Chapter 80: Chapter 80
Keenan's POV
"Have you packed your bags baby?" I hear Taylor ask, bending down to cup the cheeks of the adorable baby girl.
She nod and although her green eyes sparkle in scepticism, she asks, "Where are we going mommy?" her voice comes out angelic to my ears as she asks her question.
"Home." She smiles happily at the little girl.
The three years old frowns, looking up at her mother with a puzzled expression. "But mommy, we are in Italy, this is home," she states her argument reasonable.
Taylor grins widely, Reign might be three years, but she has always been smarter than her age with the many questions she asks, "No we are going back to mommy home, where she was born." The girl pauses and stares at her Mom for a moment as if she wants to figure her out then Taylor continues. "Mom wasn't born in Italy you know," Taylor reveals to him.
"Mommy wasn't?" Reign's eyes widen and Taylor almost burst out laughing at how adorable she is.
She shakes her head, "No. Mom misses home so she wanna go home to meet her friends and brothers, your uncles."
"I've got uncles?" The little girl sounds thrilled as well as thrown back with the new reality she's being thrown into.
Taylor nods with eager eyes, "Mom and Dad will explain everything."
"Okay," she replies, her decision to be patient commendable.
"Are we ready?" I say, my voice making them turn towards my direction and Reign runs to me with her arms spread out wide. I bent down and scooping her into my arms, I spin her around, before wrapping my arms around her. It feels just like yesterday she was so small in my hands and now though she's still small in my eyes, I know she's grown a lot.
"Oh baby, you look happy to see me." I squeal as I slow down on my spinning, pulling her away from me to stare into her eyes.
"Yes, Daddy. Mommy says we are going to her home. She says I've got uncles too." She stares into my eyes. "Nobody told me I've got uncles, why?"
I turn to Taylor, clueless to the question my little angel is asking. This all comes as something new to Reign because she had never been told this before. Taylor had never told her about her background family or home. At first, I didn't see anything wrong with that, Taylor was trying to put her past as well as past terrible relationships with Rory in the past and move on, but I knew that at some point it would be best if Reign was told a little about herself and the world that awaits outside Italy.
Taylor and I had argued countless times in the past on the account of this and while I thought Reign deserved to know about her uncles, Taylor decided it was best if she didn't until the time was right. She further backed her argument saying Reign might start asking unnecessary questions and might demand to see them before the time was right. I never knew what time she always talked about and I've never been the best when it came to arguments, at least not when I'm arguing with Taylor. So I gave up and left her to make her own decision, promising to stand and back her up.
"There has always been a reason, Reign, you see they were busy, baby," I say the first thing that seems to cross my mind out and Taylor gives me a ridiculous glance, even I know I sound ridiculous. I feel my cheek heat up, I've never lied to Reign before and it breaks my heart that she is going to believe everything that comes out of my mouth without any questioning.
I have already started the lie, might as well keep to it and complete it. "We didn't want to disturb them, hun. They are studying in school you know like mom was, but now they are almost through so it's okay because we won't be disturbing them by going over to where they are." I tilt her head up to look at me. "Vuoi incontrare i tuoi zii e cugini, giusto? (You want to meet your uncles and cousins right?)" She nods happily and I kiss her on her cheek and drop her down back on her feet. "We'll meet you in the car in a bit honey," I say, sending her running out of the room.
I turn to Taylor who is looking as beautiful as ever, her brown-black long and curly hair let to fall freely and her lips red even with the light lipstick on her full lips, her grey eyes captivating as well as enchanting. Her pink crop top showing a little of her fair skin and her black mini skirt cut above the kneeling to proudly flaunt out her perfect legs, which bare a darker shade because of the Taylor black hose she's wearing and her legs are also three inches black heel. I feel myself longing and I have to hold myself so I don't devour her right here right now.
When I look up at her again, she's is looking anywhere but at me. "That lie wasn't necessary," I say in regret as I cross my arms around myself bringing my brain to the situation around us.
"Then you shouldn't have lied." She snaps out harshly and coldly.
I shake my head. "You told her an incomplete truth, what were you expecting?" I ask, my eyes demanding answers I know she would never give. "This lie could have been avoided if you would have only listened to me years ago and did what was best for r—"
She cuts me off, her eyes stormy and I can tell that she's already getting annoyed. "I'm done with this argument. We both realise that it wasn't the best decision then."
We both? Or did you dismiss mine and shove your decision down my throat?
"If you thought that was the best decision, why didn't you tell her that? Why did she have to run to me?" I demand immediately.
She shoots a glare at me with her eyes, "Because she knows you're the easy one, soft and she can easily manipulate you into doing what she wants." her words hit me like a rocket and I just stare at her and as soon as realises the words that just left her mouth, she covers her mouth.
She's right I'm soft, I've been too soft and easily manipulated not only by Reign but also by her, but how can I not be? When I've been bound to an oath, a promise to never leave or abandon her? How can I be hard when I love her so much that I sometimes hate myself for it?
"Keenan, I'm sorry." She begins to speak up after the moment of silence completely ruling the room. "I didn't mean what I said." she rambles out.
You did.
I smile and shrug. "It's not the first, I'm used to it." I turn away and begin to walk on "We should go if we don't want to miss our flight."
Flashback to four years ago
The car came to a stop in front of one of the Hilton family vacation home in Italy. "We are finally here," I announced as I got down, going over to open the door for Taylor so she can also get down. She glanced at the house and then back at me, slowly biting down on her red lower lips to stop herself from blushing any further.
"We are staying here?" she asked, her voice quiet.
"Yes." The house belonged to the family. It was the closest to Rome International airport where we had landed in. "Prendi i bagagli a Ferdinando e chiama Lucia, dille che Keenan ha casaTake (the bags in Ferdinand and call Lucia, tell her Keenan has home.)" I gave the instructions to the driver and he nodded and went into the house with our bags and I turned again to Taylor who was now fidgeting with the hem of her long sleeve. "If you feel uncomfortable here, we can stay in a hotel until we get you a house."
She shook her head and her smile is small, "No, you don't have to go through that."
I cupped her cheek and made her look at me. "I'd gladly go through anything for you and I hope you believe that."
"There's something you need to know Keenan." She began in a low voice and I frown at the seriousness in her tone.
"Can it wait until we have at least taken a bath and eaten?" I begged, a bit exhausted for anything that wouldn't ease me. She silently gave me a wary eye and I almost bit my tongue and became interested. "What is it then?"
"I'm pregnant."
I stared at her closely for a moment, trying to see if she's actually just pulling my legs or saying the truth, but those blue eyes that looked like they were about to tear up any moment from now, didn't look like they were joking or pulling my legs and my eyes go down to settle on her tummy then back to her and she was then looking anywhere but at me and I could see her blue were turning glassy and sad.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you soon, I was scared you wouldn't —" she choked on the words she was about to say and I found her struggling.
"Wouldn't want to bring you along because you're carrying Rory's child." She nodded in admission and a tear slid down her face, but I wipe it off before she can. "Hun, I thought you knew me better than that." I tilted her chin so she looked up at me.
"I'm sorry," She whimpered weakly. "It's just that with everything that has been happening I thought... That-" she still was unable to say the words and I wished she would stop trying because I understood what she was trying to say.
"Shh." I placed my finger on her red lip and she looks up at me. "It's okay, Taylor, and it's going to be okay and I'm gonna stand by you."
She hugged me and sobbed into my shirt. She told me she didn't tell Rory about the baby and told me what had happened when she went over there to see him and tell give him the news. As much as I was mad at Rory, I knew he was and will always be weak when it came to revenge or getting back at people. Rory was hurt and broken and I more than anyone knew and understood that. He was acting out of pain and I couldn't judge him and neither could I ignore Taylor, she just happened to be the victim in all of this mess.
