Chapter 47: Chapter 47

*Third person POV*

William stares at all the bouquet with a confused expression on his face. He has never bought flowers for anyone before, how would he know the type of flowers she would like?

The florist smiles at him knowing very well that he's confused on the type of flower to pick. "Are you getting it for your girlfriend?" She asks him with a smile on her face.

William stares at her. His girlfriend? Even him dosen't know what their relationship is.

He nods, "Um...Yes." He answers curtly.

'I could have just asked George to come with me. This is so hard.' He says inwardly as he sighs.

"Well...Um, if you may permit me to ask, why are you getting her flowers? Is it just for..."

He cuts her off, "It's to make up with her."

She nods, "Well then, you can get her fresh rose, lilies or orchids." She says as she goes over to bring out a bouquet of white orchids.

She hands the bouquet to him. "Give her these. She will love them and they portrays your sincerity."

William stares at the flowers in her hands before taking it. "They will do, right?" He asks.

She nods confidently. "It depends on your girlfriend but the flower simbolizes well."

William nods and then his phone starts ringing. He dips his hand into his pocket to bring out his phone and after glancing at the caller, he turns out to look through the glass door of the shop to his assistant who is standing by the car. He signals for him to come into the shop with his index finger.

His assistant rushes into the shop and stands in front of him. "Yes boss."

"Bring the flowers and take care of the bills."

He gives the flowers to the florist before walking out of the shop.

Meanwhile, Kemi sits at the balcony with Patricia reading out a book for her and just then, a young guy walks to her carrying a bouquet in his hands. She turns to him with a confused expression on her face. She stares at him trying to recall where she had seen him because he looked familiar.

"Hello. This is for you." He says to her as he gives the bouquet to her.

She stares at the flowers with a more confused expression. "For me?" She asks in disbelief.

The guy nods.

She slowly collects the flowers from him and stares at it. Just before she could ask him who they are from, the guy has already left.

She looks at the flowers before bringing them to her nose to smell them.

"Aw, so pretty. They smell really nice." She says before searching through the flowers to see if there's any card or anything she can use to know the sender but there is nothing.

Then, she recalled where she has seen the guy who brought the flowers. It was at William's Mansion. The guy is one of William's men.

She sighs staring at the flowers not knowing what to do with it. She knows he must be trying to apologize but she didn't see the need for him to send flowers. She didn't want to throw them away but...

"You should throw it away if you don't like seeing them."

She turns to Patricia who has said that.

"I should?"

Patricia nods, "Flowers are not meant to solve everything."

Kemi looks to the ground before looking back at the flowers.

"Are those from your boyfriend?"

Kemi's eyes grow wide at the question.

"My... My boyfriend? Noo.They're um... they are from a friend."

"Why did he send you flowers?"

Kemi shrugs, "Um...I guess to apologize?"

"He should do it personally, not by sending flowers. He should make up for his own mistake and not cover it up with flowers."

Patricia says in a serious tone. Kemi looks at her before looking back at the bouquet.

"They're pretty though." She mutters as she stares at the beautiful flowers with admiration.

Patricia frowns at her, "You shouldn't forgive him yet my dear. You should let him earn it, not just by sending flowers."

Kemi thinks about what Patricia said and sighs. She felt the nice and beautiful flowers should not just go to waste but then, Patricia's glare says otherwise.

She quickly take the flowers and throws it into the trash can.

Patricia smiles at her. "You have done well."

Kemi smiles and chuckles. "Yes ma, I'm willing to learn from you any time."

Patricia nods, "Of course."

Kemi stands close to her as she places her hands on her shoulders.

*********

Kenny returns to William who is sitting on a sofa in the hearth room holding a glass of wine in his hand.

"Have you given it to her?" He asks.

Kenny nods, "I have given it to her consigliere but she threw it in the trash can."

William's eyes grows wide as he turns to him. "She...She threw the flowers away?"

"Yes boss. The card has fallen off so I returned to give it to her only to see her dumping the flowers."

William blinks in confusion before heaving a sigh. "But.." He trails off and just signals for him to leave. Kenny nods and walk away.

'Is it because she doesn't know I'm the one? I'm sure that's the reason.' He says in thought as he relaxes into the chair.

He decided he should go and see her himself.

5pm

Kemi walks downstairs trying to pack her hair to the back as it keeps touching her shoulders. Her eyes grow wide when she sees William standing beside the rail staring up at her with his hands in his pockets.

She stares at him without saying anything as she climbs down to where he stands feigning a smile.

He stares at her trying to read her expression but it seems as if she's forcing a smile and avoiding eye contact with him.

"Hey, how are you?" He asks trying to look at her. She keeps looking behind him, her eyes focusing at the entrance.

"I'm fine." She replies in a low voice still looking pass him.

He swallows as he keeps looking at her feeling an urge to hold her but seeing how expression is, he just sighs.

"You didn't accept any of my gifts. Are you still mad at me?" He asks as he moves closer to her but she moves backwards.

"I'm not." She says plainly twitching her lips slightly.

"It seems like you are." He says before reaching for her hands. He entwines his fingers with hers before moving her chin causing her to face him.

She stares into his eyes gaping at him as if she wants to say something but then she moves her eyes to the side, avoiding his eye contact. He tries to look at her but she keeps moving her face away. He sighs as he stares at the corner of her face.

"Say something Kemi, hmm?" He whispers close to her ear. She shivers at the feeling of his warm breath so close to her. His mouth begins to trace her jaw, then he slowly drags his tongue down her neck and ear. Just as he starts moving his hands slowly up to her waist, she abruptly moves away from him.

She gulps as she lets out a shaking breath while looking at her hands. He feels his chest clenches at her reluctance and he stares at her not knowing what else to say or do. He moves close to her again but she steps backwards.

"You said you're not angry, Kemi." He says as he stares at her.

"I'm not." She says plainly as she rubs herhand over her arms.

William sighs and then, he grabs her wrist before pulling her behind him.

"Stop! Where... Where are you taking me?" She protests as she tries to pull her hand away but his grip is too strong.

"Just come with me." He says as he continues to pull her towards the entrance.

"I said I'm not angry, let me go!" She says out loud as she continues dragging her hands off but he didn't let her go. He continues to drag her along until they're out of the house. They stand in front of his car inside the compound and that's when he lets go of her hand.

She frowns at him. "Why did you drag me out?"

William opens his mouth to say something but he didn't and instead, runs his hands over his face.

"What should I do? Just..." He sighs as he licks his bottom lips. "Tell me, hmm?"

She looks away from him as she holds her wrist.

"You don't have to do anything. Just..." She sighs. "I'm not angry at you."

"Then look at me." He stresses the last word desperately . "You have been avoiding eye contact with me." He says in a calm voice as he searches for her face but she still wouldn't look at him.

"I just...I just don't want to get attached..." She gulps. "I thought.." She trails off as she bites her bottom lip.

"Come with me, please?"

Kemi looks at him before she stares at the car.

"Where are we going?" She asks looking back at him.

He opens the car, "Come on."

She shakes her head, "I don't want to..." Before she could finish what she's about to say, William pulls her into the car and slides in with her before he starts moving out of the compound.

"Where are we going?" Kemi asks again as soon as they hits the road.

"Somewhere quiet, so we can talk."

Kemi didn't say anything but simply looks out through the tinted glass of the car while William stares at her. He has never been so nervous in his life compared to the how nervous he is right now. What should he say to her?

Throughout the ride, they didn't say anything to each other. They arrive at a quiet beach, where the soothing sound of birds chirping and the water clashing is being heard.

They both step out of the car before William turns around to meet Kemi who is gaping at the place. He walks closer to her and gently take her hands.

"Come." He leads her over to the water before pulling her to sit beside him on the sand.

She keeps moving her hair from her face as her hair keeps covering her face due to the wind while she tries to stare at the waves of the water.

William turns to her. "I'm sorry I hurt your feelings."He finally says in a calm voice as he tucks the strand of hair on her face behind her ear. "It won't happen again."

She turns at him and could feel the sincerity in his voice. She stares at him without saying anything.

"I like you...I really like you." He says as he caresses her cheek. She stares at him with wide eyes surprised by his sudden confession. She couldn't believe what he just said, he likes her? "And I want to get to know you better, hmm?"

She swallows biting her lower lips and then she nods." It's fine."

A wide smile appears on his face, "We're good now, right?"

She nods shyly as she looks down at her fingers. He continues to stroke her face gently. "How do feel working as my mother's caretaker?...Do you...Do you like, feel any pressure?"

She moves up her eyeballs to look at him.

"I don't feel any pressure. I actually like her, she's very nice and.." She smiles lightly. "-And funny too."

William smiles as he arches his brows as if taken by surprise.

"She is?"

Kemi nods, "Yes. She was actually the one who told me to dump those flowers you sent."

William gapes in disbelief, "What?"

Kemi chuckles, "I swear she would have been very mad if I hadn't."

William chuckles as he moves his hand away from her face to sit properly beside her.

"I didn't know my mom was funny." He says with a smile.

Kemi smiles, "You should spend time with her. She's actually a fun person." She says with excitement.

William turns to her with a smile on his face. "It seems you like her."

"I do like her."

William sighs and looks to the direction of the water.

"You have been through a lot here. I'm sorry for everything you have been through and I promise I'll take it up to you.." He looks at the sand before taking up a small portion with in his hands. "I will take good care of you now." He says turning to her.

Her lips slowly curves into a wide smile as she stares at him. "It's fine. I will take it as part of my life experiences."

"Your father was the one who caused everything but you still chose to pay the price..." He sighs as he smiles lightly. "Do you love him that much?"

Kemi smiles lightly before heaving a sigh. "He's my father after all, I can't let him die. I just hope he's at least, regretful about what he did." She entwines her fingers together as she stares at the water. "My father used to be very hard working. He used to supported my mom in raising money for the family." She sighs."But then, he changed and started drinking, gambling and...and all that."

He looks at her,"Why? Was it an habit?"

She shrugs,"He used to be like that before my mother married him but then, he stopped. I guess some habits don't just go away." She sighs as she traces her fingers on the sand.

"I wouldn't do that for my father." He says as he plays with the sand in his hands.

She turns to him. "Why?"

He shrugs, "I hate him. You do that for people you love."

Kemi nods. She recalls when he had told her his father treats his brother better than he treats him. She can imagine how frustrating and sad that would be.

"You see..."He starts tosay as he takes up another portion of sand in his hand. "-My family isn't like yours. We have so many problems but..." He twitches his lips before turning to her. "-We use our fake smiling faces and wealth to cover it up."

Kemi stares at him as he speaks.

"My father had married my mother first and that's when they had me. I was very young when my father brought in Lexis's mom who was pregnant with Lexis then..." He swallows hard before he continues. "-My mom got jealous because all my father's attention were diverted to Lexis's mom. He didn't look at her anymore nor even me.." He looks at her for a moment before continuing. "I guess I would say l got..um...pretty jealous that I have to share my father's love with Lexis-not that I ever had it anyway-" he shrugs as he stares at her. "Or maybe, very jealous to the point where I hated him.He was quite cute when he was still little though but I... I always pushed him away.Call me...Call me greedy or anything but..." He trails off as he clenches his fist looking away from her.

He sighs before he continues, "-I have always tried to impress my father. I tried to make myself worthy of him but...He still saw me as nothing but a worthless son.Well, I don't care anymore. I don't need him to be impressed or love me. I'm okay." He nods as he swallows hard.

She slowly takes his hand in her own and caresses them gently as she smiles at him. "You're right. You don't need to prove yourself to anyone. Just do you and they'll regret ever leaving. You're not worthless."

He smiles as he looks down at her hands and entwines his fingers with hers while she stares him.She could imagine how hard it must have been for him. It must have been hard to strive for the love you are suppose to be entitled for.

Her eyes travel to his face and she moves her hand to trace his jawline then slowly up to his cute aquiline nose. She stares at his dark lashes and his chocolate eyes before she smiles. She had thought handsome mafia men are only found in novels and movies but everyone is this place has proved her wrong. He has proved her wrong. It warms up her heart that he cared to make her feel better. He just told her that he likes her, something she never expected to hear from him. Then, surprising herself, she moves her lips to his cheek and kisses him gently.

His eyes grow wide in surprise as he stares at her.

She starts to move her hands away from his face but he grabs it staring into her eyes.

He smiles, "I like your eyes.." William starts to say as she keep staring at him. "They are beautiful."

She smiles shyly looks away. He smiles seeing her blush before he slowly tilts her head back to face him. Then he moves his lips close to hers and pauses, staring into her eyes, as if waiting for her to retreat.

When she didn't, he reaches for her face and kisses her soft lips before moving his hands to her waist pulling her closer. He moves his lips against hers sucking on her lower lips while his hands caresses the back of her hair. Her hands slowly moves up to his neck wrapping them around him as she kisses him back.

She sighs into his mouth and he slides his tongue into her mouth while his hands moves down to her ass lifting her up and slowly guiding her to sit on his thighs. She wraps her legs around his waist as she sits on his thighs while caressing his hair.

He slowly moves his hands under her dress moving it up as he kisses her neck. She bit her lower lips and tilts her neck allowing him more access. He work his lips up to her ear nibbing on them. She arches her back at every movement his hands make on her back breathing heavily. Then he plants soft kisses on her cheek before pulling away.

She stares at him as he caresses her face gently before pulling her into his embrace. She rests her head against his chest wrapping her hands around his waist and shuts her eyes.
