That afternoon as usual, Alex took Ruby to the park after Ruby underwent chemotherapy. Alex does that to cheer up Ruby because he knows Ruby loves seeing flowers blooming in the garden. Just looking at a blooming flower can make Ruby smile beautifully. However, Ruby asks Alex to do something she hasn’t done for a long time and that surprises Alex enough.
“ What? Now? Why all of a sudden do you want me to do that?” asked a shocked Alex.
“ There’s no other reason, I just want you to paint me because we haven’t done it in a while. I wish you to paint me again, can’t it?” replied Ruby with a squeal.
“Of course I can do it for you, wait a minute, I’ll have someone deliver my painting material,” Alex said.
Alex called his housekeeper and asked his servant to bring his painting equipment to the hospital. After waiting for a while, a waiter came with painting material and Alex sent the waitress home. Alex prepares his painting tool and when he is ready, he starts with a subtle stroke of sketching Ruby’s face.
Alex has a very skilled hand when it is skillfully painted. With fine scratches, he could paint a sketch of Ruby’s face very quickly. Alex paints while staring at Ruby. Meanwhile, Ruby sits still while smiling at Alex.
Then all of a sudden Ruby felt a very strong headache and her eyes became blurry. But Ruby endured the pain. She kept smiling while looking at Alex even though she couldn’t see Alex’s face at the moment. At that time Ruby seemed to feel that she was going to be gone for good. But she kept trying to keep smiling while gazing at Alex by holding back tears welling up on her eyelids.
The unaware Alex was very focused on writing and when the sketch was finished, Alex focused on coloring the painting so he didn’t see Ruby at all. Alex had no idea that it was so great drowsiness that Ruby came to sleep for good.
“It’s over,” Alex said as soon as he finished the painting.
Alex smiled. He wanted to show Ruby the painting but when Alex stood up, he saw Ruby who had fallen asleep. At first Alex didn’t feel anything, and he tried to wake Ruby up. But several times he called Ruby by name and was about to wake her up, nor did she wake up.
Alex felt something was wrong, but he didn’t want to believe what he was thinking. Alex keeps trying to wake Ruby up because he doesn’t want to believe anything that comes to his mind. But no matter how hard he tries, Ruby won’t wake up. Alex broke down in tears as he hugged Ruby’s cooling body.
The white snowflakes came down as if trying to comfort Alex, who had lost his first love. The first snow of the winter witnessed Alex’s grief at losing his precious first love. It was a dark, cold day for Alex that she spent crying all day. Ruby’s passing without saying goodbye became a deep pain in Alex’s heart.
‘ Not all love stories will end happily, but some love stories deserve to be remembered forever. Even if it doesn’t end happily but your presence makes love bloom in my heart, I’m very grateful and I will always remember forever because you taught me to fall in love.
