Chapter 51: just ignore her

“ You look so happy today. Any good news? ”Liam asked.

“ er….. not really” she said with a smile. She didn't think she should tell Liam yet.

“ Alright “ Liam said.

The ride lasted for an hour before they finally arrived at a beautiful mansion, immediately Liam's car got to the gate it opened for him automatically. All the walls of the building were painted in white. It was no worse than her house. She looked around and noticed a garden filled with different species of flowers.

There was a medium sized fountain in the middle giving the mansion a sophisticated look.

Isabella got down from his car ” what a beautiful house “ she said with a look of admiration.

”  Do you wanna look around? I can give you a tour “ Liam said.

” No it's alright let's get to work first“ Isabella said.

Liam nodded and ushered her into the house. Isabella got in, the living room looked fancy and almost everything she could find was white. If she stayed in this house for too long she might fall ill. It reminds her of a hospital.

” Where's your dad? “ Isabella asked.

” Oh my Dad, he went out but he'll be back soon “ Liam said casually.

Isabella was still looking around and suddenly a middle-aged lady came out from the kitchen. It must be Liam's mom, ” she thought.

“ Hey ma'am," Isabella said with a smile.

“ Oh you must be Bella right? Have heard alot about you from Liam ” Mrs Logan said with a warm smile.

Isabella returned a polite smile back to her. she wondered how much Liam knew about her. They hadn't even gotten to two months until they became friends.

Mrs Logan sat next to Isabella “ this is the first time my son had brought any of his friends home, especially a female one ” she said.

Isabella wanted to cry if not for the sake of the project she wouldn't even be here. She wasn't a fool she grabbed the hint in Mrs Logan words. She hopes Mrs Logan knows that there's nothing going on between her and Liam.

“ Bella, how is your mother doing? It's been so long since I saw Evelyn, ” Mrs Logan said.

Isabella didn't even know what to say. Her mother wasn't even familiar with Mrs Logan; she was speaking like her mother was her friend.

Mrs Logan continued ” your dad and Liam's dad were business partners for so many years. They were like best friends, at that time I had just given birth to Liam and Evelyn was pregnant with you. '' said Mrs Logan.

” I had wanted both families to come together. In fact , I had decided that I wanted to tell Evelyn that we should become in-laws. But unfortunately the Harrison's was a step ahead of us. I would have loved it if you were my daughter in-law instead “ she said while caressing Isabella's hair

Isabella was dumbstruck, her mother never told her about all this. She could only plaster a fake smile on her face.

Mrs Logan continued ” so sad my dear son is still single. So how's your relationship with your fiance “ she asked.

Isabella smiled sweetly as she thought of Jason ” it's been amazing “ she said.

Mrs Logan's expression turned a little ugly but she managed to quickly conceal it. ” Oh, I'm glad to hear you, dear, “ she said with a fake smile.

While Liam was heartbroken from Isabella's reply. He didn't know that Isabella and Jason were now together; he thought Isabella was only lying to his mom.

But Mrs Logan didn't seem to be planning to give up ” speaking about old times. I will be right back dear ” she said and quickly climbed up stairs.

Liam spread his hands wide as Isabella turned to look at him. “ Just ignore her,” he said unceremoniously.

Isabella chuckled “ it's alright. It's been a long time since I last felt a motherly love. My mom hardly has time for me and she's always busy ” said Isabella.

Soon enough Mrs Logan came back with a photo album. “ Dear, let me show you some pictures of Liam as a baby, ” she said with a smile.

Liam panicked “ mom what are you doing” he quickly rushed over to grab the album.

But Isabella reacted faster because she wanted to see Liam's childhood pictures. She grabbed the album from Mrs Logan while giggling.

“ Isabella give it back, ” Liam said, stretching his palm out.

“ Never ” Isabella said and was about to flip it open.

Liam suddenly grabbed it all at once from her. He glanced at her with a charming smile “ you are not allowed to see them ” he said.

“ Oh really? Is that a challenge ” Isabella asked with one of her eyebrows raised up.

She stood up and went forward to pull it from Liam. While they were pulling back and forth. Liam suddenly pulled harder due to the pressure Isabella fell right on top of him while Liam's hands were around her waist. Her hair sheltered her face, Liam gaze turned soft he raised his hand about to tuck her hair for her. But Isabella held his hand, stopping him from touching her.

She hastily got up from him “ am sorry ” Liam apologised.

“ It's alright “ Isabella suddenly giggled as she fiddled with the album in her hand.

Liam was stunned. ” how did you…. “

Isabella chuckled mischievously ” you didn't notice cause you were suddenly distracted. Anyways I won “ said Isabella.

She sat next to Mrs Logan. Liam watched as his mother carefully explained each picture to Isabella.

Isabella also nodded and they kept laughing. ” awwww he looks so chubby here “ Isabella said with a giggle.

Mrs Logan nodded with a smile ” yes dear, Liam loved drinking breast milk a lot when he was an infant. He didn't stop till he was two at that……. “

“ enough! Mom.  Liam cut his mother's words. '' Bella and I have a lot of work to do. ” Liam was so embarrassed that he felt like digging a hole to crawl into.

Isabella was trying to hold back her laughter.

” Bella just let it out, “ Liam said.

Isabella finally burst into laughter, she kept laughing till her heart content ” okay i'm done “ she said with an innocent look on her face.

Liam found all of her actions cute, he loved everything about her and he wanted to be more than just a friend to her.

” Let's go to my room, “ Liam said to her.

” son can I speak to you for some sec “ Mrs Logan said.

” Sure “ Liam said even though he was looking reluctant.

He summoned one of the maids to show Isabella to his room before heading to the kitchen with his mom.

” Mom, what is it? “ Liam asked immediately.

His mother smiled ” son tell me the truth, do you like Isabella“ she asked.

Liam nodded ” yes mom but she's already engaged to Jason “ said Liam.

” Son Isabella is so nice and gentle plus she's very pretty. Didn't you say her and her fiance aren't really together. Why don't you confess your feelings for her before it's too late “ Mrs Logan said.

Liam glared at his mother ” Mom I'm not going to force her to like me against her will “ Liam said.

His mother sighs loudly ” son you have to fight for her love if you truly do love her. They are not married yet they are just engaged. you are not being a third party moreover you have the right to love anyone you want.

“ oh mom Please you are just saying all these for the sake of dad. I Know dad's business isn't doing well presently and he needs the Andrew's help. That's why you both want to use me to get to the  Andrew's. ” Liam said with fury.

” Mom, do you think my love for Isabella isn't real or it's so cheap? He scoffed and walked away.

“ son… ” Mrs Logan called out to him but he had already walked away with big strides.

Mrs Logan could only speak to herself “ I am not only doing this for his father it's also for his good. I really like Bella. I have always wished to have a wonderful daughter like her. Since I can't now wouldn't it be amazing if she became my daughter in-law ” she said inwardly as a smile appeared on her face.

Back upstairs at Liam's Room

Isabella stared around as she lay eyes on his book shelf. She walked over and went through some books. She suddenly came across a book as a smile appeared on her face. She picked it up and sat on Liam's reading table.

At that moment Liam came in. “ Oh Isabella , sorry for keeping you waiting, ” said Liam.

Isabella was engrossed in the book “ oh it's alright ” she said without raising her head to look at him.

“ oh I didn't know you enjoyed this type of book ” Liam said as he approached her.

Isabella raised her head to look at him. “ Are you kidding me? Ama's novels are the best; she's one of a kind, ” said Isabella.

oh really? Then I guess I have to give it a try, ” Liam replied.

“ And if you haven't read the book then why do you have it in your room? ” Isabella asked with a puzzled look.

“ oh my cousin's sister Michelle was the one who kept it in here. She was too engrossed in reading this book and she had to prepare for her exams so she asked me to keep it safe for her before she returns ” Liam said.

Isabella laughed “ She made the wise decision because I am really addicted to this book. I could read any book written by Ama all day long. ”

Soon enough they began with the project, mid way through Isabella noticed that Liam was lost in thoughts.

She tapped him on the  shoulder lightly “ are you alright? You have been blanking out almost through the time we started.” Isabella asked with a concerned tone.

” Is there anything troubling you? You can tell me maybe I might be of help ”said Isabella.

Liam rubbed the areas between his brows. He was looking stressed out “ how can I tell her that I love her? ” he thought inwardly.
