-60-Weird fights.
"Whatever you are going through whether it's good or bad. It's temporary. So don't let your bad times make you lose hope and don't let your good times make you feel larger than life."[Christian]
.....
She stood still for a moment contemplating what to say to her when the beep of the phone fell in her ears. 'Shit! She had already hung up without waiting for my reply.'
Milly on the other side left the book there on the ground and walked up to her walk-in closet. Taking out the purse from the nearest collection and walked out placing her phone in it. She ran fast, opened the door of her car, plopped under it quickly. Her breathing was a little heavier, so she took a deep breath to calm her nerves. Quickly after it, she started the car going straight at the speed of 80km/h. Her hands shook a little by all the sweat that had produced on it but she ignored it.
Meeting Stuart was more important than wiping her hands off.
Riley bit the nails of her right hand, eating them in frustration.
"Oh, God! What should I do? I and Mindy almost fought in the morning and telling him that her mother and she are going to meet Stuart at this time would be disastrous."
She glanced down at her phone, looking at the time, realizing 10 minutes have passed since Mom had ended the call. She guessed she might have only 25 minutes left to tell Mindy about her mother's abrupt arrival.
She wandered around the room in frustration, but it did no help. Since she only took 20 steps and the area of the room was over.
In frustration, she muttered. "Oh, God! Please help me!"
Just when her words ended Mindy's voice interrupted her. "Honey, Come out, I have set up the table."
Her hands shook from his interruption. Closing her eyes, Riley bit her lip. Complaining to God.
"God I said to help me! Not to make me face the problem! Ah! What should I do? Should I tell him? Or should I lie?"
Abruptly, a hand landed on her shoulder.
"What happened Honey?"
She stumbled a little bit
In trying to maintain a little distance between them and coughed slightly, her eyes looking anywhere but him.
His hand that was placed on his shoulder was awkwardly hanging in the air. He slipped his hand behind his neck, rubbing the area a habit Riley noticed he would do when he was embarrassed yet there was no expression on his face. His brown eyes slightly narrowed but returned to normal making her feel like she must have imagined it.
He cleared his throat and she decided to speak for both of them to save themselves to be insulted.
She laughed a little trying to lighten the atmosphere.
"Umm, I think we should move to the table."
He looked up at her from bottom to top in slow motion. She saw his adam's apple bobbing up and down. He seemed like he wanted to say something but decided otherwise.
Nodding at her, he turned around walking out of the room.
Talking to himself, that she couldn't hear.
'She seems to have the strangest methods to reject me. But why does it hurt every time the same, no more than before.'
His shoulders slumped a little and though he wanted to pound the table, he decided against it.
'Riley will be scared if I did that.'
She hung her head low in disappointment and swallowed the lump in her throat.
'What's wrong with you? You made him madder than he already was! He was just asking you to come out and you shrugged him like that. You are too cruel Riley Brown!' Her subconscious voice made her feel more guilty than she already was.
Just another look at her phone and she darted towards the door she had wasted a total of 17 minutes just worrying about things.
He didn't even throw her a glance just placing the two plates on each side. A great habit he had developed when they eat together. He would place the plate of her before him and will serve the food on it before serving himself.
'It's so cute. And look you made him mad!' Her subconscious mind was taunting her and she stopped herself to scream in front of him to her mind. It would be stupid.
Taking a deep breath she walked up to his side plopping on the chair next to him intentionally creating a creaky noise by dragging it before sitting down.
But he ignored her like he couldn't hear her which was impossible since they were the only ones in the living room and there was no noise of anything other than them.
After getting ignored by him, she ate two-three spoons and looked at him again.
Christian could feel her fiery gaze on him. But he was purposely ignoring her just to make her realize he was a human too and he did have the right to be mad.
She cleared her throat looking up at him expectantly for a compliment. Which never came. Tired of his hot and cold attitude she finally spoke.
"How's it, Mindy? I hope you won't mind that I made it light. Because I remember you were complaining about acidity so I have made it with fresh herbs and spices. Yeah, also lightly cooked vegetables so that it won't turn your condition worse."
Christian's heart fluttered at her thoughtfulness. But then he remembered he was pretending to be mad at her. So he looked up his brown orbs boring into her black ones sending chills down her spine.
'Did I said something wrong? Why he is looking at me like that?' She shifted in discomfort at his gaze. And avoided his gaze, looking down she Raised her hand and placed the few strands of hair that were framing her face behind her ears. Hearing his sharp intake of breath she looked up with confusion into his eyes to find some emotion, but there was none.
"It's nice. Thank you for remembering my problems." His words sounding sarcastic to her.
She smiles nervously at his cold words.
"I wanted to tell you about something. Although I know it's a little bit abrupt but Mom is coming here, and I might need to accompany her for a while."
His hold upon the fork tightened. While a ripple of emotion passed through his eyes. Yet when he looked back, there was no evidence of it.
She breathed a sigh of relief.
'So he is not taking it seriously.'
"Mom didn't tell me about it! Where are you guys going? Is everything alright? I can help, if there is a problem!"
"No. No. It's just that she wants to meet someone. There is no problem, so you don't have to worry about it."
