Chapter 91: Chapter 91
Taylor gets into her car and the driver takes her to the Microsoft headquarter which is the Gate's largest office and according to Nancy, Taylor's personal assistant, the companies had not been handed over to Rory because it was his right, but because he had gotten married to Paris.
The two families had agreed on giving their positions over to their children after marriage, Paris was the only child of Paul Allen and Rory was the only son of Bill and Melinda Gate and the one with the right mind and strategy to run the Gate's company worldwide. Since it was his right after marriage, it would not be taken from him even after he began to squander it away. The only solution that existed was to seek Taylor's helps, who was known for her wisdom to help save companies from bankruptcy and the Gate's company was already deep in bankruptcy and so after four years of talking and advising Rory, Melinda decided to seek help.
Melinda decided to offer Taylor a proposal, save the Gate's company and have an equal share as Rory John Gate in the company. That was an offer Taylor couldn't refuse she knew it wasn't going to be easy as the Gate company wasn't like the other companies she had to use her strategies to save and pull back up, it was larger and bigger and wider in prospect and she knew she had to put more work into this company.
The car pulls up in front of the Microsoft office where the board meeting will begin in few minute times and getting down from her car she makes her way into the building.
"Morning, Ms Snowfall," Nancy greets, walking over to her immediately she enters the building and holding a file in her hand. "The meeting would begin any moment from now."
"Well, Ms Smith, lead the way." She follows her assistant behind as she leads her into the board room where the meeting is scheduled to start.
*
All seats around the board room table are filled with the board members and one the only seat was left unfilled is hers and immediately she enters the men and women seated turn to look at her. Meeting every questioning eye with a smile, she walks to the front seat and standing behind the seat with her hands relax on it.
"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, my name is Taylor Snowfall and I'm-" before she can complete her words, she's rudely interrupted.
"This is not some entertainment bar, this is supposed to be a board meeting, what the hell are you doing here?" asks a displeased voice of a middle-aged man from the left hand side of the room and Taylor turn to look at him, but does not respond to him at least not the way he wants her to.
"If you had let me finish up, maybe then you would have realized who I am, Mr." she reads the name on the tablet set on the table before him. "Mr Martin." she continues, "Melinda Gate offered me a proposal and that's why I'm here today. If you have any question, ask now."
"Where's Mr John Gate?" asks a man with golden-white hair and glasses from the right hand side of the table.
She sighs, knowing this question was meant to come. "Rory could not join us today," she blankly replies, "he's currently unstable and so I would be taking his role until he's better."
"Well, I'm not planning on making business talk with a woman, I believe there are useful at other things than running an empire." Bites outs Mr Chan, an Asian investor bitterly and begins to get up from his seat.
Yeah, she's dealt with people like him in the past years and on her line of work, she knows being disrespected by men who thought women as nothing but cooks, sex dolls and baby-making factories was one of the package deal. She knows the best way to win is not to stoop down to their level but to get over it.
Taylor raises her voice as he's about to walk out of the room, making him halt in his movement. "A man, Mr Chan, has been handling this company for the last four years and now we are so close to the collapse of this empire" she states, quoting his exact words, "and any other day, I'd argue equality of both sexes but that would not be today. Your millions are at stake and if you would want to steps out of this room, please do but know that you are going to lose your investment and money while you wait for a man to take the stand."
He turns to Taylor with a displeased scowl. "And what have you got to offer?"
Taylor smiles brightly, knowing she was getting somewhere with the members on the board. "Well, Mr Chan, if you'd just take a seat, I'd be willing to share my ideas with you."
Reluctantly, he takes his seat and Taylor continues. "With the state the company is in right now, it would be the best choice if we decide to find a new marketing strategy." When she senses no objection whatsoever, she continues, moving to the chart behind her. Pointing to it as she explains further, "The population of the country is 150 million people 1 billion and of the whole world we know there are three classed of people in our society and all over the world. These are the upper class which is 14% of the world population, the middle class which is 32% and the lower class and out of the percentage of people in the, 53% are the lowers classes."
"What are you getting at, Ms Snowfall?" Mr Reed asks with a smirk as he folds his arms and lazily lays his back against the chair. "'Cause I'm getting bored."
"Let's take this illustration shall we?" she takes a marker from the cup on the desk and moves to the illustration chart and draws a curve on it. "Majority of us are economics major and as good analysts we know the normal law of demand which is the law most people go by states that; the higher the price the lower the quantity demanded and the lower the price the higher the quantity demanded and so if an output cost $50 and each family can only afford one what happens when the cost drops to $25, Mr Reed?" She writes it on the board and turn to looks at him with the same smirk he'd thrown her way earlier.
The eye of everyone in the room goes to Jaden Reed seated and he glares at her, gritting his teeth but still forces himself to answer. "Two."
Taylor smiles widely and writes it on the board, "Yes, two."
"Are you asking us to abandon the way the Gate's companies has been run? We've been known for our outstanding excellence ever since the company was established!" A woman in her late fifties with grey hair, reaching her shoulders asks with a British accent.
"That is what we got to do now to save the little which we now have. If the company had always been known for its expensive taste, then we should break it down, make the output more affordable for the low classes to be able to buy at least one and the middle class at least two starting from our computers, laptops and phones down to our cables and wired and cord."
"This is not going to be permanent, but it is necessary if we want to bring the heart of the public back to us." She walks back to the table, placing her hands on them. "So, who's with me?"
*
"Oh my heaven, Ms Snowfall, you should have seen yourself in there! You were like 'if don't have enough balls then kiss my ass' I thought you were someone else." Nancy blabs on and on as they walk out of the room and Taylor was grinning from chin to chin
"You really think they will take my proposal?" she asks, nervous butterflies erupting in her stomach.
Nancy brow rises questionably. "What other choice do they have? Those people invested millions and billion into the company worldwide, hell they kiss your ass to get that back."
Taylor chuckled at how blunt her assistant always is, "Well, that nice to know."
"Are we going to pay the Hilton a visit as you said?" Nancy asks looking up at Taylor from the file in her hand.
"Yes, but there's someone I've got to see before that," she answers back.
"Who?" She curiously asks as Taylor begins to walk away.
She turns to look at her, "An old friend."
She walks over to the elderly woman on the desk and smiling brightly at her she begins to speak, "Good day, Gwen, I want to see Rory."
The older woman seated glances up at her, in a not so friendly manner, "You've got an appointment?"
She shakes her head, a smile coming into her face, "No, my name is Taylor Snowfall, you must have heard of me."
Her eye widens and she gets up before nodding. "Yes I have, good morning, Ms Snowfall, very nice to meet you."
She smiles at the weary lady, "Call me Taylor." she assures her.
"I'll take you to him." She says and Taylor gratefully nods at her. "I must tell you." She began as they get close to his office, "Mr John Gate has his way with women and he has slept with everything that had entered into his office that except the old or male." the woman ramble on as they walk along.
Taylor is a little surprised that she had shared that with her, amazed at nothing specific. As her mind gets lost in thoughts she begins to feel pain and hurt for an unknown reason.
Choosing to shrug it away, she replies, "Things will be different. Thank you, Mrs Johnson."
She walks away and Taylor knocks on the door, and the voice from inside asks, "Who is there?" but instead of answering the deep and bitter voice coming from inside, she opens the door and enters.
When the door opens, Rory's eyes lift from the screen of his laptop to angrily glare at the intruder who hadn't waited for permission from him before entering into his office, but all anger drains from him when he sees who it is. She isn't someone he'd ever refer to as an intruder; she is the only one who has the right to walk into his life and office the way she wanted because she is Taylor Snowfall.
