Chapter 63: Chapter 63

"Alright, we're here." The coach and I didn't even bother looking up from my feet that I have been staring at for some minutes. Nah, forever.

Ever since my speech about minding your own business to Ashley, Jake and Zaire who looked bewildered by the way... I have been staring at my sneakers.

"Woah!" Ashley exclaimed and I looked at her to see her eyes fixed on something with her eyes twinkling in delight.

The sun was out high in the sky. So it was shining really harsh down on us and more so, we were in the afternoon already.

I looked from her sun kissed face to whatever she was looking at and to say I was amazed by it's beauty would be an understatement!

New York is beautiful!

"This is the Bryant Park. The grounds features monuments and garden, and "Le Carrousel," a popular carousel. A games area makes available chess boards, checkers, and backgammon boards for a small fee."

I look around the the Bryant Park. The sun that was behind us was only reaching half the green lawn that was in the middle of the park making it give off two colours- Grass Green, where the sun didn't touch and Light Green- where the sun was shining all it's glory on.

High Skyscraper building that had glass mostly on their body was on one side of the green finely cut lawn.

Surrounding the green lawn was a wide lane that had numerous chairs for people to sit. After the lane was fine flowers planted on each side. The chairs would be about 100 if not more.

I looked back to the field that enticed me the most and sighed. This place is the kind of place you don't even want to leave.

There were small shops that sold different things and snacks while there were people that were either talking casually or students doing something on their phone or laptops or perhaps in their notes.

Their eyes didn't roam us that curiously. They just looked up and then back down to continue their works.

Mind your own business.

I let out a dry laugh at the reminder and Ashley nudged me. I looked at her and she nudged her chin towards the stalls. I looked at the direction and I saw Quinnel smiling at the woman that was selling cotton candy.

Well, of course he's smiling. Mind your own fucking business. I looked away from them to Jake.

"Let's take pictures," I muttered pulling my phone out but he heard me.

"Sure... I'll take it for you," he said stretching his hand to collect the phone from me.

"Nah, the two of us together," I said with a smile and he raised his brow before he looked at the direction of where I knew he was looking at.

Quinnel again.

"Just please... Let's just take the pictures?" I asked and he looked at me before he nodded.

"Where should we take it?" He asked and I pointed at the green grass.

"Oh cute... I like that place as well," He said grinning and I smiled at him.

"Sorry, can you take a picture for us?" I asked a girl that was going out of the park.

"Sure," She replied cheerily with a nod and a smile.

I and Jake walked to the lawn and we made a few poses.

"Just one more," Jake muttered and the nice girl nodded her head with a smile.

Once we took the last picture, we walked back to her with a smile.

"Thank you," I greeted and she waved her hand.

"Happy to help. Sorry, are you guys dating?" She asked and I giggled.

"No... We're just friends," I said shaking my head and hand simultaneously and she nodded her head before handing me the phone.

"You look cute together by the way," She said with a wink and I shrugged.

"Thank you," Jake replied with a sheepish smile and I shook my head.

"Bye," She greeted and we waved back at her.

"She seems nice," He complimented and I nodded.

"Yeah, she does," I replied looking at the pictures she took.

"Did you guys take pictures?" Ashley asked bouncing.

"Yeah, we did. Did you?" Jake asked while I kept looking at one picture. I swiped it to the left and I saw the same stupid thing.

"Yes! Let me look at your pictures!" Ashley yelled snatching the phone from me.

"I'll be right back. I need to return something," I said and Ashley pulled me before I could take one more step.

"That's what you said the last time and you ended up in a fight with Quinnel. Where are you going now? And what do you have to return? You don't know anyone to have borrowed something from them in New York!" She asked and I sighed patting her head.

"I just need to return this cardigan. I don't need it anymore." I replied gesturing at my waist.

She looked down at my waist before she shook her head.

"Don't go, please," She begged and I raised a brow at her.

"Yeah, don't do it, Neve." Jake said also shaking his head.

"Why not?" I asked.

"Cause I'm sorry." I heard behind me and I let out a scoff.

"I'll be over there guys," I muttered walking away with the cardigan still hitting the back of my leg harshly reminding me that the cardigan was still around my waist.

You think I don't know that?!

Someone pulled my hand and I didn't turn my face around as I jerked the hand away angrily thinking it was Quinnel.

"Woah! Quite the temper you've got there." I heard an unfamiliar voice and I raised a brow before I turned around with a frown on my face.

I came face to the face with a slightly familiar red haired boy with freckles splattered over his nose bridge and black eyes as black as the night or ink.

I looked at him up and down before I frowned. I recognized him. He was Jake's Bully. The one we saw when we were checking out the Statue of Liberty. Seriously, is he stalking our school?

"Can I help you?" I asked and he smiled showing off his pearly white teeth while adjusting his fake gold watch that I was pretty sure wasn't even working!

I scoffed at that and turned my head before looking at him to give him a snarky comment before he can even think of what to do.

"Seriously, do people still do this kind of things? I mean, do toothpaste company still do live advertisment? And more so, don't they look at faces before they even choose their models? They just choose anyone that has white teeth. Ugly, Baboon Looking... Goodness. They really need to know that some faces scare people off sometimes." I asked and he froze before he looked up at me in anger.

"What did you just say to me?"

"Did you hear that? I think a fly or maybe it was a bee just buzzed past my ear just now." I said waving my hand near my ear like I waving off a fly.

I looked back at him and put on an innocent smile.

"I'm sorry, did you say something?" I asked placing my palms together.

I saw his fists clenched together as he breathed through his nose.

"Do you know who I am?" He asked and I rolled my eyes.

"Do I look like I give a damn? Now, if you would excuse me... I got other things to do than waste my precious time with useless things," I said with a sweet smile before I turned around to walk away only to halt when I felt a hand on my left butt cheek.

The actual fuck?!

I swung around without hesitation and threw him a harsh slap. I hadn't let him recover from that one when I gave him another one. Once he looked back up with his hand on his face and the edge of his lips tainted red from his bleeding, I swung my arm again to give out another slap and it was caught by someone.

Angrily, I turned my head around to glare at the bastard that was holding my hand and obstructing me from giving this low blooded bastard another slap. But I halted the slap when I saw who it was.

Quinnel.

"You shouldn't stain your hand with filthy things." He said with a cold voice.

I raised a brow at him and he simply used the hand that he was holding to pull me behind him.

I could only stare at his white shirt that covered his broad shoulders that I now noticed were shaking.

In fury or anger. It was one of the two but I didn't know which one it was.

It was soon confirmed when he swung his hand back and punched the red haired guy squarely in the jaw.
