Chapter 13: Chapter 13

"Why didn't you reply my messages? Do you know how worried I was?! How scared I was?!" He yelled and I blinked at his house frozen.

"What?" was the only thing that slipped out of my mouth. It was the only thing that I could force out of my mouth after the sudden outburst and shock.

"Don't do that, Heaven." He warned breaking away from the hug and I sighed.

"I simply didn't see your message." I replied and looked back up.

"Where is your phone?" He asked and I reached for it behind my pocket. Raising it up for him to see, he snatched it from me.

"What's the password?" He asked and I scoffed.

"Yeah, I'm not dumb enough to give you my password. What do you want to use my phone to do?" I asked and he rolled his eyes.

He stretched it back to me and I collected it opening it still eyeing him. After he saw it was open, he snatched it from me again and opened WhatsApp.

I noticed his messages there. On the top list. Was that... 11?!

"You sent me 11 messages?" I asked and he nodded his head pinning his chat.

"What are you doing?" I asked and rolled his eyes giving my phone back to me.

"Always. Always reply my texts, Heaven."

"I'm not even a child." I muttered to myself slipping it back into my phone.

"Hold on, if you pinned your chat on my phone... Let me see your phone." I said stretching my hand.

He placed it on mine and I snatched it the same way he did.

Call me a child but it's tit for tat.

I slide the screen to see the display picture change which means the phone had unlocked itself.

"You don't have a password to your phone?" I asked and he shrugged.

"Talk about Foolishness." I muttered opening WhatsApp.

"What are you, 50?" I asked and he rolled his eyes.

"I don't remember it that much so I decided to just remove the whole thing." He replied shrugging.

"What are you, 70?" I asked and he chuckled.

"I'll set it up when you give me my phone. Happy?" He asked.

"Why are you asking me?" I asked blushing looking down at the phone.

I saw my chat at the top of the list with a pin beside it. His Mum too had a pin so did Zaire's.

"You even pinned Zaire's chat." I said with a chuckle.

"Yeah." He replied shrugging.

"You, My Mum and My best friend."

"Me don't have a relationship?" I asked.

"Could be my girlfriend if you want." He replied with a shrug and I was quick to return his phone to him pushing my way into his house.

"Um come in?" He said and I didn't look back at him.

"Where are my girlfriends?" I asked and I paused noticing what I just said.

"Shit." I cursed.

"Well, girlfriend... Your girlfriends are sleeping on the couch." He winked at me and I turned around pursing my lips to hide my smile that was fighting so hard to come up.

I immediately walked further into the room and I saw Aelin, Aerin and Caspian asleep sprawled over the couch while the TV played Frozen.

"Caspian watches Frozen?" I asked turning around to Quinnel.

"Never seen him watch it before though but I did this afternoon." He replied.

"Oh okay." I said and made to wake Aelin up.

"That's Aelin right?" He asked and I nodded my head at him.

"I knew I now recognize them!" He replied and I rolled my eyes.

"Quinnel? Who is here?" I heard an older voice making me slap my forehead at my forgetfulness. Of course, his Mom was home.

How could I forget that?

I heard approaching feet and then a carbon copy of Quinnel just the older and female version was standing in front of us.

"Oh... You must be Navaeh." She said with a smile.

"Hello, ma'am."

"My... Do you remember me? You guys used to eat my cookies while you came over to play with him." She said walking towards us that smile never leaving her face.

"Well, I don't quite remember but I'm sure if I taste that cookie... My memory might come running back at me." I said and she chuckled pulling me into a hug.

"How are your parents?" She asked pulling away.

"They're... Umm... They're fine. Asked me to extend their... greetings to you." I lied through my teeth and I saw Quinnel frown with my peripheral vision.

"Aw! Tell them I send my best regards." She replied.

"I will ma'am." I replied and she nodded her head.

"Here to pick the twins?" She asked and I nodded my head at them.

"I already made them pancakes. So you don't have to cook anymore food for them." She replied and I nodded my head thanking her.

I was walking towards them when Quinnel's Mum said "Go help her. I'll take Caspian in."

I carried Aelin gently and placed her on my shoulder while she wrapped her hand more on my neck. I looked down at her bag to only purse my lips.

I saw Quinnel take Aerin's bag and hang it on her back before his Mum came and carried her placing her gently on his back. My mouth fell open at that.

That's so... genius. How dumb I am?

Quinnel caught my eyes and looked back at me mouthing the words "I know... I'm wiser than you."

I rolled my eyes at him and placed Aelin down doing the same for her. After she was securely on my back, I thanked Mrs Ashford again and walked out of their house with Quinnel behind me.

We had walked for a while when he spoke breaking the silence.

"Why did you lie to my Mum?"

He asked and I paused then I sighed and continued walking.

"I can't go rambling on and on about my parent's. You just found out by accident. I didn't mean to tell you, remember?" I asked and he didn't say anything more.

I looked at him briefly to see his mouth in a twist. I said nothing and finally we were at the door. I slipped the key out and opened the door.

"Wait here." I said and took Aelin to their room placing her down gently.

Then I walked back downstairs to collect Aerin from Quinnel. After tucking them in , I sighed and walked back downstairs only to find it empty.

Well, he did seem angry but I still can't go and tell him mother. I don't want anyone's pity. Locking up the door, I bounced up the stairs and into my room twisting the knob open.

I stepped into the room closing the door after me only to turn around with a gasp
