Chapter 42: Chapter 42

"Hold on, you don't look surprised." She paused pointing at me.

"Umm yeah. I kinda figured it out way before." I replied with a shrug.

"Woah! That's so brilliant. Wait till everyone hears!"

And like that, off she went.

"Like I said, Leech." Ashley said leaning to me.

"You told everyone?" I asked and she nodded her head.

"Wow, that's dope."

"Ashley Hemple." We heard again and I sighed.

This is going to be a long day.

We both turned around to see Betsy Ross. The news queen of the school.

Any hot news that you have or want to know, go to Betsy... You'll most certainly find it with her.

She's the first one to know the newest news in school. She has a TikTok account where she posted stuffs about the school. I also follow her.

Explains the phone she was holding up right now to Ashley's Face. I just hope one day, I don't become the topic again.

Again you ask? The first week I placed first in the whole school, which was way back in 10th grade... I did not rest for the whole day!

"How do you feel to have your secret out in the school? Everyone knows you now. More importantly they know your brother. I mean who wouldn't? He's hot and he plays basketball." She said with a dreamy sigh and Ashley looked at me before we snickered.

She cleared her throat and pushed her glasses up before she continued her words the dreamy gaze never leaving her for a second.

"His best friend is hot as well and he's the captain. Speaking of which, his new friend is Navaeh Thatcher. I wonder if they're going to date." She said and before her eyes moved to me, I made to turn away.

"And that's my cue to leave." I muttered walking away.

"Be strong. You can do this." I said to Ashley and immediately strutted along.

Some seconds later, Ashley looped her hands into mine and grinned at me.

"What happened to Betsy?" I asked and turned my head a little bit so see her phone facing her face.

"I ended the interview early." She said with a wink and I shook my head.

"When are you turning in your form?" She asked and I rolled my eyes.

"It's still on my desk at home. I haven't even gotten a look at it." I replied and she nodded her head slowly.

"Either ways, get your one of your parents signature and you can fill the rest yourself anytime you want." She said nonchalantly and I paused in my step.

Ashley turned her head to see what the hold up was looking at our still looped hand first before she looked at my face.

"One of our parents has to sign on it?" I asked and she blinked at me before nodding slowly.

"Why? Why do we need their signatures?" I asked and she giggled.

"Don't be silly. The school needs it to know they truly let you go on the trip and you're going with your parents consent not running away from them." She replied with a giggle as if any of this was funny.

"Where's Quinnel?" I asked instead.

"Right behind yah." I heard suddenly and I jumped with a shriek.

Zaire snickered and Ashley did the same while Quinnel had an amused smile on his face.

"That was not funny." I said and they burst out laughing.

"Quinnel, Shut up and follow me." I muttered and pulled him with me.

"Woah, calm down there, feisty tiger." He said and I growled.

"I can't go to the trip! I can't get my parents signature! You know that!" I yelled in a whisper.

"Oh no worries. I talked to my Mum about it and she said she would sign for you." He replied with a shrug and it took everything in me to not slap his face.

This blabber mouth!

"How much exactly did you tell your Mum?" I asked with a pinch of my nose bridge.

"Don't worry. Your secret is still safe. I didn't tell her about it. I only told her your parents were away on a trip that's why the twins needs looking after and why you need her signature."

"And she believed it?"

"Oh trust me... I'm a good liar." He said proudly.

"I wouldn't lie to you though." He added quickly and I heard my heart beating louder and faster.

"Uhh, I should say thanks then." I said and he nodded.

"We'll have so much fun! I'll take you on a tour."

"The last time I checked, the students, which is us, don't know the place we're going. It's meant to be a surprise."

"I could find it out if I wanted to." He replied with a shrug and I rolled my eyes at him.

"But I want it to be a surprise to you and me. So I won't ask."

"Wow, what a good boy." I said with sarcasm.

"I know." He replied and I shook my head chuckling.

"We should probably get back to the others." I said pointing behind us.

"Uhh yeah. Before they get the wrong idea. We've been gone for some minutes now." He said and I nodded my head.

"Well then, shall we?" He said stretching his hand to me.

"Yes please." I replied taking his hand.

He smiled and I laughed for no absolute reason. Once we stepped into the hallway from under the stairs, I noticed everyone's eyes was looking towards the door. People talked in whispers and were blocking the door so I didn't see anything.

"What up?" I asked Ashley and thankfully even though she was practically drooling, she answered me.

"That guy is so fine!" She said with a soft gasp and I turned around to the direction of the door which was now cleared surprisingly, coming face to face with someone whose chance of me seeing again was formerly one to none now One hundred to Forever.

His deep blue eyes looked around until they caught mine staring and he grinned at me with a small wave.

Oh shit.
