Chapter 13: Chapter 13
~Akeyla’s POV~
“Brenda, did you actually call me all the way from my house because you were having cramps?” I asked this friend of mine in disbelief.
She looked at me with puppy eyes as she clutched to her stomach. “I feel like dying Keyla, I didn’t know who to call.”
I sighed and placed my hand on my waist. Oh Christ!
“Is this your first time of seeing your period, Brenda?” I asked with a frown. I wasn’t annoyed because she had called me over. I was annoyed because she made me so worried that I had almost had a heart attack thinking she was deeply hurt.
“But I’m really hurting Keyla…” She whined as if reading my mind. “I tried to call my assistant to get me tampons but her line was not going through. My manager is on her way to come and get me for my next shoot and I also tried to reach her but her line was turned off. I could only think of you my dearest friend.” She pouted her lips.
I sighed. “Why didn’t you tell me to get it for you on my way?”
“I um… my phone went off while I was talking to you.”
“You have constant power supply Brenda.”
“I couldn’t stand up to go and charge it.” She whined as she clutched her stomach harder.
“I am sorry Keyla baby, I will set you up with a hot dude in return, okay?”
I shook my head at her and sighed. “Let me go and get it but you could have ordered it online you know.”
“That would take forever to get here.” Brenda said as she shut her eyes.
“Let me get you pad first from the nearest shop, drink warm water first, okay?”
She nodded before she slowly reached for the glass of warm water, I had already brought for her to drink.
I quickly started walking out of the house in a rush. I went over to the first shop that was close by but they were closed. I went over to another store that was quite far from the previous one but they didn’t have any for sale.
“Oh goodness, I will have to go to the supermarket.”
I stood at the side of the street to stop a motorcycle and after some seconds, I saw one coming so I stopped it and entered before the rider started rode off. I arrived at the supermarket shortly and quickly went inside to buy it. After buying it, I came outside the building and stood by the roadside. It would be hard to see a motorcycle on this side so I would have to cross over to the other side. Just as I stood there and was about to cross, a car pulled over in front of me and I moved backwards wondering who it was or maybe it wasn’t for me? I was about to walk away when someone called out which made me halt.
I turned around and my eyes landed on a tall figure who stood beside the car. There was no way I could forget that face. That rude prude! What does he want? Was he here to collect his money back?
“So, it was you?” I heard him ask as he stared at me with a surprised look. What was he talking about? It was me what?
“Excuse me?”
He walked closer to me with his hands in pockets. “I asked you if we have met before and you denied it. Were you ashamed that you collected money from me?”
What on earth was this guy talking about?
“I don’t understand what you are talking about.”
He scoffed, “Are you being serious right now?” He moved his eyes from my head to toe and furrowed his brows. “Funny how the world works. Who knew you would end up being my fake fiancée?
Ah! What was this one saying? Was he okay? Was he mistaking me for someone else or what? No, he wasn’t because he just said that he had given me money which was true but which fiancée was he talking about?
“Um… I don’t have time to talk nonsense with you. If you want your money back, just let me know.”
“No keep it…” He shrugged. “After all, we would be getting married soon.”
I couldn’t help but laugh and his expression turned to a confused one. “Wait… what are you even saying? Married to who? Me? Do you even know what you are talking about?”
He opened his mouth to say something but paused to take a good look at me, as if making sure he was not mistaking.
“What game are you playing Elsa?” He asked me. Elsa? Who on earth is Elsa now? This guy must have lost it.
“You can give me your details so I will send your money back to you is that’s what you want.”
He scratched his forehead, “Oh, so you are going to play this card?”
I sighed. This was getting tiring, I have to go to Brenda as soon as possible, it was a waste of time talking with him.
“Give me your details when next we meet, I have to go!” I said to him before I turned around to cross the road. I have wasted too much time talking to him when Brenda was waiting for me at the home. What in the world was he talking about? Could it be that he is mentally ill? That would be a shame, such a handsome guy.
After a short time, I arrived at Brenda’s house and quickly ran inside to meet her. She was now covering herself with a blanket and buried her head between her legs.
“Brenda, are you okay?” I rushed over to her side.
She slowly turned to me. “I feel very sick.” She said in a low voice.
I bit my lower lips hard before moving over to sit beside her. “Will you be able to wear this first?” I asked her. “There is a pharmacy beside here, will go there and get you drugs.”
She nodded slowly, “I can manage.”
“You should tell your manager to reschedule your shoot, you cannot go like this.”
She sighed and nodded. “Her line is still switched off; she would go back when she comes.” Brenda stood up and slowly walked out to go and put it on while I walked out of the house to go and buy her drugs.
When I came back, I met her drinking warm water still covered in a blanket.
“Here, the pharmacist said you should take two of each.” I handed over the drug to her. She took the drug from me and stared at it.
She frowned, “I’m taking two of these drugs?”
I smiled. Of course, she hates drugs. I could recall when we were in middle school then. She had gotten sick with a fever but she refused to take any drugs and even agreed to take injections instead.
“Just manage and take so you will get better, okay?” I patted her back
She pouted and sighed before she reluctantly opened the tablets. She swallowed the drugs with the warm water before she placed the glass on the table.
She turned to me and smiled. “Thank you, Keyla. What would I do without you?”
I smiled at her before I sat beside her and held her hand. “Don’t scare me like that again Brenda, I was really worried.”
Brenda smiled sheepishly, “Aw, I swear I would marry you if you were a guy.”
I smiled and ruffled her hair. “I will always be here when you need me okay?”
Brenda nodded and rested her head on my thighs. “But you took long, you went far?” She asked me.
“Yes. I couldn’t find it here so I went to get it from a supermarket.”
“Aw my Keyla baby, I have stressed you too much.”
I smiled, “It’s no big deal. Yes, before I forget, I met that guy again today.”
Brenda raised her head to look at my face. “Seriously? He asked you for his money back? Is he blackmailing you?”
Blackmailing keh, Oh Brenda.
“No, he is not but he was just saying things I do not understand. It was as if… it was as if he has lost a few nuts or something.”
Brenda chuckled, “Keyla, ah! What makes you say that, what did he say?”
“He was I should keep the money since we are already married…”
“Ah!” Brenda sprung up from my thigh. “Married keh? Since when? Or was he just teasing you?”
I shook my head, “No, that guy was dead serious. He was even looking at me like I was lying and he called me Elsa.”
“Elsa keh, Elsa from frozen or what?”
I chuckled and shook my head, “I don’t know o, it was just so strange.”
“Did you tell him your name then?”
“I asked for his details so I could send him back his money but he was talking gibberish and I had to leave to meet you so I rushed off.” I explained.
Brenda sighed, “Hmm, but that is strange. I’m sure he must have mistaken you to be his wife to be.”
“Mistaking me to be his wife to be? Is he drunk or what?”
Brenda shrugged, “Like you said, he must have lost a nut or two.”
I chuckled and shook my head.
XOXO
