Chapter 18: Chapter 18
Arius
I cannot believe that Gwenn was that free with Sorens who is just her second in command and she didn’t even notice that he was looking at her like she hung the stars and moon.
I was not okay with Sorens being close to Gwenn at all. I needed to talk to him about this little crush of his that he is nursing for my wife. My. Wife!
Someone who will never be his, he knew of this fact before I sent him off with her. Was I wrong to tell him to keep a close look on her?
And to think she slapped me because of him!
I know that I was a little out of line but Gwenn always brings out that part in me, I was just stating my interest. I don’t want the whole of Northshore to doubt my son’s parentage.
Gwenn will never win in a war against me and if it was a war that she was looking for, a war she will get. It was time I make good the terms she agreed to about making heirs. That will guarantee that she does not do anything with Sorens.
I can’t believe that I want to use children to hold my wife to me, I am the king, I should not be fighting for a woman. She is already mine and she would remain that way too.
“Your majesty.” Faye called softly. She was the one who told me that my wife was in the embrace of another man and although I didn’t want to believe her, I was glad I did.
“What?” I snapped at her.
She jumped in shock at my harsh tone but I ignored her reaction and fixed her with an impatient glare that told her to clearly state what she wants to say and be done with it.
She licked her lips nervously as she peered up at me. “I know that I should not be bring this up but I am sorry My King, I really am sorry this time, the reason I saw The Queen with another man was because I was looking for her so that I can apologize for my actions and beg her for her forgiveness. I don’t want to be at odds with her and I don’t want to be at odds with you.” Faye said softly as she smoothed her hand down my chest.
“Please forgive me my King, I will never do anything wrong to her again, she will never see me or anything that relates to my presence. I will do my best to ensure that she will not be bothered by me, I don’t want to lose you over my foolishness.” Faye added as she wrapped her arms around my neck and went on her tiptoes so she could plant kisses all over my neck which was exposed.
If she had tried this before Gwenn came back or before challenging Gwenn in front of my siblings, I would have believed her or even continued to but no, not anymore.
“Faye!” I called as I pry her hands away from my neck, holding it in my hands as I looked at her directly in the eyes.
“Whatever we had is over, this will be the last time you ever try a stupid stunt like this because if you do try this next time, I will make sure that you get to regret a lot of things. Don’t get on my nerves anymore girl.” With those words, I shoved her away from myself.
She fell on the floor, tears streaming down her cheeks. “My king, please don’t do this to me, don’t do this to us.” She cried.
“There is no us.” I yelled at her.
“I wasn’t referring to me and you, I was referring to me and your unborn.” Faye screamed at me.
I felt my world froze as the air in my lungs grew cold. No this cannot be happening. This is a nightmare or a lie.
She is not supposed to get pregnant, what was I going to tell Gwenn. This child will ruin whatever chance I have with Gwenn and I didn’t have much to begin with before.
“You said you were taking care of that aspect.” I yelled.
“I thought, I was. I really did. It was confirmed the day the queen returned. My king, please, don’t do this to us.”
“There is no us.” I tell her a resolve already taking place in my head.
“But me and your…” Faye started confused.
“There is nothing of mine that is with you.” I tell her with an angry hiss as she froze, noticing that the mood I was in was a very dark one, one which I would not think twice before unleashing on her.
“You better remove that child from your stomach, I don’t want it, I don’t need it. You hear me!”
“My king, you are asking me to…” Faye said, her tears stop running.
“To take care of it, no other person should be aware of this.” I answered her.
Faye stood up with fury in her eyes. “You will regret your statement.”
I looked at Faye with my head tilted. Did she just try to threaten me?
“You know that I can make you lose this thing in your stomach right now, right here right?” I asked her as her eyes went wide.
I turned my hand into shadow as I assessed it. All I had to do was to thrust my hand into her stomach and kill the child.
Faye scrambled away from me begging me…
“Remove the child through less painful means or this will be your only option.” I said as I turned my back and walked back to my chair while my back was turned she stood up and ran out of the room as fast as her legs could carry her.
Getting to my seat, I sat down with my head in my hands. What was I doing? Why did I have to make things difficult for myself in the long run? If I had just stayed away from Faye after Gwenn first visit, I would not be in this mess right now.

Gwenn POV
I started running from the King’s hall but I didn’t stop running until I got to the other side of the palace where the princes stayed. I needed protection, I was wrong to discard their offer the way I did yesterday, I thought the news if my child will bring the king back to me but he just showed me that he was never mine. The children of the king are never killed, it doesn’t matter if their mother is not right in the head.
All for his foreign bride, the king wants to break tradition, my child if he is a boy should be the next king but the father doesn’t want him.
I needed help and protection. I was not killing my child or letting anything do that to it.
I clashed into Catia as she came out of Prince Kastav room.
“Woah, where is the fire?” She chuckled.
“Help me, please.” I begged her as I started shaking all over. Catia stared at me in shock before she opened the door she had just closed and pulled me inside.
“What is going on here?” Kastav pulled his shirt over his head back, he had just about removed it when Catia pulled me into the room.
“She is shaking Kastav.”
“And crying. What happened?” He ordered.
“The king…”
“What happened?” Catia and Kastav looked at each other.
“He threatened to kill his child.”
“He doesn’t have a ch…” Catia started with a frown but Kastav gasped.
“You are pregnant?” He asked.
I nodded my head as I knelt in front of him.
“I don’t want to be a concubine or the queen, I thought he would accept me but instead he threatened the life of me and my child. Protect me please.” I begged Kastav. “Help me protect my child.”
Kastav lifted me up before he hugged me.
“You being pregnant already means you are part of the family, don’t worry Faye, you are under my protection now.” Kastav shushed me as he smiled.
“Welcome to the family, Faye.”
