Chapter 57: Chapter 57
"Nah, I didn't listen to him. You guys were yelling too much over my head and it's not good for my health, ears and brain." She said to Navaeh with a smile.
"What do I get for standing up?" Ashley asked Quinnel.
"I don't know. I promise I'll make it up to you?"
"You promised." She said finally and sat on her seat.
"Ash... I'll kill you myself someday."
"That someday isn't coming soon, my dear. Don't fret too much." She replied waving her hand.
Zaire chuckled and when his gaze met with Navaeh's glaring ones, he kept his mouth shut and grinned at her.
Quinnel took his former seat and sat like a king intentionally spreading his arms over to Navaeh.
Navaeh growled at him and he ignored it until she bit his arm.
"Hey! Why would you do that?"
"Oh, I don't know. Maybe cause someone was invading into my personal space! Ever heard of that word? Personal Space?" She barked.
Without waiting for a response, she placed her headphone back on her head and turned her neck harshly to the window.
"Stupid human being." She muttered to herself.
The Coach stood up once he saw they were drawing near their destination. He removed the partition and stepped into the students arena.
"Alright, listen up everyone." He called out looking at the whole bored face that he knew was going to light up in a few seconds.
"Ashford, help me with Thatcher's headphones." He said and Quinnel turned his head to the girl that was still staring outside.
"New York?" She mumbled to herself as Quinnel slid her headphones to her neck.
She turned her head to him sharply thinking it was one of his futile ways to get her to talk to him.
"Hey, do you wanna..."
Then she realized the whole bus was quiet. She looked around to see everyone was staring at her including the coach. Hold on, Coach?
"He wants to talk to us." Quinnel said to her leaning so it was directly into her ears and she glared at him when he blew air into her ears.
The coach sighed when he saw them. Young love...
"I believe I have everyone's attention?" He asked and mumbles of yes followed.
"We're almost there. Is anyone excited to find out where we are going?" He asked and yelled out loud suddenly in happy affirmation.
They were happy for two thing actually, the first one being the main, they were about to get out of the bus and the second, they finally reached! Some people just had the longest travel of their lives!
"I think I know where we are going." Navaeh said to Quinnel who raised a brow at her.
"Yeah? Should we bet?"
"Yes! The loser does whatever the winner wants." Navaeh replied confidently.
"Sure. You have a bet."
"What's your guess?"
"I say..."
"I say New York City!" Navaeh cut off right when they entered the city.
"Really? New York City?"
"Guys... We're in New York!" Someone yelled suddenly and everyone scooted over to the window squishing the original sitters of the window side.
"Let me see!"
"I don't believe it!"
"I see the hand holding the torch of the statue of liberty!"
"Where? Where? Where? Let me see it as well."
"Move your head! I wanna see it too!"
"I also want to see it!"
"Me too!"
"Where did you say you saw it?"
"I saw it over there. Look straight up. Do you see any green and tall structure?"
"Woah!"
Since they had entered in the afternoon, they had the opportunity of seeing the busy city with people trying to walk to their offices, some dressed in business suits, walking hurriedly to meet up with an appointment, some strolling the streets with their boyfriends, some with their parents, some were just coming from lecture classes. Different people in different attire.
It was obvious New York was a big city and it was obvious, Quinnel had lost the bet he raised.
"Look at that cute family."
"Look at those guys kissing in public."
"PDA is not advised guys. There are single people in this life!"
"Get a bedroom!"
"Woah, I wanna drink just one cup of coffee from that cafe! It looks so cute!
"Yo, Laura... Look at the Library."
"That's the public Library. I wish we can visit it. It looks so fine!"
"Look at that bakery. I heard their croissants are the best! I'm definitely going to try them out if I see the opportunity!"
"You guys are talking? Take pictures!"
"Oh wait, that's true."
"This is definitely going to my prized album!"
"Me too!"
"I'm sure we're going to have the best time of our lives!"
"Yay!"
"Up Silva High!"
"Whoo hoo!"
"I'm so glad I came on this trip." Navaeh said happily as she took pictures as best as she could.
Quinnel turned to her and chuckled happily as well.
Soon, the bus came to an halt and the students ushered the person at the door to open it reals quick.
"Hey Charles! Open the damned door!"
"I just wanna get out of this bus and step into the fresh air!"
"Breathe in New York City Air!"
"You do know the oxygen is the same right?" Someone replied with a chuckle.
"I don't care!" The person that talked first replied with a light laugh.
Everyone laughed at her sentence just as the door opened. Immediately, the students that were already standing rushed to the front to get out the bus first.
Finally, the bus was empty and standing by its side was 56 students with her jaws on the floor. No one could tell them to close their mouths cause the people that could were their mates whose jaws were on the ground as well.
In front of them was a gigantic tall skyscraper that had glass as the outer walls, with Hyatt Grand Central New York and before they had the chance to gape at it, the Coach ushered them into the hotel lobby
The lobby was bright as it was properly lighted even though it was in the afternoon. The coach walked to the receptionist giving them a warning which they nodded absentmindedly to...
On the ceiling was a high end expensive beautiful chandelier handing down above them. They were mesmerized by the lights and the building but their legs were giving out and so they all walked to the couches available still admiring the decor of the hotel lobby...
"Alright, everyone gather round." The coach said holding a silver beautiful coloured bucket
The students groaned from being cut off from their little exploration and their resting.
"Everyone, in this bucket in my hand... are the keys to your rooms. The girls have the fifth floor while the sixth floor belongs to the guys. Each room has two keys as there would be two people in the same room. You would be roommates for the duration of our stay here." The coach said and soon their were joyous chatters of people wishing they would get to stay with their friend including Zaire and Quinnel, Ashley and Navaeh.
"All right, when you have your keys, you're free to change your partners as long as the other person is willing to exchange. If not, I don't want to hear any whining.
"Yes, Coach.
"Great... Now, come and get your keys one after the other. But before you come, there are four colours of keys, Red, Blue, Yellow and Silver If you have your keys and it's red... Please stand there..." He said pointing at the entrance. If yours is blue, stand about 1 metre away from the person with yellow, and if yours is Silver stand over there.
Everyone walked over to the bucket and started picking keys randomly while praying internally that they get to stay with their friends.
Soon, they were divided into groups. Quinnel, Zaire, Ashley, Jake and Zaire were fortunately in the same group along with 10 other students
Ashley and Navaeh chose each other as roommates while Quinnel and Zaire chose each other. Jake was left standing awkward until a guy came over to ask him.
They went to the bus to get their bags from the cargo before they all walked to the elevator that was to transport them to their room to settle down.
"I'll mett you guys here for breakfast by 8:00 am tomorrow morning! Rest up and remember to give your family a call."
"Yes, Coach!"
"Sir, can we go out on a tour?" A student asked with a small smile.
"Your face is so convincing."
"Say yes Coach!" The students hollered and he grinned.
"Fine. But be back by 9! Did you hear me? 9pm."
"Thank you coach!"
The coach sighed, all the weariness from the traveling finally wore him down and as soon as he got to his room, he fell to the soft bed with a grunt.
