Chapter 90: Chapter 90
Flashback to a year ago
"Where are you going?" Rory asked; walking into the room and seeing Paris stuffing her bag up with her clothes, her shoes and other things. He was a bit tipsy but not completely drunk and he can still make out a few things.
Paris turns to look at him, "Welcome home, darling, it's three a.m. in the morning." she announced with a sarcastic tone of voice before she returned to arranging her bag, "and I am leaving, I can't stay in this marriage anymore," she zipped up her bag on the bed and turned to him with a pained look. Her eyes were glassy, puffy red from crying so hard and Rory wondered if she even had any sleep, but from what he was seeing it didn't look like she had. He knew she was close to her breaking point, but he couldn't bring himself to the point of care.
She folded her arms across her chest and trying to push her emotions aside, she knew he didn't care about her and after they married he didn't pretend anymore... At least not in private. She didn't think would be one to even care about what he thought of her until she began developing feelings for him months after marriage, but that didn't change him, he hated her and resented their marriage and never failed to remind her that.
She hated to admit it, but he never got over Taylor and she knew he loved her and never got over her. She remembered the last time they both saw her, it was at her mother's funeral and even then she saw how Rory looked at her and it was a way he would never look at her.
"I thought I could survive this, live in the marriage where I'm not loved or cared for, expecting that one day I'd be loved by you. I know now that that's never gonna happen because you can't even bring yourself to forget her." The tears she was trying to conceal rolled down her eyes and she hissed in frustration and irritation, brushing it away.
He'd never cared and for three years he'd completely shut her out but seeing her in so much pain made him know he wasn't the only one in misery. Paris started not caring about him, his needs or anything that had to do with him, but as the years passed by, he noticed she changed for the better which was the opposite of what he had done with his life.
To an extent, he had been selfish and cared about only himself and he had become a man he never thought he would be.
A piece of shit.
"Paris," he began to say as he moved towards her, but she puts her hand out to protest against that.
"Aren't you happy now? 'cause this was always what you wanted, to see me crumble and break, well here you go! Aren't you hap-happy now?" she exploded with her voice breaking in the process.
He knew he didn't want to see her cry, yes he hated the marriage, but he never hated her... Not really.
She pulled her bag down from the bed and picked up a file from the bed and hand it over to him. He glanced at it then back at her with his green eyes furrowing.
"Paris... I..." he started his journey of forming a proper sentence but he was unable to finish and all he could do was ask "Why?"
She dropped the hand holding onto the file and Rory isn't sure if it was because her hand got tired of holding her hand out or furious at his question.
"Because I'm neither blind nor stupid, I know you will never be happy with me and I'm not so wicked to keep you in something you barely even want. I love you, Rory, and after what I've put you through, I know you would not believe me, but I loved you so much and I have for years now. I'm gonna do this for you and I'm giving you your freedom, you deserve to be happy." She whimpered, "Go find the woman you've always loved."
It was taking everything from her for her to say this, but someone had to and Rory wanted to, but he couldn't because he was scared that initiating the divorce would make him vulnerable and in the position of losing everything, but now she was taking the step for the both of them and saving him the stress.
Rory took a step towards her and although she protested against it, he bluntly ignored it. "Paris, I'm sorry for ever making you cry or feel this way." he stopped walking when he was standing in front of her. "I'm sorry that I haven't been the best husband in three years of our marriage." he cupped her face in his hands, "I'm sorry." his lips lowered down on hers and kissed her softly. She kissed back, her arms going around his neck and his going around her waist and pulling her to himself. "I lost Taylor a long time ago, and I'm not counting on any miracle to bring her back, but I'm not gonna make you pay for my mistakes and shortcoming Paris, that would be selfish." She stared at him with her eyes still glassy and nod. "I ruined Taylor's life; I'm not doing that to you too, give me a chance to make it up." and with that he kissed her lips passionately and took her to bed, spending the night with her for the first time in three years.

When he woke up the next morning, he was alone in the bed and after looking around the house and finding no trace of Paris, he came to the desk where he'd kept his phone the night before and under it was a letter and he picked it up and it read;
If you're reading this, then I'm long gone. Last night was amazing and it was the first time in my life I felt loved. I believed it was the first time someone made love to me for me, not for my name or money and I'm going to cherish it for the rest of my day.
You're a good man, Rory, and you've got a good heart, never doubt it. Last night you showed me the man I knew you still were and you proved me right, you're always going to be better than I could ever be.
I know you asked me to give us a chance, but a chance is the last thing we need 'cause every time I look at you, all I see what I took from you; a chance at happiness and now, I plan to give it back.
I have signed the divorce papers; I'm hoping you will do the same so you can be free to be the man you always wanted to be and never let anyone dictate your life from now on.
I'm leaving the country with Joshua and hoping he'd love me forever like you did last night.
Once again I'm sorry for everything I've done to make your life the way it is today and I hope you will forgive me someday.
Goodbye, Rory John Gate, take good care of yourself.
Paris.
Rory was stuck in the living room after reading her last message to him, he couldn't believe Paris was also gone, there was no way those qualities she had seen in him will ever appear on him now.
An hour passes and Rory's phone began ringing, groaning in annoyance, he gets up from the bed and when he answered it, it was Phoebe.
"Hello?"
"Hello, Rory where are you?" asked Phoebe with a weary tone of voice.
"I'm home," he frowned at her worried tone of voice, "why did you ask, what happened this time? And why are you sounding like someone just died?" he was partly annoyed from Paris leaving at the moment he was beginning to developing feelings for her, and also because he hated the feeling he was having in his gut.
"It's Paris, turn on the news." he did as he's told and there on the news was an accident, a plane crash and reading the headline, it read; "Paris Allen dies in a plane crash thirty minutes ago."
Shock took over his annoyance and the phone he held to his ear slipped out of his hand and dropped on the floor and broke into pieces and so has his life ever since.
Flashback ends
Taylor had called for Reign to be enrolled into daycare immediately after they had arrived home yesterday, so she can keep up with her fun learning because she knows that although Reign was young, she always loved going to school and would cry any day she had missed a day. Taylor knows she already deprive her of so many things and she was not going to do that to her learning. She knows this is also better because she'd get time to herself and work now that Keenan is no longer with her to help with Reign.
She'd left him a dozen messages last night, but none was returned. She has to admit, she does miss him more and needed him, but she told herself that it was always meant to happen someday. She couldn't blame him, she knew she couldn't give him the one thing he wanted the most, which was her unconditional love in return. She is going to respect his decisions and wishes and stay off his path for good, it's the least she could do.
So as she puts on the Ruby colour lipstick and put on her high heels she tells herself she has to do everything alone from now on and should better get used to it.
"Mommy!" squeals Reign as she runs to her mother with opened arms and bending down, Taylor welcomes her daughter into her arms. "Good morning, mommy."
"How was your night, darling?" asks Taylor, grinning at Reign.
The girl giggles, "Good, mommy and yours?"
"Good." She twirls Reign long brown hair around her finger. "Are you ready for your first day at daycare?"
The little girl nods and Taylors smile widens. "Let's go then," she says, silently thanking God for the daughter she was given.
After sorting Reign out in her new school, Taylor says her goodbyes to her.
Taylor scoops Reign into her arms and kissing her head she coos, "Wish Momma luck, bambino."
"Good luck, Mommy."
