Chapter 124: Chapter 124
Rory chose an old Gate's mansion in Scotland for our honeymoon. He had concealed the place we were supposed to have our honeymoon from me and only revealed it on the plane to Scotland a week later.
I was surprised, curious and excited about our trip like a little girl because I had only been able to travel to a few places I wanted to. Places like China, France, Nigeria, and Australia and all those trip were on official bases with Keenan. I had never been able to come to Scotland since. Those feelings however were nothing compared to the ones I developed when I saw our cottage on arrival at our destination.
The old mansion was magnificent and I couldn't help feeling giddy as we got down from the car. It felt like a fairy tale came alive.
"Mrs Gate, we've reached our destination," Rory announces in a Scottish accent as if he were my guard and he gives me his hand.
I decided to play along, "Oh, thank you," I blush and accept his hand and he takes it and leads me inside.
Inside is another wonder, and I wonder if it's just its architectural design or if the mansion was once a palace because it looked beyond amazing and I couldn't stop gawking at it. Two maids dressed in blue and white uniform help us bring our bags in while Rory takes his time to shows me the rest of the mansion.
"You didn't tell me we were going to spend our honeymoon in a palace," I whisper as I cling to Rory's arm while we walk.
He grins widely, "I prefer castle, but palace is just perfect."
"It really is," I nod in agreement, "you did a great job in surprising me."
"Well, it has been in the family for as long as I can remember. Dad told me he brought mom here for their honeymoon, and I still remember Mom and dad would always bring us here on holidays when we were younger. I kind of fell in love with Scotland because of it and from then I knew that it would be a perfect place to bring my bride for our honeymoon."
His confession makes my heart melt, but that happy moment does not last because my mind wanders off into a place that I don't think it should go. The union of Rory and Paris happened four years ago.
"Did you bring Paris then?" I blurt out immediately because although I'm now his wife, Paris was his first wife, but I regret it instantly when he immediately grow cold.
From everything Rory had told me about his marriage to Paris, it wasn't a happy one and coming here is done out of love and happiness which didn't exist with them even they played it that way in public at first.
He shakes his head even as it drops slowly in sadness. "We didn't have that type of relationship as husband and wife, I barely even noticed she existed, unless the few times we stepped out in public. She wasn't perfect and I was a horrible husband and she couldn't take the marriage anymore. I do think if I treated her a little better than I did she wouldn't have run away and ended up dying. The guilt has kept me down for months."
"You are not to blame for it, you were in pain and your life wasn't going the way you planned, anyone would do the same. The both of you were bad for each other and you were both miserable and she chose to give you your freedom and chase hers. In the end, Paris wanted your happiness in everything." I place a comforting hand on his shoulder.
He nods, "I thought I was gone, I thought God was finally paying me for all my sins and shortcomings, I was getting tired of it all and I sure would have ended it too and if you hadn't shown up in my office when you did," He stops walking and looks into my eyes, "you may be my nightmare, but you also are my saving grace."
I beam at him, "And you are mine." I say as I tiptoe to place a kiss on his cheek.
His arms wrap around my waist almost immediately and he hauls me closer before claiming my lips in his.
A part of me knew he was going to do that, Rory has stated his dislike for the kiss on the cheek and after everything we've been through these past few days of the wedding, I knew he wouldn't just let me kiss him on the cheek and get away with it.
I smile into the kiss before pulling away, "If you start tongue kissing me now, we might not finish the tour."
His mouth twitches as he gets a little lost in thought, "Good 'cause the wait has been exhausting!"
I nudge his arm with mine, "It was worth it, we were able to finish up our assignments and we can stay here for a month and won't be bothered. That wouldn't have been possible if we had allowed our libido push us into leaving immediately after the wedding."
"Just one month?" Rory gasps in disbelief and I wiggle my brow at him. "I thought we were going to get like a year break!"
I smack his arm hard and he dramatically groans out from the pain, "You should be grateful it isn't a week honeymoon."
He pulls me into his arms, our bodies touching against each other, "I am, I just want to spend forever with you, is it bad?" He sadly pouts.
"You will always have me, Rory John Gate, always and forever."
"Then we should begin our forever now." He says, sweeping me into his arms and carrying me into the rooms.
The night was endless as we sank into the ocean of love more than we thought was possible. Rory wanted to show me himself completely and I allowed him because although I have seen him all before, I haven't really seen the new him, never gave myself the chance to experience since I came back.
I allowed him to love me, I allowed him to take care of me, I allowed myself to feel the love, feel the care, feel each touch feel alive.
As I stare into his eyes I knew he was mine even as he claimed me, he made me realise that I was his forever.
And it didn't sound bad at all.
