Chapter 55: Chapter 55
Gwenn pov
The speed which I used to get ready was something which I was not sure was humane therefore, letting Orel see it but he didn’t make a comment. Not like I would welcome it, I had to see Arius and that was the only thing that was in my mind.
Along with other thoughts which just flashed through but did not take the whole of my attention. Thoughts like what might have happened to Gwenn, and why since she just chose to leave just the other night here. There was no reason for her death and it felt really strange.
“Do you want to see where they dropped Gwenn first?” Orel asked me as I ushered the two of us out of my room quickly so I can lo k the door behind him.
“No, I want to see my husband.” I replied and loved towards the throne room where Arius would be in and if he is not there then he would be in his office which was close to the throne room. As I made a move past Orel, Orel gripped my hand.
When I tilted my face in question to Orel, he answered. “People are watching you and more than a quarter of those people are suspecting you. You hearing such a news, the first thing you ought to do is check if it is true and show empathy and after that, you check on your husband.”
I gave a paused after Orel finished talking as I thought about it. Me running to check if Arius was fine was wrong on a lot of stages. What I needed to do was act like a queen and check on my citizen who lost her life before going to comfort my king, after all he is not running away.
“Show me the way.” I tell Orel.
“Good choice.” Orel replied as he led me to a part of the Palace I had never been in, I really need to understand these many hallways and know everything because it was not good that the queen, did not know her around her own home.
When some of the warriors standing as guards saw me, they bowed and murmured my title before flinging the doors opened and letting me come in. I entered to see Faye dressed and cleaned even though there was some scrapes on her skin that shows that she had fought with her attacker.
“What are you able to deduce happened to her?” I asked the Nisse who was there, cleaning Faye up and arranging her in ways which seemed to make her more alive, as if she was just sleeping and not dead. Looking directly at Faye’s body I still found it hard to believe she was dead.
“She was walking somewhere in the Palace when she was knocked into the wall, that shows the bruised by her waist. She knew the person that much was certain because she didn’t scream for help. Lady Faye thought she must have been safe until she started struggling with the person and the person hit her head on the wall multiple times as her skull caved in and while this was going on, her hands were clawing at the person hence reason for the flesh on her nails. After she lost consciousness, the person raped her.”
That was when I stumbled. “Come again?” I asked the Nisse. “She was what?” I added.
“Raped, roughly and I am not sure that she was still alive while that happened, you see she was torn from the inside and she was bleeding heavily from there.” The Nisse explained, still lacking emotion. I could see why she was delegated to be working here but instead of her voice making me feel detached about what was happening, all I felt was like I was watching it happen with her descriptions.
I couldn’t help myself but to turn around and retched the little to nothing contents which was still in my stomach.
“Alal.” The Nisse said as she rang a bell or something as people rushed in but Orel was already beside me, he had stood waiting by the door so that he could give me some space as I assimilated everything which was happening.
“Are you okay?” Orel asked as I nodded while tears fell from my eyes.
They were not falling because I couldn’t keep the contents of my stomach but because of how violent Faye died when I was sure that she didn’t do anything to hurt the person responsible for her death.
“I will be.” I said with a gruff voice and when I stood up, I glanced at Faye once before I focused all my attention on the Nisse.
“As anybody gone to tell her people yet?” I asked and when the Nisse shook her head I continued. “Someone should go and get her people and they will do the burial here afterwards, her ashes will be spilt in two, one part will be for her people at home and the other part will be to be placed in the resting place of the royals long gone.” I said as murmurs arose.
“No matter what anybody say, Lady Faye was a concubine, someone who was pregnant with the king’s baby, whose child would have been the first born child of King Arius, she deserves all the respect she can get.” I added as the murmurs reduced.
“Now that we are done here, Orel lets go.” I nodded as Oreland me walked out, with some people already making a move to clean the mess which I made in the room.
When we left the room, Orel took me to a garden and gave me the cup of water which was being passed to me while I was there but I had refused and it was with the water, I washed my mouth while tears dropped down from my face, all through it all.
“I am sorry that you had to see that.” Orel said quietly but I gave him a sad smile.
“It wasn’t your fault. I need to be a queen.” I answered as I stood up and after taking a deep breathe, I looked at Orel. “Let’s go see the king.”
