Chapter 28: Chapter 28
-27-Remembering how she saved him.
"While the other man wanted her attention, He wanted her heart. It happens when you fall in love. You find yourself reclining towards them even when they practically hate you. You want to make wonderful memories with them. You try to adjust with them in everything they put you through. Sometimes feeling you can do it. Make a full-proof plan and apply it. Yet their feelings decide your future/your hurt." [Christian]
.......
"Sir the next meeting is in ten minutes." The afternoon of the same day Cynthia told him about his schedule while standing near his desk. Having spent almost an hour with Riley he had decided to come to the office to handle the work. After being done with the breakfast Riley had left for her office kissing his cheek. It had become a habit of her now. And he liked it.
After getting done with the information on how everything was behind his back. Cynthia was informing him about his meeting with the CEO of another company that had just moved from Los Angeles to New York City.
"Thank you Cynthia for what you have done for me in the last three months. I am going to give you a great bonus and a holiday week for your hard work."
Cynthia beamed with a smile of appreciation, "Thank you, sir, for your kindness. It means a lot."
He waved his hand to let her know he heard it. Just then her phone rang.
"Sir, Mr. William is here," Cynthia told him after hanging up. Waiting for his response. Sitting near the large window Christian stared at the silent atmosphere lost in his thoughts.
"Sir, about the meeting? Should I ask him to wait for ten minutes?" She asked him with a stiff smile. 'What was he thinking?'
"Let him in."
Walking through the lighted corridors of the Shine office building Stuart went straight into the elevator with a woman who was assigned to help him and his Assistant reach Mr. Evercast's cabin.
He had been told to arrive exactly at 2:30 but he was ahead of time. It was in his blood to be before the time. They were opening a branch of their publishing house here in New York. Their company was well known in Los Angeles, But here to grow they needed a partnership to grow. After getting information on various businessmen his brother had decided to offer three of them. Out of those three, they had gotten the appointment easily. Only The Shine enterprises had left them to wait for a month for an appointment. Though it was no wonder since they were at the apex of the food chain in the city. Last week, they were notified of the meeting schedule.
Even if He had heard rumors about the rudeness of their boss and his weird working pattern. Yet his legacy of success rate in business was too great to forget about his drawbacks.
Stuart stared at his reflection in the glass of the elevator, his hypnotizing blue eyes trailed over his perfectly ironed blue formal suit enhancing his broad shoulders and thin waist. His handsomeness showed as he smiled at the attendant who almost fangirled at the moment. Adding to that he was wearing his reading glasses that had added a charm to his good boy persona.
As the elevator doors opened with a ding sound on the 7th floor. They stepped out of it striding behind the woman who was their attendant for the day.
She opened the door for them to step into the cabin.
"Well. Thanks for assisting us, Miss?"
"Miss Annie. Glad to help."
Stuart nodded at her with a smile. As soon as Annie left behind them closing the door they were welcomed by the man of the hour. His face was full of scars but he managed to beyond look that maintaining his business face. The facade that his father had trained him to always keep on in the meetings.
"Hello, Mr. Evercast."
Christian narrowed his eyes upon him as he tried to remember where he had seen him. The man seemed familiar to him but he couldn't exactly think back to when and where. To not show his emotions on his face he finally answered back.
"Hello, Mr. William, So I don't have much time to waste. So I hope you can make your proposal quickly."
"Oh yes Sure Mr. Evercast."
After half an hour they were done with the proposal presentation. Stuart's assistant recollected all the important documents from the table. though he also noticed Christian's skeptical eye glances towards him as if he was trying to remember something.
"So what do you think about it Mr. Evercast?"
"I will let you know after a few more meetings Mr. William. Though I do want to know if we ever met?"
"Ah. No Mr. Evercast I don't think we ever met if we would have. I would have remembered you. Since my memory is quite good."
"Oh. Okay. My Secretary will get back to you about my response and the contract if we did decide to collaborate. For now, you can leave."
"Cynthia come and help them to the door."
Stuart nodded at him with a stiff smile, he couldn't find out if he will accept it or not. The man was as cunning as a wolf. They both left their chair with a handshake.
The moment Cynthia Returned she was surprised to find Christian waiting for her in her cabin.
"Sir. Do you need anything?"
Coming straight at the point he left the chair taking slow steps towards her door.
"Find out About This Mr. William more. I want to know everything about him."
Cynthia nearly gasped at his orders. He met him for the first time yet wants to know everything about him.
While Christian rolled his eyes at her knowing what will be thinking he decided to clear her doubts.
"Stupid Cynthia. Find out, if I ever met him. I am not exactly asking you to stalk him. I just feel I have seen him somewhere and maybe I know him. But I don't have any memory of it. So I am asking you to check his information for me."
"Okay, sir."
