Gwenn

I entered the hall for dinning and saw Arius relax only for Adela to run in after me and hissed at the passageway.

“Will you shut it? If there is anybody that should be here, it is you. You should be outside.” Sorens snaps as Adela, who stood facing him while flicking her tail. Arius relaxed state turned agitated but I dint pay him any mind, I already told him, if he didn’t want Adela near his future child, he should remove Faye from my path and she was at the table.

“You two bicker too much.” I said as I used my hand to run Adela as I passed her to my seat while she waited for Sorens. A closeness I appreciated although it was not easy at the original stage.

They might have a game of cat and mouse going on but they were extremely close.

“Is the cat going to eat with us?” Catia asked alarmed.

“Mngwa.” I corrected and she paled even more. “Adela likes it when she is addressed properly and besides nobody should make the mistake of thinking she doesn’t understand what is going on around her.” I cautioned as I sat and waved at Silana who was cooing for Adela to come to her but Adela saw she was sitting close to Arius, hissed at Arius before following Sorens and sitting between me and him.

“Good evening My Lady.” Soren greeted with a bow of his head.

“Lady?” Arius asked.

“That is what I call her.” Sorens shrugged before he started eating.

“Mannerless! He didn’t even wait for the rest of us even though we were waiting.” Vala wrinkled her nose in disgust as I glared at her.

“Vala, we know that you people certainly didn’t wait for us to come before you start eating, why will I wait for whoever you are waiting for?” I asked her in return but she didn’t reply.

“Sorry that I am late.” Faye said as she sat close to Vala, I was upset at her appearance but there was nothing I could do. She was glowing, what they said about a woman with a pregnancy glow was true, I experienced it with Themis and I am experiencing it with Faye too. One I was very happy about, the other not so much.

“I waited for your Gwenn.” Silana said as I smiled to her and raised my cup in toast.

“When I wanted to take a drink, Soren laid his hand on mine and shook his head.

“In front of our king and you are doing that with his wife.” Kastav said silently. “My queen, there are a lot of things which would not be condone and this is one of them. You and the king might not be in good terms but that does not mean that you will flaunt whatever is going on with you and your lover outside.”

I couldn’t help myself but play with Kastav a little. “But we are not outside, we are inside.” I pouted as Silana laughed.

“Whose side as you on?” Vastae growled at Silana.

“Definitely Gwenn.” Silana replied. “Don’t worry, you will learn later on that most of us here are on her side.”

“Do you think that Gwenn might be poisoned?” Arius asked and the table went silent at his words.

“No.” Sorens replied. “If I think that My lady is in danger, I would remove her from here and drink from the goblet myself.” Soren answered.

“Then why not let her drink?” Arius asked again.

“Because it would not be the right thing for her to do.” Sorens answered.

I decided to tone out Arius mini interrogation to eat, it was not like Sorens could not handle himself. I was eating when I heard the first whispered insult.

Whore.

I continued eating, choosing to ignore everything until I had not choice until this time, it was shout that resonated in my head. And apparently every other person’s head.

“Slut!” a voice screamed and this time I could identify it. It was Faye.

“What? Faye how did you do that?” Arius asked as Faye eyes widened when she realized her mistakes and that everybody practically heard her.

“It wasn’t me?” She said, shaking her head.

“It was your voice Faye.” I answered as I stood up.

Arius turned to me. “Gwenn, she is pregnant.”

“I know, I don’t let others get away with something which they never should do at first.”

“The use your words and nothing else.” Arius stood up as he went closer to Faye.

I tilted my head to the side. “Are you protecting her right now?”

“I am protecting my Child. Faye has always been out of control, I don’t want to lose him.” Arius answered.

“A boy?” I asked.

“We confirmed it yesterday.” Faye crowed.

My face turned to her. “You disrespect me, you deserve to be punished but for the sake of your child, I will not do anything of sort.” I replied as she rolled her eyes.

“If you want to do anything for my child, get out of your position.” Faye added as Arius gritted his teeth but he didn’t say anything.

I know because I was looking at him to see his reaction.

“I wish I can too.” I answered Faye with a sad smile. “I just hope Themis is on her way and she will get here quicker. I hope she comes with my brother so they will remove me from this duty. I wish so many thing. You want the crown, I wish I can give it to you.”

Arius staggered back to his seat but I turned and left the hall with Adela walked behind me while Sorens trailing behind us. I wish I was with him instead.

This was not the first time, I was wishing something like this but this was the last time I knew I was going to voice anything out. If Themis comes and she can free me from this, no problem, if she can’s well I better embrace my position with everything in me.

I started that night, when I went to Arius again and this time, when he was done. I didn’t shed any tear. All I felt within was lifeless.
