Chapter 40: Chapter 40
Chapter 40
Pershey's eyes were closed. Samuel blindfolded her while they were in the elevator.
He was able to support Pershey as he walked.
"W-where are you taking me?" she asked as she took a slow step.
Samuel supports her well until they are faithful to a long table full of various kinds of food. There were also candles lit.
He removed the blindfold from Pershey's eyes. She was still able to close her eyes even after the blindfold had been removed from her eyes.
"Open your eyes," Samuel commanded softly. She slowly opened her eyes. She turned around, then ahe looked up at the sky. The sky was full of brilliant stars. Clouds cover the moon.
She smiled as she looked at the stars. She is still counting them.
"Counting stars?" Samuel asked so Pershey looked at him. She nodded in response.
She looked back at the stars scattered in the sky. A sweet smile drew on her lips once she said, "The sky is beautiful."
Samuel stepped closer to her. He stopped behind Pershey and brought his face close to Pershey's ear.
"You're even more beautiful than the stars," he said softly and softly. Pershey looked away in shock. There was only a few gaps between their faces. She narrowed her eyes as ahe stared into Samuel's eyes while Samuel who was also looking at her and smiled.
She smiled then walked ahead. She sat down. They are on opposite ends.
They were on the rooftop of Samuel's house. On the rooftop, there is a large swimming pool. The surroundings are bright from the attached lights.
Samuel stood for a moment, he took the wine, approached Pershey, and poured the wine into the wine glass.
Pershey watched the wine drip into the glass. Covering the lid with wine, she said, "I don't drink wine."
"Umm ... is that so?" Pershey nodded in response with a mixed smile on her lips. "Do you want juice - ah! I know what you want," he said. He first lowered his wine and then walked away. He walked to the right and stopped at the wall. On that wall, there are numbers from 0 to 9 and below those there are written OK and CLEAR. There is a small red light flickering on the upper part.
Pershey's gaze followed him.
"What is he doing?" she asked herself as she watched what Samuel was doing and why is he facing the wall. She was little confused by what he was doing.
He hit number five. Those numbers he put together, subtracted, divided and reassembled.
When he pressed OK, a virtual door opened. He stepped sideways and a refrigerator advanced from inside the wall.
He looked at Pershey first and smiled. Pershey just stared at him and unable to understand what he was doing.
He approached the refrigerator. Above it from the left end, there are numbers from 0-9 and the word OK. He pressed five numbers then pressed OK. The refrigerator, which was still smoking in the cold, opened automatically.
The inside of the refrigerator is full of a variety of food and wine. There were fruits, chocolates, juices, canned foods and so on but of all of them, he took only one, avocado fruit shake. When he grabbed a glass of avocado fruit shake, the refrigerator automatically shut down. Samuel went back to the other side and pressed the five numbers he had pressed against him again. After he dialed those numbers, the refrigerator pulled back inside and closed the wall.
Pershey was stunned. She stared at Samuel and at what she was doing. She could not even blink as Samuel walked toward her.
She followed Samuel's gaze carrying a glass of avocado fruit shake. She lowered her gaze to Samuel's hand.
Suddenly her forehead furrowed as she stared at Samuel's hand. Samuel just smiled as she looked at her.
He lowered the fruit shake to the table then said, "Your favorite, avocado fruit shake." Pershey slowly looked up at Samuel. "... a-are you okay?" he asked.
She nodded then said, "I-i w-was just amazed."
"Ahh- oh! Inspired by new technology," he said.
He went back in his seat at the end. They were still looking at each other. He started eating. His gaze was on the food while Pershey's gaze was on him.
The clock seemed to slow as Pershey looked at Samuel. Every movement around her slowed as ahe stared at him. She even count her blinks in every single moment. Even the slow rise of Samuel's face slowed. Samuel looked at her with a sweet smile still on his lips.
She continues to look at him. She was unaware that Samuel is looking at her.
Samuel wondered what's her doing and why is she staring at him that way.
He lowered her gaze first to think and then he looked back on her.
Pershey was still staring at her like she's out of her anxiousness.
He smiled a little why looking at Pershey who was still staring at him.
His mouth wants to ask but he was hesitate. He kept looking at Pershey as she stared at him.
He drank while not taking his eyes off her. He wanted to ask or to say a word.
"What's wrong?" he finally asked but Pershey didn't seem to hear his question. She kept her eyes fixed on Samuel. "Pershey?"
Pershey blinked when she heard Samuel call her name.
"W-what are you saying?" She asked confusedly.
He laughed a little then said, "No, no. Let's just eat," he smiled after.
She nodded before looking down at the food served on the table. Her gaze and attention were not on the foods but on the avocado fruit shake. It was still smoking in the cold. She stabbed the straw then took it. She barely sipped to see if it was okay with her taste.
"Hmm ..." she said softly before sucking again. She put it down to start eating.
"How's the fruit shake?" Samuel asked so she couldn't finish the food. She lowered the spoon and fork first.
"Yummy," she replied then she ate the food she should have eaten earlier. "By the way, how did you know that I like the avocado fruit shake?" she asked.
He drank first then wiped his lips, then he replied, " Sounds weird and funny but ..." he laughed a little. "... I stalked you," he continued.
He laughed a little at what Samuel said then sipped the fruit shake again.
"I am serious, Pershey. I stalked you before."
Pershey was speechless. H
She just sipped the avocado fruit shake.
“I often see you at Neil’s El Lavish Restaurant with Leighden,” he added then paused. Pershey just stared at him. "I notice that you often buy avocado fruit shakes so I thought you might like that," he continued.
She nodded and smiled slightly then he said, "You stalked me?" she asked. Samuel nodded slightly laughing. "You stalked me for what?" she asked again.
He was silent for a moment at Pershey's question. She waited for Samuel's answer.
"I don't know," he replied making Pershey to laugh a little. She did not say a word and stood up. There was a look of shock on Samuel's face at Pershey's sudden erection.
“It’s already 9 o’clock, I need to go home,” she said. At once Samuel got up and approached her.
"I'll take you, Pershey, can I?"
"N-no need. I'm going to meet Leighden tonight and I need to hurry. She's waiting for me," she said and was about to walk and leave.
"I'll take you so I can make sure you go home safely."
"No need, Samuel. I called Driver Gong to pick me up."
"Okay, but let me take you up to the first floor."
She nodded and smiled since she can't force Samuel to agree with her.
They took the elevator again. Pershey was silent while busy talking to Leighden on the messenger. Samuel watched at what she was doing.
"Hello," she said. The speaker of her cellphone was in front of her ear. She listen.
"Are you coming?" the woman on the other line asked.
"Yeah, of course. Wait me for 20 minutes. I'll be there right away," she replied before ending the call.
She slipped the cellphone into her bag and then looked at the door of the elevator. She waited for Samuel to come down.
"Is she Leighden?" he asked.
"Yeah, exactly," she answered quickly.
"I heard you joined Pageant." Pershey nodded. "Goodluck. I know you'll win."
"Yeah," she smiled. "I hope."
"Umm, my sister was also joined in the Pageant." She frowned as she looked at Samuel.
"Really?" He nodded. "Oh goodluck."
The elevator door opened and they exited. They walked together while talking. They focused their gaze on each other as they happily talked.
A woman is coming in. She opens her bag as she walks in the direction where Samuel and Pershey are.
Eventually, Pershey's and the woman's bodies collided so they were both shocked. The woman's ATM card fell off so she picked it up.
She looked at the woman then apologized, "Oh, I'm so sorry, Miss."
When the woman had adjusted her posture, she looked at Pershey and her eyes widened.
Pershey was also shocked when they met the woman's gaze. That woman is Aliha.
"You're late again, Aliha," Samuel said before they continued to walk with Pershey.
They kept walking out of Samuel's house.
"Oh, she's my sister," Samuel said so Pershey looked at him as they continued walking. "Why?"
"Nothing," she replied. They stopped outside the gate. "Thanks," she said.
"Take care."
She nodded before she got into the car that Driver Gong was driving.
"Good evening, Señorita," Driver Gong greeted before he started the car. She smiled in response and looked out the window. She saw Samuel waving but he was not who caught Pershey's attention but Aliha who was standing outside the door of Samuel's house. Aliha is deeply looking at her.
She closed the window and leaned back.
"Let's go home, Driver Gong," she commanded weakly before closing her eyes.
"Okay, Señorita Pershey," he said.
She sighed while her eyes were closed.
