Drake continued to chase Ruby until finally, he saw Ruby go into the toilet. Drake accidentally saw Ruby open her bag then took a bottle filled with pills and drank it. Drake lowered his gaze then decided to stand in front of the toilet and wait for Ruby. He didn’t mean to eavesdrop but vaguely he could hear Ruby’s gasping breath and it sounded awful.
Drake could only guess how Ruby’s face was right now. In his thought Ruby might look pale and in pain. He also saw how Ruby fainted before, he had also heard of Ruby's disease from Alex. But Drake knew he had no right to ask that. Drake realized that the reason Ruby ran away was because she didn’t want other people to see her in pain.
“Drake, what are you doing here?” asked Ruby who was a little surprised to see Drake standing in front of the toilet
“Can we talk for a moment?” said Drake which made Ruby feel a little weird because she could see the seriousness in Drake’s eyes
They also choose a more comfortable place to talk. Sit on a long bench in the corridor. Sitting side by side with a distinctive night atmosphere and the stars that decorate the sky seem to accompany them. The brief silence between them made Ruby feel a little nervous. Ruby was silent for a moment, her eyes shaking as if Drake’s question had rocked her. But then Ruby smiled and ended their conversation by inviting Drake to come back. Drake has no choice. Even though he really wanted to ask again, but he realized he couldn’t force Ruby to answer all his questions.
They then walked together. There was silence, neither of them spoke. With the cool night breeze. They swallowed the words that were in their hearts not willing to destroy the current calm.
Yes, peace for a moment. But in the end, the calm they felt was suddenly shattered and replaced by shock, disappointment, heartbreak, and pain. Drake felt it all when he saw Alex and Stellar kissing right before his eyes. Although he believed Alex could not possibly betray their friendship what he saw he could not deny.
His world was destroyed in that instant. Ruby tried to hold him by holding Drake’s hand but Drake immediately let go of Ruby’s hand and then ran fast along with the pain filling his heart. Although he could faintly hear Alex’s reply, Drake kept running. He ran fast as if he wanted to escape reality.
“The most painful thing is not when your lover betrays you but when you see your best friend betray you because we always have complete trust in them.”
