Chapter 67: Chapter 67
"I'll see you by 7pm then," He greeted once I stepped out of the elevator unto my floor.
Their floor was above ours so he still had to stay in there for a few more seconds before he got off.
"Sure," I replied with a wave.
"Bye."
"Kay."
Before we could keep exchanging words, I had turned my back and made my way to the room before I realized his cardigan was still around my waist.
"Wait. What about your-!"
He was gone. The elevator had closed and it already arrived on the guy's floor. Guess I'll just return it during dinner.
I turned around walking to our room before I stopped. I pressed in the lock combination and an automatic voice, like it always had, said "Door Unlocked."
I turned the door and pulled it open before I stepped in taking off my sneakers in the process leaving me barefooted. The door closed after me and "Door Locked."
I sighed when I saw my bed and without any more hesitation, I ran and jumped on it with it bouncing me back harder than I expected. But I guess it's my fault for jumping into it with such force.
"Woah! Calm the fuck down woman. You'll break the spring of the bed," I heard the familiar voice of my roomie and best friend and I turned my face to the side to see Ashley in a towel with her hair packed in a bun with strands left here and there leaning on the doorframe of the bathroom's door. Her glasses wasn't on her face anymore and actually in all honesty, she looked hotter and more beautiful.
"Do you have a chopstick or a pencil?" I murmured asking her while eyeing the bun on her head.
My imagination was coming back to me. She caused it! If she didn't pack her hair into a bun now, it won't come back to me.
"Uhh, a chopstick- No. But a pencil- Yes. Why?" She asked.
"Ugh. Never mind. I think I'm going crazy," I replied with a low voice before I turned my face to the other side to see the sun already turning orange.
The sky surrounding the setting sun was now pinkish-orange red. You get what I mean? It was beautiful though. It was like one of the paintings I saw when I went on this art exhibition with my parents way when I was younger.
Except that one had trees and birds painted black like a silhouette drawing.
"You know, the view of the sky from our room is like the best?" I asked and I got no reply.
I turned my head to see she wasn't by the door again and so I sighed and turned my head back to the beautiful setting sun.
I lifted my hand and did a finger heart with the sun as the background. I closed the eye whose side was on the bed and looked at my finger through the one that was opened.
My finger had turned black and it looked like those silhouette pictures you see on the internet and I sat up suddenly. That's it! That's how they make those silhouette pictures!
Oh my Goodness! How didn't I think of this before?! Of course! The sun was always in those pictures or the reflection or the sky itself.
"Hey, Ash?" I called turning my head slightly and I waited a few seconds before her neck and head popped up. Her body was covered by the door but I still saw a fair share of her shoulder. And it was covered with lather from soap. Of course, she was having a bath! I mentally slapped my forehead for calling her out of the bathroom.
"Yeah?"
"Uhh, finish your shower reals quick. I've got to show you something," I said grinning and she nodded her head reluctantly before pulling her head back in and I sighed turning my head back to the balcony.
I stood up and for the first time since we got to this room, I pushed the door to the balcony open. The warm air hit me and I quickly drew in my breath inhaling the air before I released it with a smile and a sigh.
New York. Should I come to NYU? I mean my parents can totally afford it and they also offer early admissions in NYU and the environment is the most conducive for learning! And I know it's about 1000 miles away from home but whatever right? As long as I–
The twins.
Then I froze.
"Oh shit," I muttered and my hand moved to pinch my nose bridge.
"So what's up?" I heard behind me and I jerked in surprise before I turned my head followed by whole body to see Ashley dressed in a bathrobe.
Everyone could practically see my best friend in a bathrobe!
"Goodness! Wear a clothe first!" I yelled and she rolled her eyes before she turned around walking - No, Sashaying to the wardrobe.
I sighed and turned my head away.
"She's crazy," I whispered to the wind letting it flow away with the atmosphere breeze.
"Alright. I found a shirt," I heard and I turned my head to see her dressed in a sweatshirt and shorts.
"Look at the sky," I murmured and she looked away from me to the sky while coming to stand beside me.
"Woah! The view from up here is cray cray," She exclaimed.
"Cray cray? You could have just said crazy," I replied with a chuckle at her choice of words and she chuckled at me.
"I could but I don't. Myself and Connie call it cray cray instead of crazy. So I guess it kind of... stuck," She replied with a shrug and I didn't know what to say since the matter was pertaining to Connie.
"You don't have to feel weird," She said with another chuckle and I looked at her.
"We figured it out. We're going to put the past behind us and be simple friends."
"Just friends?"
"Platonic Friends. With a Capital P and a capital F," She replied and I nodded my head thoughtfully before I turned away.
"Oh right! Guess what I found out?" I asked and turned my head to her again.
I really pity my neck. I as it's owner, am not okay. I keep turning and then turning back. So indecisive!
"What did you find out?" She asked interested as an amused smile lit up her face.
"The fact that you might be an elevator god, the fact that you would look hot with a sword and those ancient times clothes of the Chinese..." Her face scrunched up in confusion and I realized I was saying nonsense.
"But most importantly, I found out how they take silhouette pictures!"
"Uhh, silhouette?" She asked and I nodded my head happily.
"You don't know how to take silhouette pictures?" She asked again in utter confusion and I frowned.
Turns out my discovery wasn't exactly a discovery.
"I do now," I replied and she chuckled resting her head on my shoulder.
"I always took silhouette pictures with Connie. They're still on my phone. Do you want to see it?" She asked moving her head and I nodded my head almost immediately.
"But one thing you helped me discover, I didn't know the sky was this beautiful by sunset! I mean, look at that pink, orange and red combination! It looks so pretty!"
"Hold on. Didn't you just say you took silhouette pictures all the time?" I asked pointing at her and she shook her head laughing lightly.
"I didn't say all the time. And yes, I did take silhouette pictures. Just with normal orange sun... Not with the sky tinted in beautiful shades! I mean look at that! It's so beautiful I'm jealous. But I guess it is to be expected! It's New York after all!"
"New York... It's actually a beautiful city," I said and she nodded her head leaning her head back on my shoulder.
"Should we take pictures?" She asked jumping as she moved her head away from my shoulder abruptly.
"Jeez, you and pictures!" I replied with a groan and she gasped her hand going to her chest dramatically.
Imagine her as an assassin with those clothes from earlier and she had just killed a person when the other one is lying to her that she killed the right one even though she already knew he was the wrong one.
Then she fakes her gasp like right now and– Shut the f- up Navaeh Thatcher!
"Are you listening?"
"Assassin," I muttered instead and she raised a brow at me.
"Sorry. I meant to say, what did you say? I wasn't listening," I replied with a shake of my head.
"I said taking pictures are the only way you can capture a moment, have it with you forever– that is if you hopefully don't lose your phone or you have it backed up in the cloud– but the biggest and most amazing thing about taking a picture is... You get to show off how beautiful you are!" She finished and I sighed scratching my head.
"I guess a few pictures won't hurt, then," I replied with a shrug and she nodded her head rapidly.
"Yeah! Your phone is with you right?" She asked and I nodded reaching for my shorts.
I pulled out my iPhone and she collected it before she returned it to me. I pressed in my passcode and she tapped on the camera icon raising up to the sky before she nodded her head bringing it down.
"Alright. What poses are we going to do?" She asked and I shrugged.
What? I don't know a single pose than to smile "cheese." and that's all! Your picture is ready.
"You're helpless," She said with a sigh and I nodded my head agreeing with her.
"Alright, get over here," She said pulling me towards her body with her hand wrapped around my wrist before she pushed me away from her lightly before I could even blink.
"Go take a shower. You can't have the same clothes in two different pictures while I'm dressed in different clothing in two different ones," She said with a scrunched nose.
"Two different pictures?" I asked and she nodded blinking at me.
I blinked back a few more times while she did the same before she chuckled.
"The ones we took this morning! Now go change out of those clothes, have a nice shower before the sun sets completely for today. If it does and I've not taken one single picture, I'm going to kill you and I'm not joking Neve," She threatened and I didn't need to be told twice as I ran into the room loosening the red cardigan wrapped around my waist with each steps.
I successfully loosed it as I threw it unto my bed and ran into the bathroom.
