Chapter 66: Chapter 66

Vincent noticed Ryan’s wavering feelings from a long time ago. And he knew that a prideful man like Terban would notice it too.

“Welcome home,” Vincent greeted Slyvester with a smile.

The Grim Reaper standing on the door made Slyvester step backward. There was no escape route as Vincent pulled his ear and dragged him inwardly into the house.

“Ahhh! AHhh! Vincent! Ouch! Wait a minute! I am sorry! Sorry!”

Slyvester shouted in shrieking pain, and the witness around did nothing but enjoy the view. Chaylen sat on the couch while cutting his nails and watching the murder scene that was about to unfold in front of his bare eyes.

“You promised me before that you would never use my motorbike without my consent,” Vincent said sarcastically.

Slyvester pushed him away and held his ear. “I did ask you!”

“Your honor, the defendant was telling the truth,” Chaylen said, “Mr. Slyvester left a note on your forehead. And for a moment, I thought you became an office table. Pfft…!”

Vincent vowed that after killing Slyvester, Chaylen would be the next target.

“Are you ready to die, Slyv?” Vincent threatened Slyvester.

Slyvester would not give up. “It’s full tank! I made sure it’s full!” he negotiated.

“Just tell us where you went. If you have a valid reason, you might survive,” Chaylen commented.

“Shut up. You don’t have the right to decide whether I’ll let this b*stard alive or not,” Vincent warned.

“But aren’t you curious why he suddenly vanished early in the morning?” Chaylen replied.

Slyvester and Vincent looked at each other.

Vincent had a clue where Slyvester went off. And that’s why he felt angrier.

“Is there dinner?” Ryan asked when she entered the boarding house.

They all looked at her and at her new haircut.

“You cut your hair!” Chaylen gasped, running toward Ryan to give her a hug. But Vincent kicked him and he fell back to the ouch.

“Sh*t!” Chaylen took his revenge by kicking Vincent’s knee, but Vincent was faster.

He avoided Chaylen’s attack, and when Vincent noticed that Slyvester was escaping, he pulled him back and gave him a headlock.

“Ack!”

There was a reason why Vincent was a black belter in taekwondo.

“V-Vincent! I can’t breathe!” Slyvester grunted while trying to escape from Vincent’s grip.

Acting apathetic, Vincent stared at Ryan and answered, “There’s dinner.”

“Ahhhh,” Ryan answered. “Where’s Kyle?”

“He’s still not home.”

“Why are you only looking for Kyle? That made me feel so jealous,” Chaylen protested to Ryan.

Jealous.

Vincent scowled after hearing the word. He had to acknowledge that he felt so jealous of Slyvester. To make the matter worse, Slyvester was a long-time friend.

At that precise moment, the door opened and Kyle went in.

Kyle and Ryan looked at each other.

“Kyle. Can we t…”

“Sorry. I am tired right now. Let’s talk next time,” Kyle said before going to his room.

At his odd reaction, the talkative Chaylen shut his lips. Feasibly, Kyle rarely shows his cold attitude, not until today.

The agitated situation didn’t subside when Terban came back home.

He ceased in behind the closing door as he perceived how silent the surrounding was. In the midst of the thick silence, a loud voice broke out.

“Hello, everyone! I came back!”

It was Ryan’s cousin, Segi.

All of them turned their heads at the bothersome cousin, and it took Vincent a little bit too late; he was still choking Slyvester.

When Vincent looked back at Sylvester, he was already turning purple with his eyes rolling upward.

*** **

“What are you doing here, Brother Segi?” Ryan asked her cousin.

“To look over you. Your parents asked me to do this. Remember?” Segi replied.

“I know. But it’s already 7 p.m~ Hello? You have so much free time it’s freaking me out.”

“Thanks to that, I wasn’t bored,” Segi said while waving his index finger left to right. He opened his arms widely and added, “I could not see you before because you were so busy. Where’s my hug?”

Segi thrusted forward to hug Ryan. Thankfully, Vincent and Terban came to the rescue. They pulled Segi’s collar and dragged him backward.

Maybe, Kyle, Slyvester and Chayle would find this weird.

Terban and Vincent were the only guys who knew that Segi and Ryan weren’t blood-related. No more competitors. They wanted to prevent having another competitor. PERIOD.

“What the hell are you doing?” Segi asked the two men.

“It’s late,” Vincent said.

“Go home,” Terban added.

Segi shook their hands off. He hid behind Ryan’s back as if a child complaining to his mom.

“I w-won’t leave! I have to make sure that my cousin is safe against monsters like you!”

“Monsters?” Vincent repeated, “Oh. He’s talking to you, Terban,”

“Pardon?” Terban rebuked. “Among everyone here, I am the only normal person. Let me correct it. I am the only human here.”

“Are you saying that Ryan is a monster?” Chaylen butted in.

“Monsters are cute!” Slyvester said. “Like Pokemon. If I am a monster, I’ll be Charmander.” He looked at Segi and said, “Oh? You look like Jiggylypuff.”

“I am not Jiggylypuff! That was offending!” Segi shouted.

The awkwardness dissipated because of Segi. They don’t want to thank him though. And while everyone was squabbling about nonsensical things, the electric power went off.

“Ohh!” All gasped in surprise.

The surroundings went black, they could not see a thing!
