Chapter 54: Chapter 54

THE NEXT DAY

5:30 PM

William sits in the back seat of the car looking through the glass while the driver silently drives the car. He is on his way to pick Kemi up for the date but he can't seem to get what George had said to him the day before out of his head.

He sighs as he swallows hard. At first, his purpose was to use her to execute his plan, he never expected he would fall for her so he didn't think all this through. He shakes his head get the thought off his head as he shuts his eyes. He would figure all that later.

As he arrives at the mansion, he walks into the foyer and freezes when he sees his father walking from the bar side with a glass of wine in his right hand.

He sighs before feigning a smile, "Good day father."

Richard walks over to him furrowing his brows. "It seems you have been very frequent here."

William moves his eyes from side to side before grinning lightly. "I do have a quarter here and a mother." William says giving him a knowing look.

Richard nods, "Of course, I have totally forgotten about your sick mother. I know you have your space here but you don't usually come this often."

William swallows hard clenching his fist tightly but didn't say anything.

"Are you aware that someone tempered with the guns?" Richard asks.

"Yes father, I have been informed about that. Anthony is already on the run but I'll be sure to bring him down."

Richard scoffs, "You? Is there anything you can do? Just leave it to Lexis, I'm sure he can handle it in a swift, if he even hasn't already." He starts walking away but pauses. "You can go on and see your mother. My regards to her anyways." He continues walking away while William stands there trying to put his anger in check as he clenches his teeth hard.

His body trembles in anger and he clenches his fist watching his father leave. Just then, he hears the sound of someone's walking steps and he turns his head to see Kemi walking down the stairs. She is wearing a red gown which is flared and stops a little above her knee with a pair of low black heels. Kemi keeps adjusting the top of her dress as she climbs down the staircase.

William had actually gotten her a wardrobe full of clothes after what happened to her with Alhaji Bawa. She can bet that the amount of clothes she has gotten from the two brothers after arriving here will be enough to open a boutique but despite her protests, they still buy it anyways.

William stares at her as she makes her way down the stairs. He sighs as he gapes at her before loosening his fist. He walks over to her with a smile on his face as he suddenly feels relieved.

"You look beautiful." He whispers to her.

She smiles shyly as she looks down tucking her hair behind her ear. "Thank you." She says in a low voice.

He offers his arm to her and she wraps her hands around it before they start walking towards the entrance. William leads her outside over to the car before opening the door for her. She enters into the car and he slides in with her.

"You really look good." He says to her as soon as the car starts moving out of the compound.

She smiles entwining her fingers before turning to him. "You look good too."

He smiles broadly like a child, "Oh thank you."

She chuckles at his cuteness as she tucks her hair behind her ear.

"Do you have any place in mind? " He asks her.

She gives him a confused expression. "What place?"

"Like um...A place we can go or places we can go. Places of your choice, somewhere that would be comfortable for you."

She bit her lower lip and nods slowly. She likes the fact that he considers her choices in the date. It makes her feel like her opinions matter to him.

"What if my choice is not comfortable for you?" She asks looking at him.

He shrugs, "It dosen't matter."

"I'm okay with whatever you're okay with." She says softly.

"Okay, let's do this. We'll have dinner first and then you can tell me a place of your choice."

She stares at him for a while before nodding slowly.

*******

They arrived at a restaurant and he leads her to a table. He pulls out a chair for her to sit before sitting across her. Most of the tables are empty and the only source of light is from a well placed candles and low coloured lights. A waiter approaches them and without a word, he pours them wine and leaves the bottle. He didn't give them any menu because William has ordered for everything on their way. Snappy. He doesn't want any interruptions from the wait staffs aside from bringing and clearing of the dishes.

"Are you good with wine? Or should I..." He starts to say but pauses when she shakes her head.

"It's fine." She says in a soft voice.

He nods before taking a sip from the wine. She slowly reaches for hers and brings it close to her lips before taking a sip from it. He watches her as she take sips from the wine and when her eyes meet his, she smiles.

He smiles warmly at her while she holds his gaze. He loves watching her, like an observer staring at some exhibition of some kind.

She places the glass on the table and looks around. "The tables are empty." She says as she continues to look around. "Is it because it's late?"

William clears his throat. "Um, I booked the whole place."

He says with a smile thinking he had said the greatest thing but his expression changes when he sees her shocked expression.

"That must have been expensive." She says almost yelling.

"I thought you would like it private." He says now unsure if he had done the right thing or not.

Kemi didn't say anything. Booking an entire restaurant would cost a lot and she just doesn't see the need for it but well, she guesses that's how he had always done things. That's exactly the same thing the underboss did at the boutique... Wait, why would she even be thinking about that man? She shakes her head.

"You prefer it when there're people?" He asks quickly.

She shakes her head, "Booking the whole place is a waste of money." She shrugs. "I know you have lots of it but you could use it for other things. If you're not comfortable with people, you could just, you know, book a VIP section."

He moves his eyes balls from side to side before looking at her. That's how he's always done his things. He never saw any reason to keep people around, whether VIP or not, if he could afford the whole place, he would just book it all. He has brought a few girls to places like this and none of them has ever felt uncomfortable or upset about him buying the whole place. In fact, they were always very pleased.

He smiles, "So you think it's a waste of money?"

Sho nods, "Of course. There are people out there who cannot even afford to eat here not to say, buy the whole place. I'm not trying to tell you what to do but..."

"Okay then.." He cuts her off. "It's won't happen again, ma'am." He says chuckling.

She smiles and shakes her head. "Don't call me that."

"Why not? Today, you are my master and I'm your servant so I will do as you say." He continues to smoke widely at her.

She chuckles making beautiful sounds that sounds like music in his ears. They didn't even realize when the waiter walk over to them to serve the first course.

William continues to chuckle, "Where should we go from here?" He asks her before he takes up his cutlery.

"We shouldn't be in a hurry to leave, I love the place."She says with a smile.

A relief runs through him and he smiles at her. "I'm glad to hear that."

When she sees he's cutting his meat into small pieces, she takes off the knife and fork to also start cutting her meat. He leans over to her and collects the cutlery from her before he starts cutting the meat into small pieces for her.

"Should I add ketchup?" He asks.

She stares at him before her eyes travel to the ketchup. Even if she has never tasted it before in her life, she nods.

"Yes." It wouldn't hurt to know how it takes like.

He takes up the ketchup and adds it on the meat before sitting down.

"Thank you." She says before taking a piece in her mouth. He watches her as she slowly chews the meat, enjoying every taste of it. He smiles as a satisfying smile crawls to her face, that's enough to make him full.

The waiter comes back after a while to change the course, a simple plate of fruit and cheese.

"Thank you." She says to the young waiter who smiles back at her.

"Please enjoy your meal." The waiter says before walking away.

She stares at the meal for a while as if debating whether to eat it or not. She wonders why on earth would people eat fruit and cheese? Should it be classified as food or what? She smiles anyway and slowly takes up her cutlery to cut a piece of the cheese. He watches her as she eats, calmly bringing each morsel to her lips. He marvels at the pleasure she takes from each bite with her face amazingly expressive as she savors every bite as if she is tasting it for the first time...-well, of course, it's her first time though.

She looks up at him before her eyes travel to his untouched meal. "You're not eating." She points out.

He looks at his food like he's seeing for the first time before smiling. "Oh..." He looks up at her. "I guess I got too caught up in some beauty eating hers." He smiles at her and she looks away smiling knowing he's referring to her.

She gazes at him over her glass as she sips her wine and he keeps glancing at her every now and then watching her slip a grape between her lips while smiling coyly as her teeth crushes the skin of the fruit, exploding the juices into her mouth. He reaches for a strawberry on the plate but she deliberately snatches it just as his fingertip touches the ripened fruit, taking him by surprise. She grins as she takes a large bite from it chuckling.

"Oh wow." He says folding his arms across his chest as he stares at her. "How mean." He offers her most the most convincing pout and she smiles before feeding him the rest.

The waiter comes back after a while to serve the last course, dessert. He takes a piece from his dessert and reaches across the table to feed her a small bite. She can't help but smile with pleasure at the sweetness, so creamy and rich.

Her innocent pleasure makes its way across the table, straight into his heart. He has never been so satisfied just by watching someone enjoy a meal. She looks so adorable and beautiful that he can't seem to take his eyes off her. He sits back on his seat and takes a large bite with the enthusiasm of a child. She laughs quietly at his playfulness as she watches him.

He takes another piece and feeds her again, the piece larger than the first. Some of it is left on her lips and of course, he did it on purpose and she knows it.

"You did that on purpose." She points out chuckling and he makes a guilty expression like that of child.

He reaches towards her before she can take the napkin on the table. She stares at him puzzled as she wonders what he is going to do.

He leans towards her placing his hands softly on her cheeks and kisses her softly, tasting the sweetness of the dessert mixed with the fruit she has eaten. Her eyes grow wide in surprise and she swallows the rest nervously freezing on her chair. If she was a fair skinned person, her face would visibly be burning red right now.

The kiss is a short one and he pulls away with his hands still on her face staring at her.

"See? It's clean now." He says with a grin.

She bit her lower lips and focuses her gaze on the dishes in front of her. She lifts her eyeballs to look at him, smiling broadly.

" How naughty." She smiles.

He rises from the table and steps over to her holding out his hand which she takes and rises. She lets him lead her away. They cross the room to the open door which leads to the exit of the building. The air is quite warm and everywhere has become a bit dark. He takes her hand in his and they walk over to the car.
