Chapter 12: Chapter 12
Abeer's POV
I dashed after her to the kitchen area. So that I can prepare a delectable meal for her. And, as I am well aware, instead of being exhausted after working for so long in her job and then assisting her buddy Chris, all she wants is some rest and a delicious supper, as I can plainly hear the sounds of hunger emanating from her stomach.
Perhaps rats were dancing in her stomach as a result of her hunger.
And if they didn't acquire the food in time, those growling sounds got louder and louder, and the rats started doing "Jinga lala hu." There was a Jinga lala hu type of dance going on there.
"So, Mr. Stranger, what are you going to cook for both of us?" Khushi inquired, rummaging through her shelf for heaven knows what ingredients.
"hmmmm... Let's start with some vegetable noodles and garlic bread, followed by white sauce pasta and cappuccino ", I said after a moment's thought.
"That's fantastic! So now I'll put the ingredients together for you." She replied cheerfully.
Khushi began preparing white sauce pasta as I began cutting vegetables.
While slicing the veggies, I questioned Khushi, "So Chris won't be joining us for dinner?"
"No, no, no... I let him to sleep with so much attempts. I couldn't take the chance of waking him up from his slumber. Otherwise, only God will know what occurred next and what style of dance he began to dance and sing again ", she said quickly, making me giggle.
She, too, joined in the fun, laughing and flashing her dimple smile, which just added to her beauty. I couldn't recall anything because I got lost somewhere, seeing her gorgeous grin made me forget everything around me.
"Moreover, I would save some food for him so that if he becomes hungry at night, he can eat it," she added with a smile.
This gesture of hers, helping everyone and being so kind to others, melts my heart every time.", I thought in my mind.
When she was busy making cappuccinos, I observed her hair was flying in her face, making it difficult for her to concentrate on her work.
Because they were continually distracting her from her task, I decided to assist her because both of her hands were occupied and she couldn't pull her hair behind her ear.
Slowly but steadily, I moved closer to her.
I've never been so close to any girl in my whole life. So I was enjoying that part where she was battling with her hairs.
Her back was to me, so she had no idea I was standing that near to her. I simply stand next her and pull her locks behind her ear carefully.
She is taken aback by my sudden touch, yet she feels numb at the same time. I can tell that from her facial expressions.
"What are you doing here?", She inquired, a surprised expression on her face.
"Simply tucking your hairs behind your ears, which had been bothering you for quite some time. I won't be doing anything else, so do not worry", I said, attempting to calm her racing heart.
I find her agitated as a result of my actions. Maybe it's because she doesn't like my touch, or maybe there's another reason behind her worries.
I began cooking the dinner while avoiding her eyes, so she would not feel uncomfortable.
The lights went out the instant I said, "Dinner is ready."
Oh! No, Khushi screamed in terror as the darkness engulfed her. She held me tightly and buried her face in my chest, where she began to pray to God.
I felt like an electric jolt rushed through me the minute our bodies met.
"Just relax, Khushi. Take a deep breath in and out ", I instructed her as I stroked her hair.
Only then did she come out of her prayer and realise what she had been up to.
"I... I... I have a fear of the dark. I... I... I am really very sorry.", she stammered back.
"It's all right. I see what you're saying. Everyone is afraid of something. And that's perfectly fine. After all, we are all humans.", I responded, assuring her.
Just a moment, please. I'm going to return.
"No... No... No....Please don't go," She begged, as if she was a baby terrified of the dark.
I took her hand in mine and said, "Okay , then come with me."
I escorted her to the balcony and sat with her there.
She sat with me with her eyes closed, recalling God.
"Open your eyes, Khushi." , I told her as I looked at her sweet face.
She cautiously opened one eye, then both, and was taken aback by the stunning view in front of her.
The moon, with its light pouring everywhere, adds to the grandeur of nature's vista.
I smiled and replied, "You, Me, and the Moonlight."
