Chapter 23: Chapter 23

Navaeh.

"But really I still can't believe those two are Twins." I said and I saw him turn his head away from the street up ahead to me briefly before his head returned to it's former position.

"Well, the semblance is actually there." He replied with a low voice making me roll my eyes at him in annoyance.

"Did he tell you himself?" I asked and I saw him purse his lips. "Zaire, I mean." I added.

"Nah. Found out the first day I saw the both of them." He replied and I rolled my eyes yet again.

Bluff.

"I just want to go home and rest. Just sleep like a log of wood!" I exclaimed and his chuckle resonated in my ears.

I turned to him to see an amused smile on his lips bringing my own too to life.

"Then do." He taunted.

My smile fell.

"Are you mocking the fact that I have a job to go to and you know fully well that I do?"

"Of course not. You don't have to go to work though." He said and I gave a dry laugh.

"Why? Cause you're my boss or you're willing to me a job in your company that's in the making?" I taunted.

"I asked for some days leave for you. So you don't have to go to work."

I was quick to readjust myself on the seat leaning forward.

"What? Who did you ask that from? Who gave you permission. No no, that's not the issue right now. Did he accept? No no, How many days leave did you ask for?" I rambled.

"I asked from Koa, that guy is very weird though." He said and I laughed again.

"Oh? Did he perhaps call me Sugar Plum?" I asked amused and he twisted his neck to my face.

"Sounds like he calls you that often." He replied instead.

"Well what can I say? He is my baby." I replied with a shrug leaning back on the chair.

"Anyways, I asked for a week's leave..."

"You did what?!" I cut him off in a hurry.

"...so you can go back to work next week I guess." He finished nonetheless.

"Oh nice! Thank you ! Thank you! Thank you!" I said with a smile. I was really happy to have some hours to myself after school.

"You're welcome." He replied and I smiled at him.

My mind drifted to Ashley and Zaire's face from earlier this afternoon.

After their eyes widened, they tried to make a turn for it and lie yet again but I didn't allow them.

They finally admitted to it and made me swear not to tell anyone.

Well, of course curious me, I asked why and they replied,

"When people find out I and Ashley are twins, I being the most popular one would draw attention to my twin sister automatically." Then Zaire grinned making Ashley smack him.

He regained his composure with a pout and Ashley took over.

"And then, when people start placing thier attention on me, they would surely see my and Connie's friendship is more than just best friends then when they find out we're dating... my school life, social life and gay life is officially over." Ashley finished with a sad voice.

I felt sad for them. it was kind of the same thing with me. If people find out eventually, I don't even want to think of the consequences. The stares, glares they would throw your way would make you feel ashamed of the now exposed secret.

School is a place full of fake people, fake friends who flash you fake smiles even though behind that smiling face is a conniving bitch's evil face. But not all. Most.

They all just waiting for your secret to come out in the open and I tell you, when it does, you don't even know the source again as it would spread like a damned wildfire.

"We're here." He said breaking me out my thoughts and I looked up at the building in front of me.

"They are not at thier usual spot." I said pointing at the bench.

"Let's go look for them then." He said and turned off the engine slipping out of the car. I unlocked my seat belt and walked out slamming the door behind me. A little too much if you ask me.

I whimpered when the door slammed and I hurriedly stepped away from it lest people started turning their necks to look at the fool that had decided to drop the door so loud.

"Real strong, Miss Thatcher." I heard and I turned my head to see Quinnel smirking at me.

"Don't try me, Mister Ashford." I replied with a look mirroring his.

He chuckled and we proceeded into the main school.

I saw the twins home room teacher who I guess must be Caspian's as well since they were in the same class.

"There is their home room teacher." I said pointing at her and Quinnel nodded.

"I know. I've seen her before." He replied and we made her way to her.

When she set her sight on me, I saw her lips twist in distaste, her eyebrows furrowed together and her chin high.

"You don't have a problem with Blacks now, do you?" Quinnel asked in a calm voice and her eyes moved to him her chin coming down, her lips untwisting to settle in a thin line and her eyebrows raised as if to question what he meant.

"I beg your pardon?" She asked and I cringed at her seemingly loud voice.

"We're looking for Aelin and Aerin Thatcher. As well as Caspian Ashford? Do you have any idea where they might possibly be?" I said and her eyes came back to me.

She eyed me up and down and I clenched my fist to hold myself back from not dealing her a slap or something.

"And who might you be?" She asked in a horrible voice.

"Obviously, if you paid more attention, you would realize the fact that she's obviously their sister and I his brother." Quinnel replied in a voice I didn't know he possessed. Cold. Aloof. Emotionless.
