Chapter 77: Chapter 77
Havana left after talking with Delilah. Delilah was stunned by whatever Havana told her.
She looked around to see Everett but he was nowhere.
A maid came to Delilah and bowed to her.
"Hello, young miss."
Delilah remembered that maid. She was one of the maids who tried to insult her because of her clothes when she came to the palace with Everett for the first time.
"Yes?"
"Lady Amanda is asking for you."
"Lady Amanda?"
"The king's grandmother."
"Oh."
Delilah did not know Everett's grandmother's name. So she could not recognize her when the maid told her the name.
"This way."
The maid gestured with her hand and Delilah nodded her head.
They went another way and came out to the main hallway. They went upstairs from the backside so that others could not see them.
They went to Amanda's room. The maid opened the door and signaled her to enter.
Delilah looked inside first to see if the grandmother was truly inside or not.
When she saw Amanda sitting on the bed she smiled and entered.
"Grandmother." Delilah called her.
Amanda's face brightened up.
"My child, come here."
Delilah closed the door and ran towards Amanda. She hugged her.
Amanda was really close to her. She even saved her from the prison.
"Granda is very angry with you." Amanda said and looked aside.
"Why, Grandma?"
"Why did you leave? Why didn't you tell me before you leave?"
Delilah lowered her head. "I am sorry, Grandma."
Amanda shook her head and caressed Delilah's head.
"It's okay. Now you are back here. I am very happy."
Delilah looked at her. She looked very happy. But she got the wrong idea. Delilah is not going to stay there again. She just came to attend a party.
"Grandma, I-"
"I know you came here to attend the royal party."
Delilah was stunned. "How do you know that?"
"My grandson told me that you would come for sure."
Delilah nodded. He called Alpha Elias because he promised his grandmother that she would come.
"How are you, my child?"
"I am just fine, Grandma. How are you? Tell me about your health."
"Don't worry I am fine. The best doctor is giving me his treatment. How can I not be fine?"
"You mean Conor?"
"Yeah."
"That's great, Grandma. Now you will be totally fine. What about the symptoms?"
"Everything has gone after Everett gave me a potion?"
"He gave you a potion?" Delilah frowned.
"Yeah. The wizard who always helped him, helped me this time."
Delilah remembered how that wizard's bracelet helped her to protect her. She wished she could thank him once.
"Is he still in the forest?"
"No, Everett set him free."
Delilah gasped. "Free?"
Amanda nodded at her and smiled. "My grandson came to be mature after he became the king. He cared about his people. He set the wizard free. You don't know how much that man cried when he got back to his present self, it was like a cage for himself to be stuck between his past and the future."
Delilah's lips parted. "He must be very happy."
"He is very pleased. He came here to this palace after the war because Everett called him. I saw him that time. I had met with him once before that day when his wife was our lead witch. But what his wife did to my grandson was unforgivable and she got her punishment from the moon goddess. However, that poor husband had to carry his wife's burden all these years."
"Where is he now?"
"He is living in the Norfolk village. Though he goes to the forest most of the time to practice."
Delilah thought it was good. That man stayed in the forest for a long time, so he needed that freedom.
After talking with Amanda, Delilah stood up.
"I am leaving now. Alpha may search for me. Please take care of yourself, Grandma."
Amanda stared at her for a while. Then she smiled at her.
"Very good, we will meet again, my child."
Delilah could not understand the reason behind that smile. But she nodded and went out of her room.
The moment she closed the door of Amanda's room after coming out, she heard a voice,
"Done talking with grandma?"
Delilah turned to the owner of the voice.
She saw Everett leaning against a pillar.
"Yeah."
Delilah replied and started to walk forward. When she was about to pass him, he grabbed her wrist.
"I am going to leave now. Please, I don't want to hear your humiliation again. I have already left your kingdom so that you don't have to see me. Now what do you want?"
Everett pulled her towards him. She looked up at him.
"Why was he talking so closely with you?"
Delilah frowned. "Who?"
"That Simon."
Delilah raised her brows. 'Is he still thinking about Simon?'
Delilah shook her head. "What's wrong with you?"
"Why are you with him all the time? I just want your answer."
"My answer? Why would I answer you? And why do you even care? Have you forgotten you abandoned me?"
His eyes lingered into her eyes. But she did not stop talking.
"Have you forgotten that you set me free two months ago?"
This time he smirked and let her wrist go.
He said in his deep voice,
"So what if I abandoned you? I didn't let you go to get close to another man. You are my woman and I haven't given you permission to go and start a new life with another man yet."
Delilah looked at him shocked. "W-What do you mean?"
She forgot to tell him that what he was thinking was not true. There was nothing between her and Alpha Simon.
The main thing rushing into her mind was why did he care, why did he say something like that?
He replied to her questions,
"You will get to know soon, Delah."
He walked two steps backward, then turned around and left.
Delilah stared at his back until he left her sight.
She was bewildered by his answers. She blinked for a few times.
"What did he mean?" She asked herself and walked to the hallway to go back to the party hall.
When she reached there she saw Alpha Elias's angry face.
'What happened to him?' Delilah thought.
When he saw Delilah he changed his expression and sighed.
"I was looking for you, Delilah. Let's go back." Alpha Elias said.
Delilah nodded and walked with Alpha Elias. Luna and Alpha Simon were standing aside. When they saw Alpha Elias and Delilah, they walked to them and all of them left together.
In the car, Simon was silent all the time.
"Simon, you were going to say something that time." Delilah reminded him.
Simon shook his head while looking outside through the window.
"Sometimes what you want, you can't get because that was never yours from the start. So it's better if you let it go."
Delilah wanted to hit her own head. 'What is happening today? Why is everyone talking in a coded language? I am getting anything.'
Delilah did not ask anything further because she saw Simon's mood was not fine.
The whole car ride was uncommunicative. She only thought of Everett.
What did he indicate? What would she get to know?
Her eyes widened when she remembered what he did to her mate.
'I should have told him that he had mistaken Simon and me. What if he harms Simon? What will I do?'
An unknown dread inflated inside her core that she wanted to shirk but could not do that.
It took a long time to go back to her pack. When the car stopped in front of the entrance of the pack house, Simon was the first one who got out of the car and went inside the pack house.
Delilah could see how furious he looked when he got out of the car.
Delilah assumed Alpha Elias and Simon had some argument. She even noticed Alpha Elias's angry face when she went back to the party hall after meeting grandma. She believed that she guessed right.
Did they have any argument about Simon's mate?
For once, Delilah thought Simon should get whom he loved, but then again, what about his mate? She did not want Simon to be like her mate, who wanted to make her his sex slave.
Delilah went inside the pack house along with Alpha and Luna. Their car had just entered the entrance after Simon's car.
Delilah was about to go to her room when Alpha stopped her by calling her.
"Delilah"
Delilah turned to him and asked, "Yes?"
Alpha looked nervous which stunned Delilah.
"Is everything okay, Alpha?" She asked Alpha and glanced at Luna who was equally agitated.
Alpha shook his head and said,
"We will have a guest tomorrow. I hope you will be at pack house tomorrow."
"Guest? Do I know them?"
Alpha nodded as he carefully looked at her and replied,
"King Everett will come to visit our pack tomorrow."
