapter 118: Chapter 118
Lucien was overwhelmed by the realization that his grandpa Andy had seen Anna when she was still a baby. It made him feel goosebumps that a man he knew also knew Anna even before they met. It felt like they were somehow to meet somewhere in this lifetime, one way or another. He was so eager to ask for more details, but Andy replied with a sad face.
"I am so sorry, dear; that's all I can tell you now. I will check my notes and come again when Little Liz regains her consciousness. I want to talk to her, too. I have to ask her for anything she could remember, and maybe we can help her solve her parents' death case," Andy added with his tone conveying extreme sadness. Andy walked to Brianna's side and gently held her hand. "Please get well soon. We have so much to chat about. I want to show you how beautiful your mom is with the old photos I had managed to save over time with me. I even have a picture of you in a princess dress," Andy spoke so lovingly.
He felt like she was her own grandchild like he felt for Lucien. These two youngsters are offspring of people he owed so much in his life that he did not need them to be blood-related to be family. Andy felt the urgency to dig everything he could find about Elizabeth and her husband, Leith. He wanted to return back into his office, and as if a buried dream he had in his heart was dug up. It was to repay Elizabeth Patel Peters for what she had done for him many years ago. It had been in his prayers to solve her case before he leaves this life on earth. He felt like his prayers were finally getting answered.
Leandro and Lucien walked to Andy's side. The two patted Andy by the shoulders.
"Thank you, grandpa Andy. I am sure Anna will be happy to hear every story you could tell her. It might even help her recover sooner," Lucien gleefully uttered.
"I better go. I need to check every detail I can find about her parents' case. As well as her grandparents," Andy announced. He returned Leandro's pat on his shoulder and asked the Michaelson's to care for the girl he is more used to calling Little Liz.
"Don't worry. She is in good hands. I will make sure she is well taken care of," Leandro assured Andy. "If things get out of hand, I will call my son and daughter-in-law to assist Anna with anything and everything personally.
The general nodded with relief. He will be focused on his task if he can be sure of her safety and recovery.
"Don't worry, grandpa Andy, I will personally make sure she is fully attended to in everything she needs. I will be right beside her and let you know as soon as she wakes up," Lucien added.
"How about your way home?" Andy asked Leandro.
"Don't worry about me. My men are here to take me home after I make sure this young man here gets a good shower and has a good meal," Leandro replied with a playful sneer at Lucien. "Anna would surely not want to wake up with a stinking man around her."
"Grandpa...?!" Lucien whined. He smelled his shirt, checking if he was really stinking. He wasn't! But his clothes had bloodstains. He was too worried about Anna that he could not leave her side even with his Nana trying to persuade him to get cleaned up first and have his meal.
The two grandpas chuckled at Lucien's childish reaction.
"You better get that shower and meal if you want this old fox out of your sight sooner," Andy teased the two Michaelson. "Now get back to her side, you two, don't send me out. I know the way to the door," he added with an indisputable tone. "I might be back sooner when I get more information."
Andy left after a peal of short laughter and exchange of goodbyes.
"Now off you go," Leandro shooed Lucien away to get cleaned up. "Make it quick because I might just not call you if she ever wakes up while you're not around," he added with a threatening tone.
"Okay, okay! Jeez, I can't believe my grandpas are making fun of me," Lucien clearly expressed with disbelief and defeat. He went to check on Anna.
"I will be right back. I'll be very quick, okay?" he whispered to Anna, then he walked out of the room she was using to recuperate. In the hallway, he saw Tatum walking in his direction.
"Boss, I need to talk to you," Tatum hurriedly approached Lucien. They were still in their gears.
"Go ahead, but hurry, I need to get cleaned up and stay beside Anna," Lucien spoke while he continued to walk to his room.
"I have the guy Anna wanted to make sure we brought alive. She even jumped to block that poisoned knife to make sure this guy did not die," Tatum stated. "I was going to ask if you want the guy to be brought here to recuperate so Anna can see him as soon as she regained her consciousness. I have a strong feeling she will be glad to know the guy is nearby, but I am afraid of how she will react if she did not get to see this man as soon as she could."
Tatum was not so sure of what to do, so he asked the medical team if the guy could be attended at Lucien's villa or if he needed to be attended in a clinic or any medical facility. They said as long there was a doctor and a nurse to assist for any emergency, the guy with prosthetic legs would be just fine. His gunshot wounds were not fatal, and although he lost some blood, they were able to transfuse enough as he needed. And even if they did not remove his blades, his thighs had no strength to lift them, even for an inch. There was no way he could use his blades as his weapon to escape.
Lucien stopped from his tracks and turned to look at Tatum, eye to eye.
"Do you think so?" he asked.
Lucien could not deny that Tatum seemed to read Anna better than he does, so Lucien did not want to ignore Tatum's ideas when it involved Anna.
"Yes, boss. If I am not mistaken, this guy knows something very significant regarding her identity," Tatum replied with an absolute conviction.
Lucien was thrilled with Tatum's claim about the identity of this captive they have in their hands. Lucien was all out, in full support if it had anything to do with her.
"Okay, ask Nana Freya to prepare the room next to Anna's, and you keep an eye on this man," Lucien spoke excitedly.
"Sir! Yes, Sir!" Tatum replied with satisfaction. He was really hoping he could watch over this guy to make sure he is alive, and they could present him to Anna when she wakes up or when she asks of him.
Lucien almost ran to reach his room. He was a bit delayed talking with Tatum, so now he was worried he was taking too long to get back to Anna's side. He made sure he was thoroughly clean before leaving his room to find his Nana and ask for his meal to be brought to Anna's room.
On his way back to Anna, he saw a man in a stretcher being brought in. Lucien waited for them to pass by him, knowing they were heading to the room after Anna's. Tatum was walking after the medical team and a few of their armies assisting in carrying the patient and moving into the bed.
"How is he doing?" Asked Lucien to Tatum as they watched the rest of the team transfer the man to the bed. The doctor was checking his drips and pulse.
"The bullets Anna planted on his thighs were removed already, so he will only need to heal, and he will be able to speak again. We can ask him whatever we want to know when he wakes up," Tatum replied.
"Good. That is really good. We can motivate Anna to recover with everything she would want to do once she can stand on her feet again," Lucien claimed. Positivity was cloaking him. He was excited about how Anna would be very glad when she wakes up.
