Chapter 31: Chapter 31
The moment I stepped into the comfort of my room, a sharp exhale forced out of my throat, legs feeling wobbly. What in the world happened? My face was bright red, cheeks too hot to touch, and my fingers shaking. I tried to focus on something else. But what do I do? In light of the storm, television and radio reception would be nonexistent, but it was way too early to fall back asleep.
My omega needed to be distracted as soon as possible. The only real options were reading, writing a letter to my parents, who might not bother accepting, go in the living room and face Aiden again. Neither of which held any appeal.
As I heard the crackling sound of the fire, my shoulders slumped down, and because my bedroom door was open, I could feel the room getting toasty warm. A hot shower sounded nice. But in the end, I decided to fill the tub with water. Opting for a natural form of light, I lit the vanilla scented candles.
I was never one to be tortured by horniness, but at the moment, my entire body ached for it. My loins clenched with a sharp surge of need; the lapping of the water caused my abdomen to clench. Maybe the bath had been a mistake; the water too much like an intimate caress. Tears stung my eyes, and I closed them, leaning into the water and letting it protect me like a cocoon. My omega wanted to bond.
Especially in a time like this. Hard-thrusting, sweaty, heart-pounding mating. And also wanted to love again, to be loved again. All I have ever wanted was to reach out into the night and pull a warm body back. I craved connection to rid myself of this terrible plaguing loneliness.
I allowed five more minutes to wallow, then stood up, using my toe to open the drain. Walking out of the room, I threw on a black hoodie, a jacket along, and a matching pair of leggings, grabbed a book from its place on the nightstand and settled down to read.

My breath was still caught in my throat, two hours after that incident when I thought about how Aiden pressed his cock against me, and it's tough to ignore the fact that for a minute there, my omega enjoyed it. While trying to read the book, I could not stop thinking about it, though, about how it felt, warm Alpha plastered all over my back, nearly riding me from behind.
I was still trying to resist the urge to climb back into that pile of blankets, calling to me.
My plan had been to keep ignoring because the past experiences have proven that somehow we are not good at talking about things. On the cue, my stomach growled, and I could no longer ignore the heat bubbling in there. Wolves need a lot of food to maintain their body heat and stay warm during icy weather. The weird trance that had taken hold of both of us this morning was back. I could feel it, stepping out of my room.
Aiden stilled upon seeing me. His toast hung mid-air, eyes going wide as I walked towards the dining table. My mouth twisted at the lack of soup on the table. Only black coffee and toast. How was he planning on surviving with that? Shaking my head, I rounded the kitchen counter.
"There's cans of soup in the left drawer." His voice made me shiver. I gripped the counter, my fingers curling around instead of answering him. My head jerked in response.
The slow burn I felt on the back of my neck whenever facing away from Aiden told me that he's spending some time staring at me. There's a tiny little thrill that coursed through my body every time I felt his intense eyes following my actions. The product of knowing there's a hot Alpha staring at me gave me a bit of confidence to move around a little more than strictly necessary, but that doesn't have to be an essential thing.
He cleared his throat. "This will clear up in few hours till then don't open the doors or windows."
Why was he talking so much? Did he suddenly develop an interest after last night? Or maybe he's just trying to make a conversation?Something that never happened before. I bobbed my head, focusing on finding the can of tomato soup—any soup for that matter.
“Use your words!" The Alpha let out a growl, almost making me drop the utensil on the counter. I fought against my instincts and turned around, a frown settling over his features.
"I'm trying to make a soup here!"
He appeared taken back by the sudden hiss. I parted my lips. That came out of nowhere. In my defence, my toes were numb, and I could not stop shivering despite the clothes.
"Lower your voice, omega! Don't forget you are talking to your Pack Alpha."
I immediately whined, shaking my head, trying to come up with an explanation. "A-Alpha I..."
“Save it!” He rolled his eyes and walked away, taking the plate and cup of his coffee with him. I sagged against the wall, glaring at his back, my appetite suddenly lost.

The wind began to howl, to sweep down, and the snowfall grew steadily heavier. Aiden made himself scarce for the rest of the day, not bothering to ignite the fireplace. I didn't go back to my room, trying to curl up on the couch.
With nightfall, I could no longer see out the windows, so I opened the door to peek out. It was a grave mistake. The savage wind slammed into the door, almost knocking me over. Snow exploded into the living room, and I could see nothing but an unyielding wall of white.
"Alpha!" I shrieked, trying to stand on my wobbly legs. "Aiden!"
He burst through the doors, his mouth parting as he saw the door open. I felt his eyes immediately settling on me, a groan escaping his lips. "I told you not to open it!"
"I'm sorry." A pitiful cry escaped my lips. I should have listened to him.
Pulling me back up, we both grabbed the door and threw all his weight into it, forcing it to shut. The wind still battled to get in, wailing a high pitched cry. I pushed my hair out of my face and blew out a deep breath. That was a full-fledged blizzard, a complete whiteout where wind and snow blocked all visibility. My shoulder ached from ramming it into the door, and melted snow had created a sizeable puddle on the floor.
Aiden placed some dry kindling and rolled newspaper under the logs he had already put in the hearth. He produced a lighter from his pocket and started the fire. I continued to watch the fire for a moment to make sure it stayed lit and to enjoy the mesmerising beauty.
Dragging myself to the couch, I slumped down, and Aiden sat down next to me and made a point of hurrying as far toward the end of the sofa as he can. He looked ethereal in the soft, orange glow of the fire, and I had to redirect my attention to the crackling wood quickly.
My body sank further into the couch when my head lolled back, feeling my temples throb.
"Omega!" He shook me. "You stopped shivering."
"Huh?"
"If you're still shivering, your body still has enough strength to try to keep itself warm. No shivering means the body has given up." The Alpha explained, eyes wide.
"W-What?"
"Get in my lap!"
