Chapter 42: Chapter 42
“Hey Gwenn.” Faye marched up to me as I was in the courtyard, working on my extra energy, hoping to tire myself out before Orel comes and that this feeling of sadness would be gone by then. I knew that if Orel continued to see me sad, his relationship with his wife was going to suffer, afterall Themis was the person who made a deal with Arius about the marriage.
Themis had promised me that it was the right course of action for me but the problem was that, even months later, after the war, it was not still seen. Was her vision wrong for the first time since forever? I wouldn’t even blame her for it. Something about me always make this kind of stuff to happen.
Maybe this was the best possible way for me to be less miserable but Themis saw it as happiness. Afterall my mother could not be wrong. When she told me how women in our family were never happy in life, she had stories of our ancestors, dating a long way back to prove her point. I should have never believed Themis words of hope.
“I am talking to you.” Faye said as she gripped my hand back just as my whip snapped back.
Her hold on me jerked my consciousness to my environment. I glanced at the hand that was on my arm and raised my head to look at Faye with an incredulous look on my face.
Who was she to think she could touch me?
“When I talk to you pay attention.” She hissed at me.
“You have five seconds to let go of my hand before I push you off me.” I returned and she let go of my hand quickly.
“You don’t have to act like I did it just because I wanted to touch you.” Her nose wrinkled in disgust that somehow didn’t fit her perfect frame.
Faye was still somehow as pretty as she has always been which was annoying since she was pregnant. Her pregnancy even made her beauty even more pronounced than usual.
“It’s not like you are anything special just a foreigner who was in the right place at the wrong time.”
I knew she was goading me into something but my temper still flared, my hands still tightened on my whip but it was a glance to her stomach that made me let go of my anger. After all I didn’t want Faye to lose her child and as long as the child was within Faye, she was safe from my wrath until she goes too far.
“Of course.” I answered her and got a tiny bit of pleasure from seeing confusion on her face when she realized that I agreed with her. “I was totally not supposed to be here. I wish I wasn’t.” I added and then turned away from her.
“Oh no, you don’t get to escape that easily.” Faye snapped as she walked quickly to my front to block my view of my target again.
“I am going to assume that you still hate me the way I hate you but the reason why you are blocking my view is because you have something to say. Get on with saying it already so that we won’t have to stomach each other presence.” I sighed as I waited for Faye to talk.
“You should stay away from Arius.” She started and usually, I would provide her a sarcastic answer or the truthful one of how he was the one who didn’t want to stay away from me. In fact, in the mood I was in, I was prepared to beg her to keep him away from him and I would have done so if the tone she used to place her request did not rub me the wrong way.
She ordered me to stay away from my husband like she owns him and that was what made me angry, if there was anybody among the two of us who own Arius, it was me since I was his wife. She was the interloper and she called me by my name. It seemed like she was forgetting that I am the queen and she is nothing but a dirty little secret.
“I should huh?” I answered as I shifted back and widened my stance. “By all means, tell me why you think you have the right to order me to do something which I don’t want to do and what made you think you have power over me.”
“Because he is mine. You unconsciously shared it. He is mine and the position of the Queen is yours. Let’s not overstep into each other role. You should never enter his bedroom again, you will regret it the day you chose to enter there.” Faye answered still absent of the kind of trouble her mouth is putting her in.
“Leave my presence and I am willing to forget this conversation ever happened and not for your sake but the sake of your child because if you don’t leave now and you say one more word. Just one more word to annoy me, I will retaliate.” I gritted out.
Faye’s eyes showed her fear even though she stood her ground and raised her chin at me. “I am not going anywhere, deal with it.”
And with those words, I felt the lid on my anger break. I flung my whip back about to direct it to her when I couldn’t breathe.
I looked around me to see three council members sitting and possibly waiting for this moment.
When I realized that I could not breathe, that was when I knew that they wanted to kill. I clutch at my throat as I watch them. Their smiles increase.
“Death for threatening the mother of the future king.” One of them said and this time, I really snapped.
I could feel energy rushing through my veins as I started labored breathing.
“She is breathing.” One of them noticed me at once, they doubled down their power on me making me suffocated and unable to breathe.
Immediately I felt that rush of energy again and I could breathe once more and that was when I saw red, I snapped my whip around one of them neck before I used the whip to drag the person closer to me. With lightning speed, I repeated the same process twice. Then my whips glowed golden and I used it on them while shutting my mouth, they wanted death. Death they will have.
