Chapter 74: Chapter 74

Connie froze suddenly her hand falling to her side as she turned her head so she was looking upside down.

She saw Ashley's face and she gasped. She immediately pushed herself up and tried to arrange her uniform.

"It's a misunderstanding. It isn't what it looks like." She rushed out all while trying to button up her shirt.

"It's not what it looks like?" Ashley repeated blinking away the tears that was trying to reach her eyes.

Connie nodded her head rapidly.

"So tell me, Cornelia... What does it look it like then? You're practically just arranging your freaking shirt!"

Connie opened her mouth and then closed it a few times before she looked to the ground suddenly. She had nothing to say. It was pretty obvious what was going on.

"Cause to me, it's pretty much obvious what's going on here. And you can't say it's not, cause my glasses is on." Ashley spat.

The girl whose head was bowed looked up from the floor before she shook her head and her hand having found something to say.

"He's just a fling. I swear, that's all. Just a fling. We're not serious or anything!"

"A fling." Ashley repeated with a low chuckle. Since when did they start having flings? That thought lingered in her mind until the guy in question spoke.

"A fling? Dude, I asked you to be my girlfriend yesterday and you agreed! I'm a fling? What the fuck?!"

"Oh! She's your girlfriend? Wow. I guess congratulations are in order then. Big congratulations to both of you. A very huge one." Ashley greeted clapping her hands.

"Have a nice life... Or maybe not." She grinned and then turned around to walk away the tears that she had been pushing down, rushing down her face.

She walked slowly with the hope that Connie would come after her, then maybe... Just maybe she would accept her apology.

Who would she choose? Her or him?

After a few steps, she turned around to see Connie arguing with the jock– More like him yelling and accusing her pointing his index finger at her.

"–fuck? You were double dating us? Hold on, you're gay? When did you plan on telling me this?"

Connie didn't reply as she kept her gaze on the grass like someone had told her if she studied closely, she would find a piece of solid gold.

"What? You can't talk now? Cat got your tongue? You cheated on Ashley! Who knows when you're going to cheat on me again and I'll find you having sex with a girl?!"

Still no response.

"You know what? Fuck this. We're done. Like over. Fuck you."

With a bitter laugh, she cleaned her tears away harshly while we watched the guy push Connie away angrily before he picked his bag up and stormed away angrily passing by her.

She had expected him to spare her a disgusted look but she was surprised when he spared her an apologetic look that she immediately registered before he fully passed by her.

She watched him go before she turned her neck back go Connie that was presently kicking the low grass, pulling at her hair with both hands in frustration for having lost on both sides.

Why did she even think of coming to the Field?! Why couldn't they have made out somewhere else?

Ashley sighed at her desperate and desolated figure before she let out another bitter laugh storming away as well.

"So, Connie is Bi?" Navaeh asked and Ashley blinked before she nodded her head slowly.

"I guess so. I mean, you could say that." She said finally with a shrug.

"Who was it?" A voice asked in a low and dangerous tone. All eyes snapped to Zaire who Zaire who looked furious.

"What?" Ashley questioned back in confusion. Who was who?

"The guy. What was his name? Did you see his name?"

"Why? So you'll go and beat him up for Connie making out with him?"

"Just answer me, dammit! Who was it?"

"I don't know his name! And no, I would not show you his face, so don't even think of asking me."

"And why won't you show me his face? He's on the basketball team isn't he?"

"So? It's not his freaking fault! Don't you get it?! Connie was the one that went to meet him or either way it was! It takes two to fucking cheat! Connie was the one that cheated on me! Dammit! Why are you making a fucking mole out of an anthill?!"

"Oh, I'll see Connie as well."

"Don't you dare."

"Oh I will... Try me."

"Just stop! Alright, fucking stop it! Jeez, stop being all Alpha and Possessive shit on me! I'm a big girl and I can take care of myself just fine!"

Ashley was now heaving with her eyes glued to her brother's while they glared at each other.

If glaring was a exam, both passed in flying colors! The tension in the room was thick and in a pin drop silence, the twins heavy breaths being the only thing that could be heard.

"And that being said..." Navaeh cut in making all eyes in the room snap to her.

"Woah! You're glaring at me as well. Well, I don't mean to break up whatever it is you're having over there, but you guys should return to your room... It's way past curfew. Like way way past curfew."

Zaire blinked at her while Ashley did the same and Quinnel had a small smile on his face.

"Okay then. Come on, Zaire... Let's go to our room." Quinnel supported wrapping his arm around Zaire's biceps.

Zaire snatched his arm from him throwing another glare to Ashley before he got up on his feet and walked to the door.

Ashley looked to Navaeh to see her shake her head indicating for her to say nothing. Then both friends pursed their lips looking at Zaire who was marching to the door.

Instead of asking for help from the room owners, he frowned and punched in Ashley's birthday which was also his own.

An automated voice spoke up immediately.

"Pincode incorrect."

He sighed and turned to Quinnel.

"When is Navaeh's birthday?"

"Uhh, June 8?"

He turned around and pinched in 0806.

"Incorrect. You have three more trials. If you still get it incorrect, the door will be on a shutdown mode for 24 hours and can only be open from outside."

"What kind of stupidity is this?" Zaire questioned.

"What the fuck? Do not press anything, Zaire." Ashley yelled after her brother when she saw him raise his hand to press another code.

Zaire paused thankfully turning his head to Ashley.

"I'll get that for you. Just don't touch anything." She mumbled getting off the chair she had been sitting on.

She reached the lock in no time easily slipping into the space between the lock and Zaire.

She moved her hand up and the lock lighted on the screen when it sensed a gesture over it's screen.

She then paused turning her head to Zaire who was staring at the screen where the illuminated blue light pad of numbers were.

"Well then, step back or turn your eyes to Neve or something."

"Why should he?"

"Why should I?"

Zaire turned to Quinnel blinking at him. Ashley shrugged and immediately pressed the long code. Both girls couldn't decide on the code go use when they first got to the room and so they mixed their birthdays together.

So Zaire was right with both numbers he had input but he just had to press the numbers after each other.

"Door Unlocked."

Both heads snapped to it and Zaire's mouth dropped open.

"Dude, you made me miss the whole thing!"

"Stop saying it like it's a movie, you pervert!" Quinnel yelled back at him and Zaire rolled his eyes before they stepped towards the door.

"Move away then."

"Make me." Ashley replied with a smirk.

"Oh, you wanna play now?" Zaire replied with a smirk.

"Huh... It's my room."

"Rented room. Just for a few days. Don't get all so happy and attached."

"You know, I think I would get one of these locks on my door at home. Then you wouldn't barge into my room anytime you want." Ashely said remembering the time he barged into her room when she had her first period. She didn't know what to do and now her twin brother was yelling like she was going to die.

She blushed at that memory. Zaire helped her out really much that day. Their parents weren't home. He had to go online and look for stuffs to do.

He even made ginger tea for her. He shared with her a lot of chocolate that he had been keeping with him for a long time with the promise of not giving Ashley any out of it.

He then read her a story till she fell asleep. He was really sweet that day. Now, he knows her cycle even more than her herself.

"Potato. Po tah to." Zaire replied with an eye roll.

"Well, out you go now. It's past 1in the midnight."

"1:30." Navaeh corrected as if to let them know she was still there.

"It's morning, you dummy."

"So when is midnight then, genius?"

"Obviously, from the name midnight means middle of the night... By 12AM."

"You said am. AM is used for morning."

"So?"

"So, midnight is the same as morning, fool."

"No, you– are not wrong. Morning is midnight?"

"You'll be fine, my dummy. See you." Ashley said yanking the door open and she pushed her dazed brother out of the room.

Quinnel followed after and waved at them.

"How did you get that?"

"I have a brain that works you know? And it's common sense."

Zaire rolled his eyes at his sister. Who said she didn't have a brain now?

"Keep rolling those eyes, maybe you'll find your brain back there." Ashley said with a wink and a grin and before Zaire could retort, she had slammed the door close.

"Oh My God! I've always wanted to do that to him! Feels so good and right to do it now!" She mumbled to herself with a chuckle.

"Is that normal? Whatever!"

NAVAEH'S POV

The moment we stepped inside, I could hear the faint sound of "You should see me in a crown by Billie Eilish."

The whole place smelt like coffee beans which totally made sense cause it seemed like this people grinded the beans every minute.

We made our way to a counter and the girl that was standing there smiled at us.

"Welcome to Kitty's Cafe. What would you like to have today?" She asked beaming with smiles. The smile looks practiced though.

I mean, why not? She has to smile every day.

She was dressed in a blue t- shirt that had the logo and name of the cafe sewn on the left top corner of the shirt meant to stay right above her bosom.

Her t- shirt reminded me of my work. I wonder how Koa is doing anyways. Maybe I'll give him a call when we get back to the hotel in the evening.

"What do you guys have?" Ashley grinned and I shook my head slightly at my caffeine high best friend. She hadn't even had coffee!

I looked around while the girl listed off the whole coffee flavor they had on the menu like she was explaining the address of her home as well as how to get there.

My eyes roamed over the pot of green plants that were hung up right beside the transparent floor to ceiling window. Everyone that was passing could see what was going on inside and I thought it was adorable. It made so much sense.

You don't have to look at the sign post to know what's going on here if you were, by chance, not coming from the direction of the museum.

The floor to ceiling window covered most of the sides and the pot of plants were hung beside each of them except where the counter was. Beside the windows, there were white tables with three black chairs surrounding it with the floor to ceiling windows being the fourth side instead of a chair.

Below it was a couple that were taking pictures while sharing coffee. They rested their phone on the window and took pictures beside each other since they had adjusted the seats so they would sit beside each other. I looked away from them to other parts of the cafe.

There were white table in the middle of the room that had a jar filled half full with water and then different flowers were placed in them. Lilies, Roses, Tulips, Sunflowers, Orchids, Iris... And then four chairs was surrounding the table since there was no restriction on one side.

There was a girl beside the floor to ceiling window adjacent where I was facing. She had a pink earphone on her head while she worked on her book taking a sip of the iced Americano in front of her seldomly.

What enticed me the most was the fact that she had red hair. She twirled her pencil a few times before finally writing a word or two down.

She looked really hot doing it with her pink lips looking small and pouty and how she moistened it every second after taking a sip of the drink.

She wore a white woolen cardigan with a short skirt that hid under the cardigan. Her hair complimented her white cardigan and her grey skirt was only visible because of the edge of the fabric that peeked from the black chair.

In front of her was an open purse that contained stationeries. So I made a rough guess... She must be a student. A college one at most.

I guess feeling someone's eyes on her, she turned her head to me and I immediately diverted my eyes to the pot flower plant that was hanging above her head.

If you looked closely, you would notice the drawings on the pots. The one I was looking at presently was the drawing of a dragon with a red pearl in it's mouth. It was really cute and a fine design.

I was about to look away when I noticed the girl was now looking directly at me with her lips slightly parted.

Once our eyes met, she looked away shyly and her pencil stood on her note even though she was not writing anything. I knew cause the pencil didn't move.

Then she moved her obsidian eyes back up and caught me staring. But now, she didn't look away... We held eye contacts before I raised my hand to give her a simple wave.

She replied the wave with one of hers. She even added a small smile. Now, I wished I had chosen that hoodie. At least now I would just stick my hand into the pockets.

"Neve?"

I blinked and turned to Ashley.

"Yeah?"

"Are you okay? You spaced out there. Been calling you for a while now." She asked with a worried face.

"Uhh, yeah. I'm fine. I was looking at something. What's up?"

"What drink do you want?"

I sighed and looked up at the menu before I decided on a "Strawberry Milkshake please. With Strawberries in it."

"Alright, A Chocolate smoothie and Strawberry Milkshake with strawberries coming right up. You can have your seats. I'll call on you when your order is ready."

The girl said her practiced smile never leaving her face once that I wonder if her mouth didn't ache from smiling each and every hour all while talking!

Well, I guess it's her job.

"Thank you." I greeted and she grinned at me. A genuine one. Huh, I guess some people like Blacks nonetheless.

"Come on." Ashley said walking to the one the empty tables at the ceiling to floor window. It was directly in front of the girl that was now doing her– Whatever it is she was doing. She was doing it for reals now cause her pen was dancing.

Once we took a seat, Ashley's eyes roamed the cafe with a smile. Ashley was backing the girl while I was kinda opposite to her. I mean, if I looked over Ashley's shoulder, I would see her small and cute face.

"The interior is so cute." She said her eyes glued to the blue walls.

"I know right? It's what I've been looking at."

"Huh. This is inspiring me to open my own cafe and make it have a cute interior just like this one." She said thoughtfully and my eyes widened.

"You should totally do it! That's a good dream! I mean, if it were me that had that kind of dream, I would definitely pursue it! Imagine, having a cafe chain store! You would have so much money! So much fame! So much... Branches. God, that would be so dope." I ranted.

"Sounds like you had this dream before I even dreamt of it." Ashley said suddenly making me blink befire I shook my head ignoring her eyes that was curved into crescents shapes.

"What! Why? Of course not." I replied shaking my head as I placed my purse on the white table. Both the bag and the table seemed to be competing which one was whiter.

"Your eyes are twinkling." She said pointing at me.

I looked away from the two white material to her face.

"Probably cause this two white things are about to kill me. I mean look at em. Which one do you think is more white?" I asked pointing at the table.

She rolled her eyes but looked down anyways. Her eyes moved to the bag and table a few times before pointing at something.

I looked down at what she was pointing at to see she was pointing at the middle of the two things.

"The table?" I asked confused.

"Both are white. Really white. It's hard to tell which one is more white." She replied with a shrug and looked at the rose flowers in front of us.

"I'll take a picture and post it on my Instagram story." Ashley said suddenly and pulled out her phone to take a funny picture.

She then brought her phone down and started typing in words. I shrugged and looked around. Again. You never get tired! I tell you.

A bell chimed and Ashley looked up to see whoever it was while I was looking for my phone to take a picture and post on my Instagram story.

"Oh God." She mumbled under her breath and I looked up at her face.

"What's up?" I asked.

"That is up." She replied nudging her chin towards where she was looking.

I turned my head to see Quinnel, Zaire and Jake were standing their eyes roaming the cafe.

The three of them were tall and standing beside each other, I had a had time telling which one was taller.

I think Jake is taller than Zaire or than Quinnel.

"Oh God." Flew out of my mouth when Quinnel's eyes met with mine and the side of lips turned up a bit into a smirk. Like he, being a predator, caught a prey for the first time since ages ago!

"Hey, Ash?" I called.

"Yeah?" She answered.

"How did they even know we're here?" I asked turning my head to her to see her shrug.

"Oh fuck mei." I said with an accent when I noticed everyone's eyes on them.

Even the guys!

My eyes flew to the girl with pink hair to see her jaw was on the floor the pencil that she was using to write was now on the floor.

I turned my head all around the cafe. Even the couples that were taking a picture before were now looking at the three guys that just stepped inside.

The girl at the counter was not smiling anymore. Instead, her jaws were on the counter with her eyes wide.

I get it. They're hot. But still your jaws are practically cleaning the floor. Pick them up!

"It's like they know they attract attention and flaunt it. Stupid inflated ego!" Ashley grumbled angrily and I rolled my eyes turning to her fully.

"I know right? I just hope they don't come here and sit with us cause if they do–"

"Too late." She said cutting me off.

"What?" I asked in confusion and my confusion was cleared when a second– no, a millisecond later I heard,

"Hey ladies." Zaire greeted with a grin while Jake's eyes looked over the room and Quinnel's eyes was glued on my bag.

"Do you mind not saying that like we're call girls?" I said feeling somehow.

Everyone had gone on about their own issues. Everyone that had dropped their jaws seemed to have regained their senses while everyone that dropped something had picked it up.

But seriously, haven't they seen a guy before?!

"I didn't say it like you were call girls." Zaire replied.

I could see confusion on his face. I snorted and looked away.

"That's so unladylike." He mumbled and I stuck out my tongue at him. He turned his nose up and stuck his tongue out at me while doing gooey eyes.

"You guys have to go the counter to order what you want and go find a table." Ashley said and all eyes looked to her while mine was looking at the guy's faces for their reaction.

Both sported confusion. Jake eyes was still looking around and his mind was not in any way with us.

But I could totally relate. This place is too fine to not spare it a second glance.

"Why look for a table when there is one right here?" Quinnel spoke for the first time and I gave him a double look.

He was sporting a simple black plain round neck and white trouser. On his leg was a red sneakers.

I subconsciously looked at my leg wishing it was the same color and alas! It was.

I smiled a little before clearing my throat and looked up at the boys.

"You guys can't seat here. The whole cafe's eyes is on you. I don't want attention."

"Well, our fate is linked and you know it as well. So since the day I came to this world and you followed after me, attention has been glued to you baby sister." Zaire replied rubbing her hair with a pout.

"Stop rubbing my head like a child. And I'm not your baby sister." She replied sternly.

"You are and you know it." Zaire replied with a wink.

He was dressed in a black button down shirt with dark blue trousers underneath it and sandals. If you ask me, he looks like a college student.

Jake was dressed in a white underwear with an opened black shirt over it. He was wearing a brown colored trouser with black Sandals as well.

Only myself and Quinnel were the ones wearing sneakers. Even Ash was wearing Sandals!

The next thing I saw, Quinnel had added two chairs to the empty one and the three guys were sitting at the table.

I thought Jake was still engrossed in the view!
