Chapter 52: Chapter 52

*Third person POV*

Richard is aware that Lexis left home and he has been really pissed about it. As he relaxes in the balcony, he turns in his chair to one of his men.

"Give me my phone."

He nods and quickly gives it to him.

Richard collects the phone and dials Lexis's number and he picks up on the second ring.

"Hello father." His voice comes out calmly as usual.

"Where are you?" Richard asks even when he knows very well that he's at a hotel.

"Why? Is there any problem?" Lexis asks in a puzzled voice.

"You preferred to leave your house to a hotel rather than staying with her?"

"What's it to you with where l live? I'm not a kid, I can do what I want."

Richard frowns, "Well since you know you're not a kid, don't behave like one."

At the other end of the call, Lexis rolls his eyes in annoyance. His father is pissing him off the more and it's starting to get on his nerves.

"Will you send men to come and force me back home or what?"

"What would it take you to just obey a simple instruction?"

"I agreed to get married, what else do you want?"

Richard scoffs, "You agreed to get married? I know your tricks Lexis, you will not marry her. I'm sure you must already be cooking up plans on how you will escape this marriage.

Lexis moves his eyeballs from side to side on the other end of the call. His father is right. He really has no plan of marrying Rahila. He has already been thinking of methods to make his father stop disturbing him about the marriage and he knows he would come up with a good strategy soon.

"Let me do what I want." Lexis says.

Richard shakes his head, "Not this time Lexis. I will arrange a date for the two of you at Lawrenceville restaurant. So do well to comply and be there."

"Wait, what?" Lexis's comes out with shock.

Richard didn't wait for him to say anything else before he hangs up. He turns to one of his men.

"Book a reservation at Lawrenceville restaurant and make sure everything is perfect. Send details to Lexis when you're done."

He nods and quickly leaves to carry out the assignment.

*AT THE LAWAL'S COMPANY*

Lexis has been dragging time for as long as he could but he knows it cannot be avoidable. He is currently in his office and it's almost time for his date with Rahila that his father has fixed without consulting him. He knows very well that his father will not let him rest until he does what he wants him to. The man is just so relentless when it comes to his own selfish gains.

Even if it's for business sake, he still can't stand the fact that Rahila is an overbearing arrogant girl who is nothing but a daddy's girl. All she knows about is to boast about her father's wealth and title. He doesn't have plans to get married, ever. And there's no way he will get married to her just because his father wants him to.

"You still have to go underboss, you can't hide from it."'

Erica says standing beside him. She has come over to the company to remind him about the date because he might forget. Although, Richard would constantly remind him. Sometimes, you would think that she's his secretary or assistant with the way she goes out of her way to do things for him but she can't help herself. She has been with him before he became this cold and ruthless and so, she's willing to give him her utmost loyalty since she cannot be his friend anymore.

She has been with him for a long time and she knows just when he's having second thoughts on certain things.

Lexis sighs relaxing into his seat. "She can wait." He takes up his phone from the table and starts scrolling through.

Erica knows he's just trying his best to put his anger in check. She has worked with him for years and is very much aware of his impatience. She knows he's not the type to tolerate any nonsense from anyone not to say, a woman and so, she knows that he will lose his patience soon.

"She could complain to the boss again." Erica says with a shrug even though she knows Lexis is not scared of his father. Infact, there's nothing the man fears but she also knows that he doesn't like it when his father sees him in a bad light. She knows he likes to appear all perfect, like the perfect son, in front of his father, so his father would continue to trust him and he would not lose his father's favor.

"That's all she knows to do." Lexis shakes his head as he focuses back on his phone.

Meanwhile....

Rahila is filled with so much excitement as she stands in front of the mirror holding a silver gown to her chest. Richard has informed her about her date with Lexis and she's been glued to the mirror since.

"Hot, handsome..." She smiles as she mutters to herself. "He's even more respected than the older brother."She scoffs. "Why would I not want someone so perfect? He's exactly my type." She grins putting on the dress.

After a while, she's done dressing up. She doesn't care if she would appear overly dressed, all that matters is that she would get what she wants.

"He's a man after all. He would all hard for me soonest or at least, for my body." She smiles to herself before walking out of the room and makes her way over to the exit.

*LAWRENCEVILLE RESTAURANT.*

Few hours later, she arrives at Lawrenceville restaurant. The whole restaurant is empty and there is low music playing in the background and everywhere is very quiet with other persons.

She is led to their reserved table where she takes her seat to wait for Lexis.

"I can't believe he's not here yet." She grumbles as she place her bag beside her.

A waitress walks over to her and bows her head. "You're welcome miss." She says with a smile as she gives the menu list to her.

Rahila collects it and starts going it before giving it back to her.

"Just get me strawberry smoothie for now." Rahila says to the waitress.

The waitress nods before going over to bring it.

AN HOUR LATER.

She is already exhausted waiting, so she concluded that he isn't going to come and stands up to her feet turning around to leave when she sees Lexis walking into the restaurant.

She pauses, staring at him approach her with a frown on her face. Lexis takes his seat opposite her, totally ignoring her angry face, before using his index finger to call the waitress.

The waitress comes running over to him.

"Good day sir." She smiles at him with her eyes fixed on his face. He is already used to people falling over his beauty so it isn't surprising when the waitress is drooling over his looks.

"Give me the menu list too."Rahila says still frowning.

The waitress gives the list to her and she scans through the list before turning to the waitress and opens her mouth to speak but then she pauses when she sees the waitress still staring at Lexis.

Her frown deepens, "Are you taking orders or not, do you not know to do your job properly?!"

The waitress quickly turns to her. "I'm sorry. What should I get you miss?" She asks quickly when she sees the deep frown on Rahila's face.

"Get me red lobster and chicken with shrimps." Rahila replies before looking away from the waitress.

The waitress nods and turns to Lexis who is staring at his wristwatch obviously not interested in whatever is going on.

"What should I get you sir?" The waitress asks to get his attention and that's only when he raises up his head to look at her.

"Just get me black coffee." He replies plainly giving the menu list back to her. Rahila gives him a puzzled look.Yes, that's all he needs. He needs the bitterness of the coffee, he likes the way the bitterness stings and it has always helped o calm him down. It's what he needs right now to calm himself.

"Black coffee?" She asks in disbelief.

He stares at her blankly without saying anything. He simply turns to the waitress.

"That's all I want." He smiles at her and the waitress, as if controlled by his smile, nods her head continuously like a robot.

"Right away sir."

"Just get to it." Rahila says irritated by the way the waitress is eyeing her man. Then she turns to Lexis who is looking looking at the table, tapping his index finger against it continuously.

"You left me waiting for almost two hours." She says crossing her arms across her chest.

"It was actually an hour..." Lexis corrects her still looking at the table. "And you should be happy l even came."

She laughs hysterically, "That's all you have to say? Even if you don't like me, shouldn't you respect me enough to be on time?"

Lexus sighs and raises up his head to look at her. He scoffs, "Respect? Oh come on Rahila, you know that is earned. And you.." He shrugs. "Why the f**k would you get it?"

She swallows clenching her fists beside her but didn't say anything.

She nods her head, "Fine. Let's stop talking about it, so we wouldn't ruin this."

He didn't say anything but simply keeps tapping his finger against the table as if contemplating on what to do.

"When would we get married? She asks before adding on. "I'm not trying to rush it or anything. I'm just wondering."

Marriage is definitely not what Lexis is looking up to. Infact, he never planned on getting married, ever. Why would he be tied to one woman for his entire life when he can just f**k any girl he wants? What's the use of marriage? Is the main purpose not for sex and children? Having kids is definitely one of the reasons he never wants to get married. It's not like he has anything against kids though but feels he would fail woefully when it comes to that.

He raise his head up and could see Rahila's mouth moving but since he's not paying attention, he couldn't hear a thing that she's saying. And then, the waitress comes back alongside a short fair woman who is in her mid 40s.

"Mr.Alexander Lawal, it's an honor to have you in our restaurant."The woman says smiling at him and he slowly turns to her. She continues. "I'm the manger here, my name is Elizabeth."

Lexis nods, "Everything has been quite well, Elizabeth."

She smiles broadly as if that's the best thing she has heard in her life. "I'm glad to hear that." She then turns to Rahila. "It's good to have you here Miss Rahila Bawa."

Rahila feigns a smile, "You too." She says curtly before turning away.

"I hope everything is to your taste as well?"

Rahila turns to her, "Yes, no problem at all."

She nods before walking away alongside the waitress. Rahila picks up her cutlery to start eating while she stares Lexis from the corner of her eyes. He hasn't taken a sip from his coffee but is simply focuses his eyes on his wristwatch.

"Is there a problem?" She asks now looking at him fully.

He didn't say anything and just as she fix her eyes back to her food, he stands up.

"I have somewhere to be right now." He says flatly.

Her eyes grow wide as she stares at him. "Where are you going in the middle of our date?"

"I have a meeting at the company and it's very important. Um... Enjoy your meal." He feigns a smile at her before walking out.

Rahila sits there in shock of what just happened. How could he just leave her like that while they just started eating? She clenches her fist in anger as they tremble in fury. It feels like she's about to explode from anger.

"Argh!!!!!!" She screams as she pushes the plates of food from the table causing them to shatter on the floor into pieces.

The workers run over to her alarmed. "Miss...Miss is everything okay?"

"Get out!!" She screams at them as she picks up the glass of coffee Lexis left on the table and throws it at them.

"All of you are mad! You have poor service!" She yells at them in anger before picking up her bag. She glares at them before walking out of the restaurant while they stare at her leave in utmost surprise.
