It took David a lot of effort to replace the condemned goods thus he focused on reproduction since the mafias have refused to lend him a helping hand.

Sometimes he wondered how Alvin gained their trust and protection.

It's obvious they didn't trust him with Genesis on his tail, he needed to improvise unless he loses their partnership. The signed contract aside he can't force them to stay.

After all, they're gangsters.

Where's Kate when he needed her?

She wasn't helping him at all.

This angered him as he picked his phone to call her.

She picked after a few rings " I thought you have forgotten about me"

" Where are you?

" In my resort. Where else should I be? she mimicked imagining his darkened face.

" Can I see you?

" If you'll be able to get past security. I have to be careful with you these days"

" Fine. I'm coming over" she hung up leaning on her chair awaiting his presence.

A day she has been looking forward to.

The universe must have been against it as she received a call from the receptionist.

" Yes?

" There's a lady here to see you" she shrunk her face in confusion.

" A lady? What's her name? She inquired checking the footage then saw Bianca seated and rolled her eyes.

What does she want? She went to the reception nevertheless.

" Mrs. Kang, I wasn't expecting you"

' I know. Can we talk privately?

" Okay. This way" she led her to her office then offered her a seat.

" To what do I owe this visit? Bianca looked around the office impressed.

" I came to give you an invitation" Kate's eyes turned livid wondering if it was Alvin's engagement to Cynthia.

She wasn't interested.

" What's it about? She asked refusing to take it from her thus she dropped it on the desk.

" You won't know if you don't open it. I'll see you there I suppose" she looked at the invitation card and sneered.

The earlier she agrees to it the better for her to be rid of her.

' I'll be there"

" You better," said Bianca as she stood up and sauntered out of the door while she darted to the card on the desk itching to open it but she didn't.

Alvin was getting engaged yet he slept with her.

' you let him' her subconscious reminded her as she ran a hand through her hair.

They both had ulterior motives anyway.

Someone was calling her on zoom thus she picked it.

" Yes, can I see the footage?

" I couldn't find anything. There's no footage from that day but I did find something" she revealed footage of Alvin carrying baby Simon in his arms after the surgeon handed him to him.

Kate squinted her eyes as she stared at the screen then blinked while she grabbed her reading glasses and looked at them properly and sneered.

The hospital lied to her. Alvin lied to her but why? If he was breathing after the surgeon then what went wrong?

She zoomed in and noticed baby Simon was crying.

He seemed healthy. She couldn't help but smile at him.

Finally, she knew what he looked like but the smile died as soon as it came with the realization that she isn't going to see him again.

" Miss Kate? Her PA called as she snapped out of it.

" That's all I could find I'm sorry. They lied to you. I'm sure the hospital will say the truth in the court of law"

" Yeah. Thanks for the hard work. Can I know David's net worth again?

" A few millions. Who knows if he has any" both giggled.

" You don't say. Talk to you later I'm expecting him" she tells her closing her laptop.

She couldn't help but think if there's a possibility that Simon lives but she couldn't accept it.

It can't be. Alvin won't do that to her right?

The old Alvin would' she reasoned pacing. He had every right to considering he once told her that not knowing their son is her punishment for infidelity.

Will he really go that far? Make her grieve a living child?

She didn't think he was that wicked. Did he hate her that much?

Wake up Kate, the old Alvin will do anything to make you suffer' her subconscious tells her.

Please it can't be. I can't go through it a second time. She tells herself.

She decided to go out to clear her mind as she didn't like her thought but ran into David at the entrance.

" Long time no see Kate" she sighed leading him in.

" Why did you come?

" To give you a choice Kate. I made you who you are today unless you would have remained in Alvin's mercy. I tend to collect what you owe me one way or the other. Don't test me. Don't you dare betray me" Kate cackled then poked him?

" It seems you're tired of dealing with the mafias. I'll let them know. Don't ever threaten me again. I have paid what I owe. It's not my fault you couldn't handle it. I don't owe you anything David" she emphasized while he halt.

" Whose side are you? You've changed since the apocalypse. Were you faking it? Every businessman encounters a crisis at some point. Why are you doing this to me?

" You're incompetent. I know you know something about my son and you're not telling me. That makes the two of us. Well, I'm done fighting. I'm done" he gritted his teeth glaring at her then grabbed her.

" What do you mean you're done? Alvin is proudly wealthy. You have done nothing"

" It's not your choice to make. I came for the divorce in the first place which I haven't gotten. I'm done playing your games David"

" Admit it. You're still smitten with him. You're too weak to fight back. You don't have the guts" she intends to slap him but he caught her hand before it landed on his face.

" Am I right? He's playing you, Kate. You just wouldn't see it because you think he's an angel sent from the heavens to liberate your folks. snap out of it before you die in regret" she wiggled her hands out of his grip but he wouldn't let her go.

" Let her go" David swerved around to find Alvin glaring at him or should I say at his grip then he dropped it.

" Still begging for forgiveness when we both know what is hidden. She'll never return to you. I have been with her all these years so I get to keep her" he whispered but Kate heard him nevertheless then furrowed her brows staring dead at him but she wasn't in the mood to defend herself.

They should have it man to man.

" And whose fault is that? She's still my wife David. You can't change that. We're going to survive this. Whatever you did you do for yourself. None was for her interest. Don't ever touch her you swine" He warned as David clenched and unclenched his fist then looked around to find Kate gone.

" I'll find him sooner or later and she'll hate you forever. You can't hide him forever"

" I doubt if you'll live that long David. If you'll excuse me I need to find my wife" David burst out laughing.

" Wife? Are you listening to yourself? Kate is smarter than that. Keep deceiving yourself" Alvin furrowed his brows recalling the day he asked her about the divorce case withdrawal.
