Chapter 88: Chapter 88

Chapter 88

Confession

The rain was pouring down and the breeze was cold. Pershey is in her room and she is getting dressed. She was going somewhere now because her conversation with Caleb did not continue.

She left her room and went to her Mommy Yuna's room to say goodbye. Their parents returned to the States with Bria the next day after the pageant.

She knocked on the door. The door was closed, so she knocked first. Her mother immediately opened the door for her and immediately greeted her with a kiss and a hug.

"Good morning," she said.

"I would just say goodbye," she said.

"It's raining, Shey. You may get sick when you leave today.”

“No, Mommy. I will use the car since I already have a driver's license. ”

"All right, but be careful, okay?"

She nodded and smiled. Before she left, she kissed her mother's forehead.

"I'm leaving." Her mother nodded. She turned and walked away.

She stopped outside because the rain was too heavy. She opened the umbrella to be her shelter so that she would not get wet by the rain. She walked fast until she reached the opposite side of the car. She immediately went inside.

She did not start the car first. She had both hands on the steering wheel.

A few minutes later, she was driving. While on the trip, she was obsessed with what happened last night when they were trapped inside the library that they were just the two of them. What Neil had said in those moments was etched in her mind that troubled her mind. She just shook her head, so that those things would disappear from her mind and she could focus on her driving.

In a few minutes, she reached the place where she and Caleb had talked. She picked up the umbrella first before getting out of the car. She immediately opened it. She stopped and looked at the place. She remembers where Caleb and her used to go when they were kids.

“Sweet cupcakes shop,” she said. She walked over and entered the shop. She was new to the place because she had just entered that shop again. A lot has changed in the area. The place is even wider and more beautiful. Even when it rains, there are many costumers. Cupcakes still sell better especially when it rains. It's better to eat cupcakes when it's raining, especially if you eat with your loved ones.

She was still standing and her eyes were searching for Caleb. From the side, she noticed Caleb waving. She left the umbrella outside the shop.

She approached.

"I thought you would never show up again," he said. She barely laughed at what Caleb said.

She sat down before answering, saying, "I'm really going last night," she insisted before placing the bag on the table. "If only I hadn't really been trapped—" she stopped because of what she said suddenly. She didn't think those words would come out of her mouth.

Caleb's forehead furrowed slightly. Surprised he asked, “Are you trapped?”

Pershey immediately thought of a possible excuse for what she had said. She shouldn't have said that because it might just be what Caleb thought.

"I mean ..." She tried to think immediately of an excuse but she couldn't think of anything to say.

“Were you trapped last night? You? Who was with you when you were trapped? ” those were his series of questions.

“I was trapped with my classmate last night inside the library. I slept in the deluxe room and then she was busy reading last night, so we both didn't realize that the door was locked,” she explained. He might think differently when she says Neil was with her all night at the library.

"Why didn't you tell me last night, so I could have gone to the library?"

“There is no signal inside. I tried my best to contact you last night but there was really no signal inside the library,” she explained again.

“It’s okay. Let's just eat? ”

She nodded. He had already called the waiter to give them the menu. There are many cupcakes to choose from.

"I want coffee caramel."

"Noted, Ma'am."

The waitress left with the menu. They just kept quiet while waiting for their orders to arrive.

"Shey," Caleb called, so she looked at him.

"Yes, Caleb?"

"I have something to tell you."

"Go on."

He was about to speak when their orders arrived. There are two types of cupcakes. As she said coffee caramel was indeed what was given to her.

She grabbed the coffee and slowly sipped coffee to warm her cold stomach.

"Hmm, tasty."

"I missed this place," Caleb said before sipping coffee.

Pershey first wiped her mouth with a tissue, she said, “We haven't been here for 8 years. A lot has changed in this area unlike before when we were kids. ”

"Yes."

"Shey," he called softly as he looked deeply at Pershey.

Her face was clear. She sipped coffee regularly, probably because of the cold weather, so she needed coffee to warm her stomach.

"Yes?"

"If I told you I was still Caleb, would you believe me?"

She was confused by what Caleb had said. She could not understand what he wanted to convey.

“Huh? I can't understand you,” she said confused.

“I mean I’m still the Caleb you used to know. I'm still Caleb who still wants you,” he explained, so Pershey couldn't speak. Her mind went blank because of what she had heard. She knew that and her mind became clearer.

But, she also knew in herself that she didn’t know how to bring back her feelings for Caleb. They were just kids then and a lot has changed in 8 years.

“You know, don’t you? Maybe you'll pay attention, Shey.”

Her tongue is knotted and she is unable to speak, so she just nods in response to what he says.

"That still hasn't changed, Shey."

She was still silent because she didn’t know how to tell those things in her chest. She thought she would hurt Caleb when she said what was in her chest, but she didn’t want Caleb to rely on nothing.

"I want you, Shey, from then until now."

"C-c-caleb," she stammered. Now, it was clear in her mind that she was still what Caleb wanted. True to Caleb. He still intends to keep the promises he and Pershey had made before.

"I want to keep our promises to each other, Shey."

"C-caleb ..."

“I can wait. I will wait for you no matter how long because I love you from then until now.”

"C-c-caleb ..."

"I want to keep everything we promised each other, we will keep it."

"Caleb ..."

He still intended to speak but when he looked into Pershey's eyes, he could no longer speak. Pershey's eyes indicate otherwise.

“A lot has changed, Caleb. In 8 years, a lot has changed in our lives. We were kids at those times. ”

“I will wait for you to be ready. I'm just here, I can't be impatient and I won't force you to like me again like before. ”

"I don't know if I can keep my promises to you before."

Caleb felt strange. He felt like something had suddenly pierced his heart but he hid it and just smiled.

"I'll wait for you no matter how long," he said and the smile widened on his lips despite the pain and agony his heart felt.

"I don't want you to rely on nothing, Caleb."

He tried to smile even bitterly, so that Pershey would not feel that his heart was hurting.

"I will wait. I can wait again, Shey,” he insisted. The smile was still on his lips even though he felt the pain of his heart.

“I don't want to hurt you later. I don't want you to wait for nothing.”

"If I get hurt, at least I know in myself that I did everything."

“Caleb ... you will only get hurt. I don't want to hurt other people's feelings, you know that. ”

“Don’t worry about my feelings, Shey. I can handle myself. If I get hurt later, you won't see me cry. ”

“But I don’t want to hurt you, Caleb. I am more comfortable that you are my friend. ”

“Isn't it really possible? Even if I get hurt, I'm fine. ”

“Caleb, you're too good to be hurt because of me. I prefer that we be friends. I'm more comfortable with that. ”

“It’s okay, Shey. Maybe this isn’t the right time for the two of us yet. I will still wait until the day comes when you love me too. ”

"Thankyou."

They both smiled as they looked at each other. The smile obscures the bitter feelings of Caleb's heart. Pershey knew how he felt, so she stroked his cheek while smiling and looking into his eyes.

He held Pershey's palm that touched his cheek as he smiled. Somehow, the pain he felt in his chest subsided.

He understands Pershey. He thought it wasn’t yet the right time for the two of them. Maybe so far they haven’t set up for each other.

Even though it hurts now, he has to put up with how he feels. He knew that the bait he felt would be replaced by happiness.

"I am always here for you, Shey," he said softly even though his heart was bleeding from Pershey's rejection of him.

"And I am here for you too," she replied. "Let's eat?"

As she said, they just ate first while talking. Caleb mentioned his life in Canada. Pershey also recounted the journey of her life before she ventured into the modeling industry.
