Chapter 89: Chapter 89

Chaylen’s POV

I have to be honest; Slyvester and I have gotten into trouble in the past, but now I'm not in the mood to tease him, and he's purposely irritating me.

"Hey, get out of there!" I yelled at Slyvester, who was biting his finger, twisting, and turning in front of the TV. It's okay if he does that in his own room, but not in front of me, Kyle and Vincent, who were watching. We all glared at him for being a bother.

“Nothing will happen. Ryan will only meet Terban. That’s all,” Slyvester murmured.

He tried to reassure himself that nothing else would happen and that Terban and Ryan would only talk. He chanted these words like a crazy person.

I heard that Ryan left to meet Terban today. It's been weeks since he’s gone. I think he couldn't accept that Ryan chose Slyvester. I have nothing to be angry about. I'll set aside my evil plan as soon as he returns home. I wonder why Slyvester is reacting so strongly. What will Terban do with Ryan?

'Wait a minute. When Terban came home to complain about my USB, he had a scar on his face. Perhaps, something terrible happened to Slyvester at that time?'

It must be.

"What are you worried about?" Kyle couldn't stand it anymore and asked Slyvester.

Slyvester only sighed as he looked away.

Before Ryan and Slyvester became a couple, she talked to me, Kyle and Terban. That’s why Ryan also needs to speak with Terban, mainly because he was her childhood friend.

‘Slyvester is such an idiot.’

"If you don't trust Ryan, just break up," Vincent advised.

"What did you say? Break up?" Slyvester immediately protested. "Huh! You’re waiting for us to break up so you can have her. Sorry, I could tell what’s on your mind, dude.”

"Then man up," Vincent continued seriously. He took the remote from the side and changed the channel. "Among us, Ryan chose you. So, trust her."

Just now, I think Vincent is...cool.

Vincent is against their relationship, but still, he can say encouraging words to his rival. I also wanted to be cool, so I decided to imitate him.

"Yes," I butted. "Think about it, Slyvester; she chose you out of the five of us."

"You're just repeating what Vincent said," Kyle commented.

"Wait a minute! I am not done yet," I complained. "So, imagine, I confessed to her and tried to seduce her. But she still chose you. You before me? The conversation is over. Period"

The three of them looked at me in surprise. So, I added more explanation.

"What I mean..." I adjusted my seat before continuing. "It's obvious that I have the sexiest appeal among us. Other women will agree I am the best. To give you an example, let’s talk about meat. If we are all meat, you guys are pigs, while I am a premium high-quality beef. I, therefore, conclude that Ryan wasn’t into looks.”

They didn't say a word again. Maybe they were too overwhelmed with the fact.

"I'll admit that we're pretty different," I murmured. "Turban is also blessed with good looks. But if you think Slyvester will choose Terban after Ryan rejected me, that's impossible. Just look at me; all your worries will disappear."

Vincent bowed and picked up the remote control. I thought he would go on and change the channel, but…

“Shall I turn you into a real ground meat?” Vincent asked before he threw the remote right in my face.

“Ahhh! WHY AM I WRONG AGAIN?!”

Third Person's POV

Terban had set a time limit. If the woman didn't arrive within five minutes, Terban would leave. His father had emphasized that it wasn't a blind date, and Terban had the right to refuse. However, Terban felt obligated to show up despite his lack of interest due to a past mistake.

But now, after waiting only 10 minutes, Terban regretted agreeing to come. He disliked it when people didn't arrive on time. If the woman arrived after the five-minute limit, Terban planned to express his dissatisfaction.

Suddenly, a sweet scent filled the air. Terban noticed a woman sitting across from him, breaking her habit of sitting elsewhere. Despite not looking at her face, Terban let out a sigh.

"I hate it when..."

But his sharp tongue retreated when he saw Ryan in front of him.

"You look like you don't know I'm the one you're meeting up with," Ryan said.

Terban had been avoiding her, not wanting to hear words he knew would be painful. But now that she was here, he couldn't leave. He missed her and wanted to see her, despite the pain it caused him.

"Did you ask my father to meet?" Terban asked, suspicious.

"No," Ryan replied. "Your dad asked me to meet because he recognized me as the girl you used to play with at the orphanage. He thought we hadn't met yet, so he arranged this."

"You came even though you knew I would be here?"

"Yes, because I wanted to see you."

Terban clenched his hands under the table.

"Why haven't you come back to the boarding house? Are you still angry about the USB?"

"Don't play dumb, Ryan. You know why."

"That's why I'm here, to talk."

"What's the point? I don't need to hear it."

"Terban," she sighed.

"Forget it. I'm busy, so I'll g..."

"Sorry."

"..."

"Sorry, Terban."

She apologized, and Terban’s body trembled with emotion.

Ryan expressed her gratitude, "You are very important to me."

Terban respectfully bowed, trying to control his breathing.

"Because of the help you gave me when I was a child, I became a positive person. I worked hard and passed the entrance exam. I even agreed to live with other men just to see you. When I finally met you, I was so happy, even though our relationship started a little bit awkward; it was a dream come true to finally reunite with you. Thank you for everything."

There was silence.

"But honestly, I never thought you would feel the same way about me. You only said those things because we made a promise as kids. Terban, you were my first love, my childhood love. But..."

Terban interrupted, his voice desperate, "If I mean so much to you, why did you choose someone else? Why can't you love me? Why not me?"

Ryan had questions about whether she needed to still love the person she loved before and if she should choose him just because they were once together. However, she decided not to voice her thoughts directly to avoid hurting him.

And Instead…

“I fell in love with Slyvester.”

Love is not always rational, and it's okay not to have a detailed explanation for why someone chooses a particular person.

Terban, who could hardly accept that, said, “I’ll tell Dad that we met, but we did not need to hang out often.”

And then, he walked away.

Ryan watched him exit the coffee shop, uneasy about their conversation's ending. She decided to follow him outside. As Terban made his way to the parking lot, Ryan reached out and held his hand, calling out his name.

“T-Terban.”

Terban turned around, causing Ryan to stop abruptly.

Tears streamed down his face, and he nervously bit his lower lip. All Ryan could do was whisper his name again, "Terban."

Terban slowly withdrew his hand from Ryan's grip and pleaded, "Please leave me alone for now." As he walked away, Ryan couldn't help but cry tears of sadness.
