Chapter 101: Chapter 101
"I think, since this is my home, how about I check the kitchen for anything we can eat before going back to your place?" Brianna asked.
She will still have to go with Lucien as his personal bodyguard to protect him for twenty-four hours until she is sure no one is after him anymore. She knew she shot that mercenary leader only an inch to his heart, but since he had minions around him, the possibility of attempts to attack her client was still on the table.
"Well, I won't say no to that," Lucien readily agreed. "I can head out to the kitchen and see what we can have for dinner while you get whatever you need."
"Okay, then. I will be out there with you as soon as I find them. Just don't put my house on fire, okay?" Brianna replied while looking around the collection room, then headed out to what she supposed as her bedroom- the last one they haven't checked by the end of the hall on the second floor.
Lucien did not stay in the room either, he decided he can have a look at this room again later. He cheerfully walked downstairs to check the kitchen. But he saw Tatum standing in front of an open door below the stairway. He looked amazed but he also looked like he could not dare to move even a step into the room he was checking from its door.
"What are you looking at?" Lucien could not ignore the curiosity and just walk his way to where he was supposed to go. He was as stunned as his driver when he saw what he was looking at with his own eyes. But unlike Tatum Elliott, Lucien Michaelson walked in with mouth ajar in wonderstruck.
"Are these real?" he asked mindlessly.
He was completely flummoxed at what he was surrounded with. He shouldn't be so surprised to see such a room as this in her home, but still, he was bewildered.
"So, here it is," Brianna walked in as she spoke.
Tatum who was right by the door was startled to realize that he did not even notice when Anna arrived. He must have looked stupid with how he slightly jumped at the sound of her voice. He used to be a private army in the government, he was trained to be a GI. He shouldn't be outdone by anyone among the ordinary individual when it comes to walking like a ghost. No sounds at all. But then again, Anna is not an ordinary individual at all!
"I have been looking upstairs for weapons and I haven't found anything other than stash for an emergency," Brianna walked to a corner and pulled a big, looking like a gym bag item from a rack. "You might find something you fancy, come in and look around," Brianna shook her head sideways to invite Tatum into the room.
In her thought, it would be helpful if Tatum was also geared up within his convenience to do his job more efficiently, saving their employer, which would also lessen Brianna's worry about their safety all the time. And that would only be possible if she is confident Tatum is capable to do his assigned task, moment by moment, according to its necessity.
"Are you sure, it's okay?" Tatum was excited but he was suppressing his reactions.
"I mean..." Brianna paused for a while. She did not want to say her thoughts as they might sound different from how she meant to say them. "Although I am sure the armory in the Old Michaelson's house was no less than mine..." she reasoned out while picking things to put inside the bag she has taken out to pack. "Still, you know... You can borrow from mine and give them back later or keep them," Brianna replied nonchalantly.
Tatum could not help his grin showing up, just to be gone instantly. Replaced with a slight nod, he remembered, Anna has lost her memory, it might be different when she got them back and realized what she said here now. He himself will not give his possessions away too easily if he was in his sane mind. So he just looked around and expressed his appreciation. He saw some which he would really want his hands on them but he let his self-control win over his desire and wait till she regain her memories and remind her if her thoughts would still be the same.
Brianna's armory is not only a storage room for her weapons in use. It also had her collections of rare military battle item collectibles. Some of the items displayed were her rewards of winning Airsoft Tournaments, a hobby which she would indulge when she has free time, but of course, with a different face, and as of right now, she has no recollections of so. She doesn't even have photographs to look into and remind herself. Jack Forster is not aware of this extra hobby of her. He is not into guns, there was no need or any connections she can introduce him into it.
Lucien did not envy Tatum this time. Although they were Anna's collections, he does not fancy anything deadly even for a hobby. Yet, he does not despise that about her either. It doesn't change his affections for this one in million girl he was happy he crossed paths with in this lifetime. He believes it is a part of her character that he will have to accept, besides, he admires it in her.
"Okay, I will raid the kitchen, first. You guys take your time here," Lucien walked out of the room and checked which direction to go next to get into where he was heading.
"Do you think he can manage to do that? Or, do I have to prepare my heart hearing a loud sound of the alarm blaring?" Brianna casually asked without even looking at Tatum as she packed her things.
Tatum could not help a soft snort slipping out of his mouth. A sound that made Brianna turn her head to look at him in the face.
"What?" she innocently asked.
Tatum did not know how to explain his momentary out-of-control behavior. His boss is going to eat him alive if he ever hears him say what was on his mind as for the reason he laughed. But looking at Anna's waiting-for-answer face, he looked around if Lucien was anywhere nearby. When he was sure his boss was already far into the kitchen, he was confident he won't hear whatever conversation was taking place in this room.
"Ahhhmmm... it's just that..." Tatum cleared his throat. "There had never been so bold, none had ever dared to look down on him like you would naturally do. Whether he is around to hear your words or not, and he is helpless about it. And it amuses me," he explained.
"Am I? I guess I am just too straightforward to say whatever is in my mind when I think the need to say it introduces itself," Brianna shrugged her shoulders, then continued what she was doing.
Brianna was thinking about heading towards the kitchen as soon as possible, or she is worried her boss might have survived the bullets but cooking may fail him.
