Chapter 73: Chapter 73
The war was over. The palace and outside of the palace were stirred up. Everyone shifted back and went back to their places.
Delilah was in Amanda's room.
Amanda was crying while looking out at the widow.
Her shaking hand was grabbing the white blind.
She was an old woman. She could not take so much happening. It was true that her son Alfred killed her elder son Ezra. Her daughter in law was the one who was behind everything. Her grandson Maverick was not a good person, he wanted to kill Everett and almost succeeded once.
If Everett killed them, it was his right to take revenge and Amanda did not oppose it.
However, she was also a mother. She was not like Azenia, who only loved her one son. Amanda loved both of her sons but she was a strong Queen in her time. She could not let others be wronged.
Delilah put her hand on Amnada's shoulder.
"Grandma."
Amanda touched her hand and cried a lot.
"When your grandfather was alive, we lived a good life. Everett's father was from a different rank but he never said to do any war.
After your grandfather's death, I planned to give the crown to Everett's father because it was his right as the first heir of this kingdom.
But why did Alfred and Azenia do that? If they did not come to interrupt anything, everyone would be happy now. This war did not have to happen."
Delilah hugged Amanda and patted her back slowly.
"It was their fate, Granda. Please don't think about them anymore. Your health is not fine, you will get sick."
Amanda nodded. Delilah saw her medicines and gave her the sleeping pill Amanda always used to take.
Amanda took her medicine and lay in the bed. Delilah covered Amanda with the quilt and told her to sleep peacefully.
Delilah glanced outside. It was early morning.
She stood beside the window for a long time and then glanced at Amanda.
When she saw that Amanda was sleeping, she went out of the room.
She walked to the hallway. Her eyes fell on the room where she and Everett stayed when they came to the palace.
The room was locked.
Delilah understood whose room it was. It was Everett's father's room. That's why Everett stayed there. It was attached to his emotion.
Delilah walked to the stairs and went downstairs.
She saw the whole palace was neat and clean. Maids were working as if nothing happened last night.
Was it not strange?
Their king had changed last night, their king's family died in one night and they were working like everything was the same as before.
Delilah felt that this was a royal life. 'When you die, someone else will take your place. After all, it is all about the royal position.'
Delilah sighed and strolled towards the main door.
"Where are you going?"
Delilah stopped when she heard someone. She turned around.
"Conor."
"Where are you going, Delilah?"
Conor asked and stepped towards her.
Delilah smiled at him. "I am leaving now."
"Where?"
"Somewhere far."
"Why?"
"What do you mean by why?"
Delilah did not want to stay there. The war was over. Everett became the king and it was his new life.
He would take a Queen someday. So there was no point in staying in the palace. What would she do there?
Everett had already told her that he did not like her. He even told her to go away. So she could not stay there in the palace. It was true that she tried to save her but she still could not forget his words. He specified to her that day that he did not like her a bit.
"I mean why are you leaving? You can live here from now on."
Delilah shook her head.
"No, I don't want to stay here. But thanks for saying that."
"Where will you go?"
"I think I should go back to my pack."
Conor looked stunned. "Are you sure?"
Delilah nodded her head. "I will go to the pack house. The Alpha is my father's friend because my father was one of his officials. He will manage something for me."
Delilah saw Conor look around. His eyes became foggy.
She understood that he was mind linking with someone.
Conor looked at Delilah and nodded.
"Okay. You can leave. But stay safe."
Delilah somehow felt heart broken. Because she knew to whom Conor's mind was linked.
Delilah nodded and turned around. She heard Conor again,
"Well, Everett is not here right now. Will you wait for some time to meet him and then leave?"
"No need for that." Delilah replied.
"Delilah, I am sorry for what happened. We should have believed you. We should not have trusted that Lily."
Delilah turned around and asked,
"You all got to know about Lily?"
Conor nodded. "Yeah."
"Where is she?"
Conor averted her gaze. Delilah frowned.
"What?"
"Well, we killed her."
Delilah's eyes widened. "Killed her?"
"Everett does not like betrayal. We don't like it either. I always thought she was a potential woman who liked to help others, but she betrayed us. She was one of Maverick's people from the start. She came to the village on a mission. She was always at his side."
Delilah sighed. She was a simple girl. She did not know those types of conspiracy. She thought Lily liked Conor but Lily was also on Conor's enemy side who wanted to kill him. Lily should have told Conor about it. If she did, she would not have to die.
Delilah turned around to leave and said,
"Please thank your king on behalf of me for giving me shelter all these months."
"You can thank him yourself."
Delilah shook her head without looking back,
"I have to leave now."
Saying that she placed her foot outside of the palace.
When she came out of the palace area, she saw Thompon standing beside the carriage.
"Young lady" He called Delilah.
"I could not thank you properly last night. Thank you, Thompson."
Thompson shook his head. "No, it was my duty."
Delilah smiled at him and was about to turn to the other side. He stopped her by calling her again.
"Young lady, where are you going?"
"I am leaving this kingdom." She replied.
Thompson nodded his head.
"I know that. But why are you going there? The carriage is here." He pointed at his carriage.
"Carriage?"
"Yeah. I just got the order to drop you to your pack."
"Order? Does grandma know about me going out of the kingdom?" Delilah asked as she was surprised.
"No, an order from the king."
"K-King? You mean Everett?" She whispered.
But Thompson nodded his head because he heard her clearly.
Delilah felt a pang in her chest.
'He indeed wants me to leave him.' She thought.
She nodded and got in the carriage.
It was the same carriage. She looked at the empty place in front of her seat.
She looked away and glanced at the window.
She missed Everett.
She did not know what would happen to her or him from now on.
Their life would be apart from that moment.
He was going to live in the palace from now. The wooden house might be empty from now on.
Everything was going to change.
A tear fell on her cheek. She closed her eyes and tears started to drip out of her eyes.
The carriage started to move and she grasped her fists. Her nails almost pierced into her palm.
The pain in her heart was increasing every second.
The whole day passed in the carriage. When it was midnight, Delilah heard knocks on the door.
She could not sleep last night so she fell asleep in the daylight and woke up by the knock at midnight.
She opened the door and peeked her head outside. She opened her eyes. She did not know when she fell asleep.
She saw a few guards and Thompson.
Thompson smiled at her.
"Young lady, everything is set. Please go outside."
Delilah looked around and saw the carriage was in the entrance area of her pack house.
She came down with the help of the guards. She frowned when she saw them.
"What are the guards doing here?" She asked Thompson.
Then she realized what Thompson said the moment she opened the carriage door.
She looked at Thompson.
"You said everything is set. What did you mean by that?"
Before she could get the answer, one of the guards said, "Please, go inside. Alpha is waiting for you."
Thompson smiled at her. "I am done here. Goodbye, young lady."
He got in the front side of the carriage and left the pack house.
Delilah was confused and went inside the pack house.
She saw Alpha and Luna there sitting on the couch.
When they saw her, they stood up.
"Delilah." Alpha let out. A smile was on his face which Delilah could not understand.
Delilah smiled and bowed to the Alpha and Luna.
Luna also looked happy. Delilah felt they were happy seeing her in case they were searching for her.
"Don't worry. We know everything. We punished your step parents."
Delilah was shocked to hear the Alpha.
"Thank you, Alpha."
"No no. You don't have to thank me. You are going to stay with us from now on."
Delilah parted her lips.
"Really?"
Luna smiled and replied,
"Yeah, this is your new home."
